Looking forward to season to kick off I think Paul lambert has a pretty good squad to pick from, don't get me wrong we won't win the league or anything, but I don't think we will be in a dog fight either, no more excuses for the manger now about kids and a lack of experience, lastly I'm reading spuds want to off load Lennon I think we could do a job for us have been linked with him before

Great post! And I totally agree! I think under the radar lambert has created a useful squad.
Hopefully the last few seasons will have them playing together. Nothing like a s*** fight to bond a young team.
Lennon would be a great signing for us.
Although, I seriously feel another striker is needed, and a new back up keeper.!

I also agree, I think we have a decent squad compared to seasons gone by, we seem to have 2 players for every position and also benteke and kozac to come in. The squad does have premiership quality now, it may not be the top end of quality but it is a premiership squad now.

I'll be positive about the team when there is something to generate such a response (the performance on Saturday won't do it)
I won't be "positive" just because you tell me to be.
Equally, I will have the courtesy to not tell you how to feel.
Try to convince me you are right in your optimism rather than trying to browbeat me in to compliance with your view

Mendax, I think the general point is that our squad looks stronger this season and there is cause for some optimism. Personally I'm looking forwards to seeing vlaar and okore playing together and feel that could be a strong pairing. hutton seems up for it, nzogbia is capable of magic and bent is a differnet option for us if needed. all players who for whatever reasons didn't play last season. but they do improve our squad and give us depth. Last season we were down to the barest of bones.

I have to agree with Mendax, and I believe PL is a terrible manager and should have been sacked, I am a big fan of Glen Hoddle and let's see how he dose at QPR yes he said some stupid things in the past but most who played under his management all say he's great

Mendax to be honest can not remember the last time you was positive on a post! My point was it may not be the strongest villa squad ever bit it's what we have this season and with Richardson cole injury free Sanchez eventually and with Hutton bent etc back it's not that bad let's get behind the boys and hope for great result on sat and see what negative posts we have then!!

I agree with you mendax I think before we all start sucking each other of just yet let's see if these buys an freebies get on. at the moment it is hard to raise spirits we have an ok at best team. there isn't any reason to start jumping for joy is there also that was mandex's thoughts no need to start slating yes we have to get behind our team true but its hard to when you see dire football week in week out. let's hope this season gives possitives instead of negitives utv

It's been a long time since we have had decant players for every position, but on paper we are a lot stronger than the last 3-4 seasons, Mendex I'm speaking for myself here but I'm quite happy with the business we have done so far and lambert has said that he hopes to bring in 2 more along with the bomb squad I think we are a good mid table team, WHy don't we have a poll, those that think we are stronger that last season simple reply yes, those that we aren't simple reply no looking, forward to this

players not guaranteed to play games like seasons gone by, players not preforming can be dropped plus we have game changers and players who have points to prove!
bring on the season and let the haters hate I for one am looking for realistic 10 - 15th finish which will be a improvement on last season and who knows we may even have a new owner come January!

Hi Villanick, I was responding to the guy before you in honesty
To the guy who says to "be honest can not remember the last time you was positive on a post". I tend to agree. I can't remember either. My issue is that you talk as though that's my fault.
Believe me mate, I don't choose to be so down about my team. It's not something I choose to do
I look at the situation fairly rationally rather than as a manic cheerleader
I've never, ever booed the team at a game so people telling me to "get behind the lads " is particularly galling. I don't need telling
I also don't need telling to come on here and give an honest view based on fact rather than baseless optimism.
Oh well, not long to go before it all starts and we see who is right. I HOPE IT IS YOU!
