Worth reading anything into Robinson going out on loan again? Does it mean we're intent on finding the proven players and going all in to stay up? Does it mean the management don't think he's good enough at all? I was very curious to see what would happen with him and am a little surprised he's out on loan again.

It's to see how he gets on in Championship for next season.

To be fair Sherwood is a case of one of those ex pros who is unproven as a manager. I never wanted him as Lambert's replacement, but will be forever grateful for him keeping us up last season, as well as the bonus trip to Wembley. While he had a good record in a short time at Spurs, with their squad I could win half their games as manager. When it came to get us off to a start this season he looked well out of his depth. People talk about him being the one who developed Kane. well, that might work out, but even including his penalty so far this morning, Kane has 2 goals, Gestede has 3. I am grateful to Sherwood, but we need someone proven, and at this point someone who can grind out results.

Today took us to a new low. I can understand any fans over-optimism at the start of a season. I for one, deep down, knew that Richards hadn't changed. He is still a juvenile player with potential (albeit less now with age) who has yet to mature. While we weren't comfortable at 1-0. Richards unnecessarily handed them a way back into the game, from nothing. Our squad is made up of has beens (awful attempt from Lescott), yet to bes (grealish, Amavi, Traore) and never will bes (Richards) . We have no one who is proven, experienced and in their prime. Gueye is the only one close to that. MAY BE Gestede could be. But that's it, no experience with ability on the side.

Oulare has signed on a 5 year deal for 6 million, so much for a loan. I would probably have liked us to take a 6 million pound punt on him, but oh well. I wonder what his buyout is. may be if he turns out to be what everyone thinks he can be we can pick him up on the cheap when Watford go down ;-)

And we've just signed Lescott, confirmed. and we've pulled out of a deal for Berbatov due to high wage demands. I never understand that. unless he's got a deal from the middle east of China on the table, surely lower wages is better than no wages. not that I particularly wanted him to sign. although A striker would be good.

Sorry boys, Bruce has to go. Can't score at home against Brentford, that's not acceptable. HE chose to spend 12 million on Hogan. This season is about to go a begging, if it hasn't already.

Utter tripe again,
Brentford deserved to win no doubt,
They passed us off the field,
Better not say to much some posters will say I'm being negative!

2.) 09 Sep 2017 17:14:04
Only positive Johnson saved us from a big defeat,
Felt sorry for Davis no support again,

3.) 09 Sep 2017 19:10:06
The only redeeming factor about today's results was that the bluenoses lost and are still below us, albeit only by 2 points. Sadly, I shouldn't be having to desperately clutch at those kind of straws.

Time for RDM to go. Absolutely shocking. We won't go up and we're an embarrassment. Our back four and goalkeeping options are beyond poor.

SPfister9

1.) 01 Oct 2016 15:54:11
Did RDM say they would finish top 6 in the week, surely he meant bottom 6.

14 Sep 2016 21:48:07
Well, I for one have had enough, fire RDM and the entire backline. Sick of this nonsense. Can't beat Brentford at home? We'll never go back up.

What an absolute childish post!

Sack the manager and back line . ! Quick bed at 10pm it's school in the morning.

2.) 14 Sep 2016 22:04:45
we are avfc. nothing is ever done the easy way. give it time. we will come good.

3.) 14 Sep 2016 22:10:48
Sack the back line? On the evidence of our last 4 games we haven't got one to sack!

4.) 14 Sep 2016 23:12:45
Spot on Kingvilla, who are we to think we are going to just turn up and win games. its going to take time and graft. We will get there.

5.) 15 Sep 2016 09:37:44
People saying this post is ridiculous, I'm bored of this idea that our defence is solid, it Brentford were any good we would of lost 4 or 5 last night.

06 Sep 2016 00:40:17
Interesting that despite talk of a "No. 9" that no one has been given the shirt, even following Sinclair's departure. Speaking of the squad and shirt numbers, if I were Dr. T/ RDM I'd strip Gabby of 11, may be not even register him at all.

Great, so we've signed this Kodjia. never heard of him. and McCormck isn't exactly looking like a lethal striker is he? Just like last season we can't score goals.

