We are being linked with Alessandro Diamante who is currently playing for Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande. Apparently he wants to play in Europe again.

1.) 05 Aug 2015 09:58:09
Don't see this happening at all. For a start the link is in the Metro which got it from Gazetto de la Sport.

24 Jul 2015 00:39:20
Anderlecht are reported to have said that they are prepared to sell Praet for 10 million. Should we go in or him?

1.) 24 Jul 2015 07:15:15
Yes he is a quality prospect

2.) 24 Jul 2015 10:10:17
I'd love us to snap him up! Can't see him being anything other than a quality signing with decent sell on value.

11 Jul 2015 16:27:29
With reports saying Delph is staying now is it likely to be still the case that he will have the 8 mil buyout clause - or would it be a dynamic thing and increase if he chooses not to leave is season?

1.) 11 Jul 2015 17:03:49
Wouldn't surprise me if he's offered fresh terms woth the buy out either removed or increased

2.) 11 Jul 2015 17:14:09
And a further pay rise no doubt - glad he is staying though.

3.) 11 Jul 2015 17:23:27
Happy days eat our words boys he is loyal!! great professional if he stays

4.) 11 Jul 2015 17:35:44
Was proper gutted last nite and this morning, and I'm actually buzzing and over the moon now, really hope benteke follows suit and the rumours of townsend are true

5.) 11 Jul 2015 18:45:03
Great news again feeds into new owner due soon where wages, new players and optimism will be a reality. Must have been part of negotiations whilst staying behind from Portugal!!

6.) 11 Jul 2015 20:51:53
He stayed behind because his wife is expecting. Glad he staying.

7.) 11 Jul 2015 21:30:11
Again I don't want to sound a killjoy but he is not loyal - he considered going to City. We heard the rumours that he spoke to Micah Richards and from what I heard he wanted a low buyout clause at City as an escape route - probably from the advice Richards gave him. They wouldn't play ball so he didn't sign for them.

8.) 12 Jul 2015 20:30:19
I have to agree. He was off, failed the medical and is now staying.

To be fair though, he did sign a new contract in Jan with a buy out clause would have given us £8m instead of nothing had he let the contract run down. So I think he gets credit for that.

I don't think anyone can really expect a player to turn down a massive pay rise, even if it means bench time.

This is something to put behind us all now and look forward to next month.

A final note. This tale, and others like it, should make players wary of the actions they take on the road to a new club. Can you image the situation for Sterling should his move to Man C also fall through. By comparison, the actions by FD are positively upfront and honest.

29 Jun 2015 03:38:39
Ron Vlaar has reportedly put contract talks on hold with us to spend the summer working with disadvantaged children in India. Probably something to do with the takeover - I could see him wanting to wait and negotiate a new contract with the new owners in place once he has a clear vision of the direction the club is taking. If this is the case I don't blame him really, but if he leaves its not too big of a loss.

1.) 29 Jun 2015 08:58:48
Its a Dutch Charity he's doing it for, so doubt its something to do with take over

2.) 29 Jun 2015 12:11:20
high guys I have written a few times I,m carbisbay just love the place well don,t you feel like me f-----g fed up reading how we are considering, thinking, offering stupid amts wasting valuble time then loosing our targets as we are so slow then other clubs sneek in and we loose out.we need to get these better players and stop f-----g about eg stoke keeper would most probably have been ours but for a childish offer letting chelski in that's not the only case so ts and yiou other so called directors of football grow up stop waisting our time either you want to start growing stronger or shall we fight once again for our lives my suggestion is sack the idiots and get Liverpool,s team responsible for new ins or do our lot seem worried about flying and buying they don,t let the grass grow do they identify and get em in carbisbay.

