Maupay 3 game ban but they can't alter the result.
Second time we have been shafted by inefficient ref.
Who was the guy who got away with a similar act on Grealish at Weobley?
Score could have been different.
Can't the ref etc be sued for being useless?
Sue them for the loss of £160m which ended up creating our money problems during the summer.
Any barrack room lawyers out there?

With all due respect Oldvillan, the ref was/ is not the cause of our money problems.
That honour is placed firmly at the Doctors feet, no question.

2.) 23 Aug 2018 19:02:21
Retrospective action may not help the result but a good way to look at it is that a potential rival are now missing their main goalscorer for 3 matches.

Average performance, lacking flair.
We must give better performances because other sides will not be as generous.
Result is what matters but style is important.
Hope we get some exciting players in someone that can change a game.

With the team missing several of last seasons players and no replacements yet in the squad we were obviously fielding a team far weaker than last season.

The performance reflected that but the result for Bruce and the team was a fantastic one given that fact, yielding that all important 3 points which is our best start since relegation. With fresh additions coming to the squad on a regular basis right up until the 31st August then the squad will only improve with time, especially with the exciting young players now being sought by Bruce and agents. Keep up the great work Bruce and although difficult keep collecting those early points which come September could leave us sitting in a very strong position. UTV.

Considering we struggled to pass the ball 5 yards at times last season I thought there were some decent interchanges.
The ball wasn't bouncing off Jimmy as much as pre season although he still needs to be less selfish.
Defending is still an issue. We were lucky not to concede 3 or 4.
Not a fan of Taylor but he had by far his best game in a Villa shirt. Must have taken tips from Hutton with some of the runs he was making.

Could Spuds be losing interest in Super Jack?
Story is that they are ready to go for Zaha for £45m, cut price deal.
Playing hard ball with Levy may well have worked.

Theoldvillan

1.) 01 Aug 2018 08:33:40
Think you will find levy will come back last day of window and try to still get him on cheap,
He does this time and again so I think,

2.) 01 Aug 2018 09:54:29
New owners will look like clueless mugs if they sell for a penny less than 30 mil. Just can't see it happening .

16 Jul 2018 12:54:44
If, when we lose Jack do we have anyone who can play his role.
It appears that there isn't an English player that can play the midfield, change the pattern, stick in the killer ball
Been stated that Landsbury could do the job for us.
When the inevitable happens Southgate will bring Jack into his squad.
I wish Jack all the success in the world for his future and hope Levy pays up or Jack could end up at Pool and be another occasional player.
Go and show what Aston Villa could have done had they only.!

Mad Mick and Big Sam must be rubbing their hands with glee.
Our cherished club are in turmoil trying to get someone to manage the ship.
It appears that anyone/ everyone is afraid of the opportunity. Could it be that fan power has struck and all the good guys are saying "no thanks? "
JT seems to be the only brave man willing to take the plunge. So what are the owners going to do. I don't know, do you?
Every day gets more embarrassing being a supporter of AVFC.
As supporters we need to shut up and simply wait wait wait.

Deano!

Someone else made a post about Benitez being pissed off with various factors at NUFC.
It does seem that he could be nudged into a move from the north east.
Should we try and help him along his way with an offer he could find hard to resist?

Rafa is a great shout and top of my list a top manager that we realistically could get, he has a fantastic CV and given time and resources he could turn Villa into a real force.
I believe if he had got in the players he wanted as appossed to the Liverpool recruitment committee selecting the players which Rafa did not want then he would have won the PL title.
I doubt we will get him as he and our new CEO have history.
I definitely don’t want Dean Smith as good a job as he has done at Brentford Villa is way to big for him and we’ve been here before taking managers with potential if you remember Graham Turner and more recently Paul Lambert.

{Ed001's Note - Rafa never had a recruitment committee at Liverpool. He did choose the players. The recruitment issue he had was trusting his scouts and not checking out some of the signings himself. The one that stands out is Alberto Aquilani, who he signed having never seen him play and paid big money for him and was devastated when he seen him in training as he turned out to be a total flop. Rafa had almost complete control at Liverpool.}

and, unlike many of those touted around him, he has experience of winning trophies.

We can move forward and get another manager who will be supported.
NSWE bought cheap and I guess that they will fund whatever is required.
Were Man. City not in a similar situation when taken over.
Look at them now.
It took some years, and a couple of quid, but if we can get anywhere near them I will be happy.
Hopefully we will achieve before my time comes. So come on guys, onwards and upwards to the promised land.

Have to admit that all interest in our AVFC has been drained out of me.
Final straw was that missed pen last night.
Who told Whelan that he should take a pen? Why didn't other players tell him to f off? Some evidence that they didn't care.
Shameful.
They don't care, now, neither do I.
Until I get some indication that AVFC are going to change the failing area's I will just wait for the scores on the TV.
My wife and the cat will be much safer in the near future.
See you all later.
OV.