SPfister9

1.) 30 Aug 2016 15:21:57
Maybe you have been smoking something?

It's early in the season . Let the team gel and then come November start moaning if they are not performing . Because you have just spoken a complete load of tosh.

2.) 30 Aug 2016 15:35:48
Jesus you need to go look up players we are signing if he's owt like he was last season for Bristol city he will be leathel and he's quick also give McCormack time to settle in and find his feet he will bang em in too we arena new side playing together we need time to gel this strike force could be very leathel and whoever said xia wasn't the real deal eat your words he's splashing money around he is definitely the real deal people just couldn't give the man the time.

3.) 30 Aug 2016 15:45:41
McCormack has created the most chances in the championship this season! He's game is more than scoring goals.

4.) 30 Aug 2016 17:42:20
Any striker needs service if you're getting that you've got a better chance to score goals.

You do realize Selke is playing 2nd division in Germany right? He left Bremen, and the first division to go to the 2nd division.

Think we've made great strides in shoring up the backline, which is key. Like most, I am disappointed that we didn't add a striker. It's a shame Berbatov was unreasonable, as I think he could have done a job with his experience for a year. To be honest, any proven striker would have been a good addition. I'm also slightly disappointed we were in conversations with Anderlecht and didn't do a deal for Praet while at it. I do wonder what this means for Siegrist. With Siegrist & now Sarkic, as well as 3 keepers in the first team (Guzan, Steer and Bunn) will we be moving any of them on? I'm also curious as to the terms of the new contracts for Clark, Baker and Bennett. I'm assuming Sherwood is trying make sure we don't lose them for nothing and can hopefully generate some revenue. I can't see Baker having a future if he's going out on loan at 24. With Amavi on the books Bennett's future doesn't look to bright either. I do worry that we're going to struggle for goals but am far more optimistic about the coming season and do believe that Sherwood won't let us find ourselves in another relegation battle.

Difference of opinion then. I'd rather us take a low cost risk on loaning the player with the option to buy than do what Man Utd are doing. They're spending a fortune on Martial, who is the same age as Oulare, and he could work out to be the next David Bellion, young, cost them a fortune (more now in these days of inflated fees) and amount to absolutely nothing.

Could this be part of a 2 player deal from Anderlecht? If we're in talks with Anderlecht, in order to complete a deal for the young keeper, might we have also had a word about Praet?

Flackie, I think that's short sighted. It happens across football. Grealish, Gabby (long ago), Gardner. they've all gone out on loan. Could say the same thing there. If he's available for loan, with an option to buy, as reported, that's not just developing someone else's player, because if we were to develop him and decide he's worth it, we sign him and we've developed our own player. If he's not, we've rented a player and given we've sent Robinson out on loan (oops, we did it again) having another striker as back up wouldn't hurt. The potential upside, according to one of the editors not so long ago he was linked with a number of big Champions League teams, is huge.

We need to take a hard stance with all our players. How much did Ayew cost us? I'd demand more, because now he's proven somewhat) in the prem. If we're not offered what we want, we keep him, he doesn't want to play, let him rot in the reserves. no one can force their way out unless they're out of contract.

I think AndyVilla is onto something. Take the best in the championship, give them half a season in prem, some might do so well we sell them on, but for all who stay, along with SOME of the current players, you go all out next season to come right back. The trouble is, just as with what got us into this mess, is that it will be Lerner's decision. If he decides he WANTS to splash, and go all-in trying to keep us in the league so as to not further devalue his investment, that's what we'll do, and then we'll pay that price next season. It's an endless loop.

Villadave - I wasn't meaning to be harsh on them (realize may be it sounded that way). I suppose a better context is, neither of them have a history of scoring a lot. Gestede get 20 in the championship last season, but that is one season, and at a lower level and Ayew has never really been prolific. I guess ultimately, I'm not convinced as of yet, and we don't want to find ourselves in the same position as last season, going into January having scored a whopping 11 goals.

He's making more money than we'd ever pay him. He gave up his England place for the money. Isn't going to give yup the money to come back to us!