3.) 29 Jun 2015 13:56:40
Carbisbay, To be honest mate I think more than half of the rumours and paper talk we are reading in the press at the moment is all rubbish anyway, papers have to fill spaces and sell papers hence the garbage.
The problem is we (Villa) have made a lot of big mistakes in the transfer market purchasing and selling players over the past decade, and the club do not want to be making the same mistakes again so I am sure they are going to be more careful and vigilant in their pursuit of players in future.
I have no doubt we will be making signings, maybe even as many as six for different positions all over the pitch, but I think a lot of this is all depending on Benteke`s stance.
More often than not the transfer market will go crazy when a couple of big money moves happen, and I think this is a very good example of stalemate at the moment.
We will be fine, and expect some very good unknowns to arrive, Think double dutch !!

4.) 29 Jun 2015 14:03:47
Ruggers - I didn't mean he's doing charity work in India because the new owners are Indians or anything, my post isn't that clear. What I meant was he's using the fact that he is doing this charity project as a reason why he's delaying his contract talks, because he wants to discuss terms once the new owners are in place.

Hope that's a little clearer.

5.) 29 Jun 2015 16:07:51
Carbisbay - would you rather Sherwood make lower offers for quality players like Begovic which will more than likely be turned down but you never know. OR would you rather he spend the funds he is raising from player sales (he clearly hasn't been sanctioned anything by the board yet.) on similar lower quality replacements?

I think Sherwood is doing a brilliant job this window. We have effectively traded Darren Bent for Micah Richards :) and the rumours circling are for a higher calibre of player than what we have sold.

He has got Ray Wilkins in as Assistant and Kevin MacDonald back working with the youth. Really what else can the man do to please you?

6.) 29 Jun 2015 16:42:32
I agree, Andy. Good name btw ;) From one Andy to another.

I personally think Sherwood is doing the best he can with all that he has available to him. I was discussing with a friend this weekend, this possible begovic deal and we both came to the possible conclusion that we weren't really THAT interested in him, but we purposely but our names in the hate with a low bid to give Guzan a kick up the arse?
Who knows, certainly haven't been linked to usual has-beens and never heard ofs from the lower leagues, but I agree that most of what has been linked it probably total rubbish, engineered to sell papers and online blogs hit counters.

The other thing I cannot seem to get my head around, is this supposed Delph clause, if it was in there since Jan, why only mention it now? And even if it has ONLY just been found out. I think if it was factual, one of Man City, Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool would have met the release clause days ago. Delph for 10m is an absolute steal in the current market.
I also think that if all the above does turn out to be true, that Delph himself would really get hated after his "like brothers" comments and the praise he received countrywide for his loyalty.
Then again I don't think stuff like that actually matters in football does it?
I mean if you wanted to bring up a contradiction or lie that was told in football, you could make a living just off Harry Redknapp alone.

7.) 29 Jun 2015 20:22:59
I mean really apart from the odd deal here and there and Brendan Rodgers buying literally everyone he possibly can, most of the clubs in the league especially the teams around us have done very little business either. So its nothing to be concerned about at this stage.

I agree with the Delph's clause bit fplmorg. I can't see it being that low. To me it sounds like a release clause put in so that he can leave on the cheap IF we are relegated, and the media have got it a bit wrong with the way they are reporting it.

23 Jun 2015 14:21:28
I'm sure some of you have seen an article going around suggesting that Gabby Agbonlahor is too comfortable at the club and it would benefit both if they parted ways. So should we sell him?

1.) 23 Jun 2015 14:56:25
No, we shouldn't.
We should pay someone to take him

2.) 23 Jun 2015 16:22:22
think he is a player who we miss when he isn't in the team yes he isn't the best finisher but hit a ball into a channel and let him chase it down see how he does with sherwood for 6 months

3.) 23 Jun 2015 17:20:46
Don't really know why I have an unbelievable - its a Matt Kendrick article from the Birmingham Mail if anyone is interested. Personally I would keep him and use him sparingly (impact sub, cup games etc.) and get his wages down next time it comes up. If he has to take a pay cut to stay at Villa then we will really see how loyal he is.

4.) 23 Jun 2015 17:36:32
I think we stand by him as he is villa through and through.
But look at it with your head and not a sentimental heart.
Other than one dimensional football, long ball and hope his pace beats everyone, what does he offer??
Can't finish.
Can't cross.
Can't pass more than ten yards.
Can't tackle.