From one oldvillian to another I get where you are coming from, most of us are in a similar place, however I know for sure it's in your blood and you will always care. Three seasons of Bruce has done this to you, don't go away keep banging the drum so the new owners can't ignore us. Sad as it is to say this season is probably already a write off. Let's get a manager who will get Villa park rocking. Do don't give up ( I bet you didn't when were in the third division) . In terms of the wife and the cat they must be well used to what ever is thrown at them, change may be too big of a shock.

2.) 03 Oct 2018 09:25:46
Oldvillian,

Don't look at the score for Saturday I will tell you now the result defeat again!
On field and off field we look a mess,
Fans and manager Ville abuse
Assistant manager caulderwood telling fans to f**k off!
All in all very toxic,

02 Oct 2018 21:43:44
Nobody in their right mind let's Whelan take a spot kick, especially in the last 10 seconds.
Who made that decision?
Chester is not a captain, this is where we miss JT.
An on field RSM, getting to the players, encouraging, bollocking them when needed.
Nothing coming from the touch line!

Theoldvillan

1.) 02 Oct 2018 22:12:09
You mean whealan the goal machine midfielder who rivals lampards record 😂😂😂😂😂😂
We’re there no strikers on the pitch? Why didn’t one of them grab the ball ant tell whealan to sod off as your rubbish.

Unbelievable Jeff.

All of them.
We need any players that can stand up.
Our owner has dropped us deep in the veritable.
How the mighty are falling due to the incompetence of our management.
Even I have sorted out my boots, haven't been seen for 60 years, but if I'm needed I am ready.
Dodgy knees, stiff ankles and little balance.
I'll even pay for the privalege.

I posted that we had the squad that was well able to get promoted several weeks ago when many were wailing at the gates of despare.
All it will take is a change of approach by our manager.
You can get a good price at the bookies.

Because of the situation we have to look at options and a rename of Villa Park would be acceptable.
Should it happen then I would want to see it still named "***********Villa Park. "
However beggars can't be choosers and what a sponsor wanuts.

Deadly was selling to the Dr.
After the process yes, he sold to the Dr.
The essence of the post is to question the Dr's ability to actually buy AVFC with his own money.
It does seem that he does not have the ready cash as it stands at this momen t.

Many posters asked the same question when it was announced that Deadly was selling to the Dr.
No body seemed able to answer and I would hazard a guess that there will not be an answer forthcoming.
Some years back Man U were "sold" to a geezer who worked on the idea that he could pay off the buying price by monthly payments. In the end he went off to a northern club and may still be there.
Many business's are bought on the expected turnover to come so the Dr has not invented anything new.
What is going on suggests that the Dr has limited wealth and unfortunately we were told this by supporters of other clubs at the time of the change.
What is happening does make me think that the Dr is not what we thought originally, if he was he should be able to rake out the £40m that we need!

How much will our owners spend?
Simple question. Answer that and you have the answer.
They bought very cheap so they got a bargain.
It does not mean that they will spend freely over the next few years. Billionaires don't spend money, they accumulate wealth by getting "things" cheap and selling high.

1 wizard, are you really a Villa fan?
Ellis was the last real chairman. He sold to the cowboy who promised that he would "look after" the club but not the way we expected.
I will go as fat to say that had "deadly" still been in charge we would not be in the present position.
R. I. P Deadly Douglas.

Now welcome to Dean Smith and our JT.
Let's move forward and look forward to playing the game the same way.

Trying to avoid sentiment, I would avoid Petrov.
I think that we can do far better and this time it must be right.
Not sure the Henry/ Terry combo is what we need. Terry is a figure head that proved his worth last season.
Henry was number 3 in the Belgium management team. Martinez was 1st.
If we are to progress and get back to the prem we need leaders, proven leaders that others will follow.
Terry has this credential but not the management skill. Would he come and be a number 2 to a lower level manager? This our owners cannot know for sure.
Like all of us I wait to see who comes to take us the reins of our horse. Who can tame a runaway pedigree that has to be allowed to run but be controlled at the same time?

We tend to think that Chester is a leader, captain!
He is not dominant within the team.
Need an arse kicker to remind players what the game is all about.
Nice guy but not a captain.
Unless we get a couple of "heroes" at the back we will continue to ship goals.
Before posters leap up and shout that Chester did not play today, I am thinking about the season as it is.
Last year we had a player motivating the team, this year zilch.
No matter who we play upfront there efforts, so few, will mean nothing.
Also we miss big Sam currently helping WBA.
