I don’t think you understand, doesn’t make much odds to them keeping a player in the reserves for six months so they aren’t being pushed around, all they would save is 6 months wages.

I'm not saying every player does this but surely you can see how football transfers and players behaviours have changed over the years,

No decent football club run by people who have half a clue about business and football in general are going to loan out a player with 6 months left on his contract for him to leave for free at the end. “Player power” or not, maybe if he had 3 years left and he wanted to force a move away, funnily enough I think something similar happened with Jota whilst he was at Brentford a couple of years ago, however this is not the case, it’s just basic logic.