I agree he gives us 100% of what he has. But, and this is the painful part, what he has is not very good.
Personally he would struggle to get in a championship side.
We deserve better.

5.) 23 Jun 2015 18:02:00
I think Matt Kendrick is spot on, I have let my feelings known many times on this site about Agbonlahor and they have not changed.
I think if he warms the bench for a few weeks he might realise that just because he supports Villa and that he has been there since school he has no devine right to be in the side.
Let`s be honest here, he has been very reliant on his pace in the past, he has very little technical ability, on top of that he is not getting any younger, so he is going to slow up big time.
Most of his performances this season have been shocking, and for those reasons I would get rid.
I will now wait for the slagging off, sorry in advance.

6.) 23 Jun 2015 18:28:17
Totally agree

7.) 23 Jun 2015 18:36:13
All we miss is Gabby's pace. Sell him, in 2/3 years he'll be no where near the Prem.

8.) 23 Jun 2015 18:50:35
If he wasn't from Birmingham, would there even be a debate ?
Hasn't earned his place for the last 5 years

9.) 23 Jun 2015 21:09:56
Keep him. I like Gabby. That's all.

10.) 23 Jun 2015 22:07:09
I agree, and I like him!

Perhaps he could be half time entertainment, we could watch him miss kicking a ball at a target on the half way line each week

11.) 23 Jun 2015 22:12:21
I get that he's a villa fan and that's great, love his passion. But it's very easy to be loyal when no one else wants you. Good for running at tired defenders and that's about it wouldn't be a big deal if he stays or goes

24 Mar 2017 23:47:38
Well Neil Taylor said he wanted to play as a striker, and judging by the way he took out Coleman he certainly tackles like one. Always horrible to see injuries like that, get well soon Seamus!

25 Feb 2017 17:01:22
Get in! Hopefully this signals the start of better things to come. Shout out to Chester who was imperious at the back.

1.) 25 Feb 2017 17:26:44
Well, it's finally a 1-0 victory, but I'm still not pleased with a few things. Although Bruce tried today, I still think he can do better.

Certain bookings we could have been without, for instance Bscuna (he should not be played anymore, I think) shouting at the linesman towards the end of the match. Taylor's booking we could have been without too.

I think Bjarnason is best at central midfield. Both Johnstone and Green looked pretty good today the last 34-35 minutes that I saw. Overall a solid performance.

2.) 25 Feb 2017 18:36:49
Of course we can do better but it takes time. The most important thing is we defended the lead and got 3 points. Bacuna getting himself sent off was ridiculous and could have very easily cost us the game but up until that I thought he had a fairly decent game. You say he shouldn't be played anymore which I'm not sure I agree with but what I am sure of is that he'll have plenty of time out suspended to dwell on it. With his actions being towards one of the officials rather than another player he is bound to get looked at by the FA and have a longer suspension, and rightly so.

3.) 25 Feb 2017 19:38:04
Hinch mate, Bruce tried today, what does that mean?
He picked a side from what he had, and they were very poor to be fair, it’s the players that are not performing, again no understanding.
Welcome three points but that was dire, 29% possession at home, dreadful.

4.) 25 Feb 2017 20:14:24
Bacuna shouldn't be played anymore? He was MOTM until he lost his head, wasn't a sending off he nudged him fgs. We won "but still things I'm not happy about" - says it all really.

5.) 25 Feb 2017 21:01:31
Sorry Chris but Bacuna had to go - definite red with further sanctions. You DO NOT disrespect the officials like that.

6.) 25 Feb 2017 21:15:26
And we gladly take those three points. I just think that a few things could've been better the last 35 minutes.
Up the Villa!

7.) 26 Feb 2017 12:50:09
What are you guys on with? Bacuna should, not be played again. he was our best player till he had a rush of blood to the head. he was reacting to a really bad decision by linesman. not saying he could, not have handled it better. but not to play him again. is just a ridiculous statement to make. really pleased for Brucie an the players and the fans. we got a win may not have been pretty, but we showed some resolve and kept a clean sheet. if we can do the same at Bristol I for one will be more than happy. its a small step in the right direction. let's stop looking for things to whingeabout. just be happy that we got a result.

