I think it's safe to say, the decisions taken by the powers that be next month, will ultimately decide our fate this season.

It can't be easy for the owners. I'm sure there's nothing they would like more than to appease the supporters. They would probably love to splash the cash and solve everything in an instant. If only it was that easy.

So many players were on loan last season and so many oldies were clearly not going to cope with prem. level. 130 mill isn't a lo when you need 10 players of premier league quality. FFP sucks. How lucky were Man City to get away with it before it kicked in. Does anyone know how much leeway we have with FFP, or if not would anyone like to hazard a guess. 10 mill, 20 mill, or more.

So loans, purchases, a combination. We would probably love 4 or 5 additions but realistically it's probably going to be 2 or 3 at best isn't it? and probably not the players we would like. So, if it's 2 or 3 what are the priorities? Striker, I think everybody would agree there, but after that, where do we need to strengthen most, if we are limited to 2 or 3?

I'm not too qualified to say, having seen perhaps 7 or 8 games on canal tv here in France. The impression I get though is that we're too lightweight in midfield and that a younger version of Jedinak is needed to protect the defense.

I suspect there will be no consensus here but I would be very interested to read your opinions. UTV.

I don’t think it’s that we are lightweight in midfield, I think the problem is that our wide men are lazy, and we are one dimensional.

We are not losing games through our midfield, we lose games because we can’t keep a clean sheet, and we can’t score goals.

I done want to get rid of smith, and I hope he turns things around, my problem is Jt, one of the best defenders I’ve ever seen, and certainly the best leader of men I’ve ever seen. yet our defence is so leaky, and we have no leaders in the team.

I’m not saying anything against jack here. but he is never our captain. He is our talisman, and is 100% one of us, but, that is not enough to motivate players that do not bleed claret and blue. We need someone who will drag others to their own level, we need someone who would put the fear of god in to a player who isn’t giving everything, in short we need a mellberg, we need a Townsend, a Taylor, we need a jt.

We have to many players hiding during games, and that is where our problems lie.
We address that, we pick up points, we don’t, and we go out with a whimper.

Agree Flakie - I think there is a team there capable of staying up, we are far from dead a buried, especially with a few signings in January.

Priority has to be Striker, Winger, Midfielder!

I'll get slatted for this but personally I'd look at Ross Barkley as a McGinn replacement - He is barely getting a kick at Chelsea and would surely be motivated with the Euros on the horizon? Also, I think Morales at Rangers is exactly what we want, a horrible piece of work that knows where the goal is. Finally Bowen, no brainer considering his contract situation. Also, heard rumours of Vida online, and Walkers Peters on loan (Twitter) .

I agree with you on the captaincy also. Somebody like Andy Townsend, yes. When he berated the players they new about it. Finding someone like him though, for a reasonable fee, that's not so easy.

Hell of a lot of sense in this thread, usually the case with Mr F, . My problem is we can all spout off and have our say however nothing seems to have changed over the last half a dozen games. I just wish the players showed some of the passion and desire that you guys on here show. I find it frustrating watching millionaires that don't seem to put in the necessary effort to survive in the premier league. Unfortunately this frustration turns in to bile and people switch off when their beloved team are in their opinion harshly criticised. The message from fans must get across to the manager and players and they should not get an easy ride. We must keep the pressure on and let them know we are not happy. I feel if we are too patient it will end in tears. So yes as Mr F says there have been positives and most accept this and are grateful, however we started the season with so much optimism and this has unfortunately turned in to unacceptable performance from manager and players alike. Deano had gone on record and said many of the things that have been voiced on here. So my position is, Burnley is now the start of our fight for survival and if I personally do not see any fight or improvement I will be on here calling for change in whatever form that takes.
