Ashley Young looking for a loan move to get first team football. anyone?

Prob

1.) 24 Jan 2017 11:04:56
in the blink of an eye

2.) 24 Jan 2017 11:35:52
Wages would probably make it impossible

03 Aug 2016 21:22:24
I'm not sure it would be a good idea myself but. how would a punt on Aiden McGeady. Good on his day but hasn't had his day for quite a while. Quick feet but slow brain.

Prob

1.) 03 Aug 2016 21:51:00
I just came on here to say exactly same but in reality we prob have enough has beens.

2.) 03 Aug 2016 22:53:59
Yeah I'd have Mcgeady would be a great impact player knows where the goal is to.

3.) 04 Aug 2016 08:43:17
he couldn't get in wednesday side last season in championship what would he bring to the villa we need to be looking for better players than mcgeady.

4.) 04 Aug 2016 10:11:10
We were linked with mcgeady 10 yrs ago when he was half decent. The guy is dire now so no thank you.

I would be interested in fellow Villa fan's views of Kevin Toner, particularly the many Villa fans with deeper knowledge than me of our fringe and younger players. Do we reckon he will play much next season? Will he grow into a, hopefully, Premier League, quality defender. What is his best position, centre back or full back? He looked okay in a rotten defence towards the end of last season but we have witnessed several false dawns with players before.

Prob

1.) 29 Jun 2016 17:58:59
I have waxed lyrical in the past about giving our youth squad a chance to shine and Toner is up at the top of a long list. That said it would not be fair to put him in from the off. He needs to be nurtured and eased in learning his trade with the help of Elphick and Okore. This time next year he will be even better because of the experience.

Danny Graham has gone to Blackburn, would Jordan Rhodes be worth a £12m punt? We Certainly like his first name!

Prob

1.) 20 Jan 2016 13:53:10
Love to see Jordan Rhodes! I think at worst, if we do go down, we'd have a striker used to playing in that division. Plus, we could see more out of gestede as they had a good partnership for an average team at Blackburn.

2.) 20 Jan 2016 17:25:47
Surely that kid at Oxford is better value than Rhodes
Can anyone see us spending £12 million on a player? I can't.

3.) 20 Jan 2016 18:04:49
Yes I agree Mendax, Kemar Roofe is his name and Ed has said he really looks a good prospect.
Would do a job for us at his current standard, seems to have it all in terms of ability.
We need a striker or two for sure, what the hell are we playing at.

09 Jan 2015 08:12:39
Anyone know much about this Carles Gil fella that we have been linked with? Any good and how true are the rumours? Ed?

Prob

{Ed002's Note - I wuld need to check but Valencia's Carles Gil is of interest to Espanyol and Everton - and that is all I am aware of.}

1.) Thanks Ed

2.) 09 Jan 2015 23:02:52
I've seen him play when I was in Spain he was nothing spectacular but could easily slot into the category of young talent who has been likened to David silva and iniesta however he is not of the same calibour in my opinion. However given time, and if we were to try to sign him (doubtful) he would try and take men on and give us a spark

Is anybody else completely sick and tired of Bruce's cliches before and after every match.
We know what we are going to get. it's tough in the championship. difficult place to go. and now he's talking about yellow balls!

Prob

1.) 01 Nov 2017 16:23:14
Some of us are more unhappy with the lack of tactical nouse and poor football, I could live with the cliche's if the football was not do dire.

So there is an article on the AV app about reprinting shirt numbers if last season's squad number was used and has now changed.

They mention that they released the squad numbers this week. Do you think you can find them on the app? If you go into the "Squad" section they haven't even bothered to include this season's signings or remove the players we have sold.

Come on Villa, surely it can be better than this.

Adrián is out contract in the summer. He has recently become number 2 at West Ham but was very good last season. We really need a decent goalkeeper and I don't see Begovic moving down a division.

Prob

1.) 08 Feb 2017 19:01:49
Good shout this mate. But I actually think that Johnstone will be a great keeper, he made a mistake. they all do! To now jump on him because of it is mindless.
I hope he comes for good in the summer, I think he has the makings of a special player.

2.) 08 Feb 2017 20:16:18
Hope Johnstone comes good for everyone's sake, but made a few mistakes now and it's starting to look like we've swapped one calamity keeper for another. Hopefully he can get over it and kick on but good shout mate Adrian in the summer would stop us having to buy a keeper when Johnstone goes back in the summer.

3.) 08 Feb 2017 21:39:54
Is there talk of Johnstone stayin, is there an option to buy?
Does anyone know how highly he is thought of at United and whether they seem him as a future keeper for them?

4.) 08 Feb 2017 21:51:52
Good question mate, I have no idea. but he is very highly thought of, especially through the England ranks.

5.) 08 Feb 2017 23:29:59
No option to buy or extend the loan, so in the summer when he goes back in the summer we either must strike up another deal with them for him or sign a complete new keeper. Heard United see him as De Gea's eventual replacement (hence why they haven't sold him) however so far I can't see why, hasn't been better than Gollini IMO.

26 Aug 2016 13:46:33
Kevin Toner signs 2 year extension and heads on 5 month loan to Walsall. Would love to see him break into the team when he returns. Hope the loan spell goes well for him.

Anyone agree that Callum McManaman would be worth a punt. Still only 25 and out of favour at the tesco bags. Was a good player at Wigan.

Prob

1.) 23 Aug 2016 11:11:26
Totally agree, tricky winger and would put in more effort than Ayew, don't get me wrong i do rate Ayew but his work rate is questionable getting back.

2.) 23 Aug 2016 11:34:19
Ain't he the knob who was tripping up Villa fans when they ran on the pitch after we beat them in the FA Cup?

UTV.

3.) 23 Aug 2016 12:07:24
Bad egg.

International break coming up. Maybe Bruce has until then.

Tony Moon will always have that goal against Arsenal.

If true, a good signing but we need to start offloading some players.

I'd say it's a wages thing. Hutton is probably still on premier league wages.

I'd go for Gary Neville or Andre Villas Boas over Sherwood.

I totally agree. We need a progressive manager, someone with a bit of vision.

Not Sherwood. seriously the man is braindead. We need to stay away from the so called proper football men.

I would prefer a fresh approach at our club. I am sick of hearing how you can't play good football and get out of this league because that is a load of bollocks.

Why? Because we could've delayed the transfer for a few more days. Instead of doing that it makes sense to have a gentleman's agreement as UTV_1_Love said.