8.) 26 Feb 2017 16:13:08
Officials are becoming like goalkeepers - over protected. I go to work to do a job, I get it wrong I get punishment, these lot Miss things that are 3 foot away from them, make everyone question if match fixing really is a part of our game, get no punishment and then kack their pants when someone gets in their face.

9.) 26 Feb 2017 19:37:27
Their job is to make hundreds of little split second calls and decisions every game. So if they get just one wrong they deserve someone getting aggressively up in their face - I'm sure that happens to you at work every day mate. You respect the officials decision no matter what and get on with it. End of.

So we didn't get a throw in we should have in our own half - they had a stonewall penalty turned down. All in all I think we came out much better in terms of the referees mistakes and you didn't see Darren Bent nutting the ref.

10.) 26 Feb 2017 23:41:04
Well said Andy, couldn`t agree more.

11.) 26 Feb 2017 23:46:33
Yea and if they get 90% wrong in a game nothing happens? Don't be a drama queen he didn't but anyone, barely even barged him. I'd rather have the passion of bacuna than the passiveness some of the players bring. Split second decisions?

The balls hit of a players foot which is two foot away from bacuna and gone out, the Lino is standing 2 meters away, he did not miss that, but villa having a throw in taking 30 seconds to take it, launching it up the line and ending the game doesn't make for a good finish does it? Especially after the officials would of seen that they should have given a penalty in the first half. That's what bacuna was fuming about and so he should be, was funny to see the lino shaking after tho, can just imagine what he said to the ref "urm yea urm urm urm his chest touched my shoulder urm urm please send him off I'm scared"

12.) 27 Feb 2017 13:53:27
I agree the refs performances should be scrutinized to make sure they are hitting a consistent level but doing what Bacuna did is not the way to deal with it. The lady in the shop didn't add my purchases up correctly the other day so I asked her to re-check it, and I was right. I didn't nut her in the face. There are respectful ways of dealing with human error.

13.) 27 Feb 2017 14:36:31
Your spot on Chris bout officials being over protected. some of their decisions beggar belief. like the one bacuna got so incensed about. linesman was right on the spot an gave it derby. Therese seems to be no redress for their incompetence. week in and out we see this happening.

14.) 27 Feb 2017 20:50:43
I fully understand your point, but no one nutted anyone, he stood infront of him and his chest touched the blokes shoulder. It was an angry reaction to the official getting something so blatant wrong, but that's all it was. He barely touched him and the bloke wet himself. Ayew used to scream and shout in officials faces every game and he got yellow after yellow, why is this any different.

15.) 27 Feb 2017 22:13:01
Going forehead to forehead is a clear act of physical aggression and the kind of act you expect to see at a UFC weigh in, not on a football pitch. Its a straight red card and if one of their players had done it and only got a yellow you would be fuming. I agree with you refs should be more stringently looked at in the aftermath of games where they have made crucial mistakes but in this match if it was looked at afterwards what would happen? We would be forced to replay or get docked two points because they had a penalty decision wrongly go against them, and we had a throw in go the wrong way.

16.) 28 Feb 2017 13:09:40
Watch it back, foreheads are a good 8 inches away from each other at all times. And yea they should of had a pen, but Barnsley shouldn't 2 weeks ago, nor should they of had a free kick which let to their third goal. Refereeing in this division stinks week in week out and you can see the frustrations of all players week in week out.

20 Feb 2017 21:59:15
Well that couldn't have gone much worse but on the plus side there was nothing to blame Grealish or Johnstone for this week.

04 Feb 2017 19:30:13
inb4 the next round of complaining about Grealish.

17 Nov 2016 05:43:52
For the past week or so all I've found myself doing is posting negative stuff and I don't want to anymore because its just not me. I feel that all its done is soured the atmosphere slightly and that's not what this site should be about. Its been made clear by a minority that certain peoples opinions aren't worth sharing so I will refrain from sharing mine from now on. I have had fun over the years and we have had some interesting discussions which always remained pretty civil no matter how much we agreed or disagreed. There have been people before who come on and question the validity of peoples opinions based on trivial factors but they were usually short lived posters who disappeared shortly afterwards never to grace these pages again. I will continue to frequent the site but I won't be actively involved anymore. I don't know why this has got up my nose so much this time but I guess its the straw that broke the camels back. To the vast majority of you I say thanks for the good times, and to the rest **** you.

1.) 17 Nov 2016 09:04:05
Hope you don't go mate. although I hate negative posting, I hope I haven't offended or been personal.

The fact of the matter is we all want a successful villa team, and have different opinions on how we get there'

Have a breather and re assess in a few days mate?

2.) 17 Nov 2016 10:09:39
I agree with Flackie, its a bit of fun hardly any1 ever agrees with me but we all have to stay and enjoy the banter. Take me an flackie for instance we don't get on we have very differnt views but come friday one thing we will agree on is Aston Villa and all of us will always be rooting for the same thing. I hope one day to share a pint with you all then we can have a laugh. UTV.

3.) 17 Nov 2016 11:21:13
God I hate to say, but I agree mate!

It would be boring if we all agreed!

4.) 17 Nov 2016 12:49:05
Hey Mr. SKIA I don't share my pints with anyone! 😄 bUt you can buy me one at Leeds if you want.
Have a great weekend in Britains gay capital this week. 😘.

5.) 17 Nov 2016 15:17:10
We all agree that Villa will win comfortably tomorrow, right? I say that it will be a 3-0 victory for us. Come on, Villa!

6.) 17 Nov 2016 16:21:53
Andy PF i will get you a pint at leeds then mate. just sorting my dress for brighton just don't know what shoes to where lol Seriously tho let's get another 3 points UTV.

7.) 17 Nov 2016 16:56:43
We have several bullies on the site that see a rejection of their views etc as negative.
Even reality is deemed negative.
Shame really as it is a great site for the exchange of views.
Recently it has improved.
Stick with it Andy and if you believe then that is your opinion.

8.) 17 Nov 2016 19:28:28
See what I mean.

9.) 17 Nov 2016 19:21:14
Mr. SKIA just wear the ones you wear to the Tower ballroom on Grab a Granny nights - the claret and blue stilletoes!

10.) 17 Nov 2016 19:37:27
Blimey make you mind up Oldvillan.

11.) 17 Nov 2016 19:37:33
Have I missed something?

12.) 17 Nov 2016 22:07:08
It's five past ten.

13.) 17 Nov 2016 23:57:49
Nah. Its been a good ride for the most part but people like Mr SKIA just P me off too much. And when he is the most prolific poster it just ain't fun like it used to be. To come out and respond with its just a bit of fun and banter and that were all on the same page after basically saying that anyone who doesn't sit in the Holte end at every game has a worthless opinion is mind blowing. And as we all know its not the first time this cancer has reared its ugly head and won't be the last. It makes what should be a fun and friendly place to come and talk all things Villa a divisive and unwelcoming place.

Like I said, I will continue to visit the site as its always fun to read posts from KingVilla, Flackie, Mendax, Oldvillain etc but I won't be joining in anymore.

14.) 18 Nov 2016 09:06:11
Hear hear Andy🏳🏳.

15.) 18 Nov 2016 11:36:46
I'm sorry to see you go mate.
And your point is true, I myself don't visit or post hardly anymore for the same reason, and as I think neither do many more.

However. we are better than that! Aren't we!?
Ignore, don't comment like or disagree. the message will get across!

But the fun and banter has left this site, hopefully temporarily!

16.) 18 Nov 2016 13:14:32
I don't agree with you, AndyVilla. IMO you and 1 or 2 others need to stop taking yourself so seriously.
Remember this ; everyone is different. We all have different opinions and different ways of expressing them. Some people have better command of English than others.
Take Mr. SKIA for example. I have strongly disagreed with him on some things and vice versa. I have mocked him just like others have. His blunt approach is at least honest and whether we agree with him or not, or like him or not those are his opinions.
His opinions and mine are just as valid as anyone else's. It doesn't matter who you are or how long you've been on this site, how well spoken you are or how many qualifications you have. Nobody has the definitive opinion.
IMO those that object to that blunt approach are those that think they have the definitive viewpoint. They don't.
It would be great if you stayed on this site and joined in with us. In your own way.
Oh and for the record I think this site is more fun than its ever been. But that's only my opinion.

17.) 18 Nov 2016 19:34:52
In my mind there is a difference between healthy debate and disagreement and downright disrespect. Why should I waste my time contributing if what I post is dismissed out of hand? So until this matter resolves itself one way or another, I'm not wasting my time anymore.

18.) 18 Nov 2016 20:01:22
Oh Andy AndyPF just for clarification I have absolutely no issue with people disagreeing with me and I have never claimed nor ever would claim I have the difinitive opinion on anything. I am more than happy to debate people based on their arguments but what I am not happy with is being disregarded for pathetic trivial things like match attendance.

19.) 18 Nov 2016 19:34:52
In my mind there is a difference between healthy debate and disagreement and downright disrespect. Why should I waste my time contributing if what I post is dismissed out of hand? So until this matter resolves itself one way or another, I'm not wasting my time anymore.

{Ed002's Note - I thought you said you would not be posting anymore?}

20.) 18 Nov 2016 20:50:32
Mr. SKIAs views ( often written with little eloquence and therefore taken out of context) are often dismissed out of hand, including by me.
He takes it on the chin and, in his own way, comes back for more. That's what banter is all about IMO.
A fair few of us have slated his views on match attendance, rightly so. But that doesn't deter him. I for one have actually learnt how to deal with his ways . He's even promised to buy me a pint at Elland Road.
A few week's ago I told him to take a holiday in Bhutan.!
So Andy my point to you is carry on with your excellent posts. Just, maybe, be a little less sensitiveand have some fun with us and Mr Knows F. k All .

21.) 18 Nov 2016 21:17:55
I agree Andy!
However, bet he doesn't buy you a pint!

22.) 18 Nov 2016 22:14:46
He'll never hear the last of it if he doesn't.

23.) 18 Nov 2016 21:41:08
Just clarifying my position. And I will still post on any important more generalized threads like Oldvillan's above. The bad 1% just spoils posting for me, but I will continue to read the decent stuff most of you guys put up.

24.) 18 Nov 2016 23:25:14
Tell you what!
I'll buy you both one. well might get him a coke!

Great idea. We sign all these great players on loan, get promoted and then they all go back to their parent clubs and we are left high and dry.

Yes, but only if he takes a massive pay cut.

If by some miracle we did manage to scrape into 6th place and win the playoffs, we would almost certainly be relegated again the following season. I don't want to see us become a yo yo club. Finish the season strong and aim for automatic promotion next season.

I think we'll thought he was a great buy at first but it must be the money that messes with their heads. They have the knowledge that they are getting a massive pay check every week no matter what until their contract is up, whether or not they perform on the pitch or even make the squad. You are relying solely on their desire to be as good as they can be and when you hit 30 and have been doing it for nearly 15 years and you have a cushy contract that you know will pretty much see you out to the end of your career it's understandable that some people will let it slide. Don't get me wrong I don't condone it but what can we do as a club with contracts as they are now. If any of us where crap at our jobs and not putting the work in we be on the dole in no time flat.

Saw a video of some feminazi ideologue saying he should 'consider his position' and that she hoped her daughter would look back at incidents like this and laugh at how it was ever this way. Personally I don't want to live her Orwellian vision of the future where your freedom of speech is non existent and everything you say is scrutinized by an unelected body of authoritarians who's immediate response to anyone not towing the party line is to go after their job.

What happened to the idea of 'I might not agree with what you have to say but I stand by your right to say it'?
