Assuming the rumour is correct, should we sell Kodjia to Angers and for what price or do we keep him as Tammy will almost certainly not be with us next season?

Theoldvillan

1.) 21 Jan 2019 15:46:10
Yes oldvillan I think we should sell him, Kodjia does have his moments, and can at times change a game, problem is he is not a team player.
I think he is a bit erratic at times and would be a much better player if he looked up occasionally to see where he is going, and spot his team mates movements.
Sell and invest in a quality attacking midfielder, reason being we are very ordinary when Jack is out.

2.) 21 Jan 2019 17:02:24
I'd agree with the post from Villadave. Kodjia can look like a world beater at times, the trouble is that those times are far too rare. His ability to conjure something out of nothing is far outweighed by his lack of composure, the way he often delays a pass or a move breaks down because of him not being in sync with others. To be fair he has been played out of position this season though. He's still got a decent record, decent market value and certainly wish him well after helping us out, but time to move on and get a bit more value for money. easier said than done I know in January though. Same could be said of Bolasie too. must be well over £100k a week between them so let's free up some space in our squad, develop Green and get maybe another in to make a bit more of a consistent contribution.

According to other sites Charlie Colkutt signing imminent.

Theoldvillan

1.) 20 Jan 2019 15:42:17
Why do we want him he can't even get in Shrewsbury team.

2.) 20 Jan 2019 18:43:35
Don't ask me.
I want a miserable centre half who hates everybody, including his team mates.
Someone they have to keep locked up and starving until kick off.

08 Jan 2019 21:25:04
Just seen a report that we are looking at Adam Reach from the Owls and talking 10m.
Anyone else know about this?

Theoldvillan

1.) 09 Jan 2019 05:38:44
Yes I've seen a few reports of this. Be an interesting one to follow.

2.) 12 Jan 2019 16:50:31
Take more than signing him to stop us sliding down the league.

02 Jan 2019 14:01:44
Wolves in with £18 for Abrahams as they want a permanent deal.

Theoldvillan

1.) 02 Jan 2019 15:43:23
Reports now coming out - Chelsea have no interest of selling Tammy.

I can't help but ask "why did Bruce fail to get these players to perform? "
Most of the players were bought to the club while he was manager but nearly all failed to respond. Our style has changed from defending at all costs to attack and attack.
I love watching after the way the team performed early in the season.
Well done Dean Smith.
You have woken a sleeping giant.
Thank you sir.
The oldvillan.

Theoldvillan

1.) 02 Dec 2018 09:16:57
Did not work for Bruce because he is a manager who's first thought is to defend and hope to a chance to win.
Smith just goes for it home and away,
Very simply really bruce is a dinosaur.

2.) 02 Dec 2018 14:54:10
I think for a start playing Tuanzebe at CB, which is where he played pre-season.
Bolasie has only recently got himself fit.
And playing attacking football with an attacking team.

3.) 02 Dec 2018 19:05:29
Oldvillan, surely the answer to that is very simple, most on here have spoken about players being played out of position, and only having one system. "negativity"
Can`t we forget about the bloke, he gave us a degree of stability, and now he has gone.

4.) 03 Dec 2018 14:59:30
Dave none of us should forget, owners need to understand that there is no place in modern football for the likes of Bruce, mad mick, puliss, Hughes, Big Sam, moyes, keeping on reminding fans of these guys failings may just save other clubs from the dross that these so called experienced managers dish up. Good news is message is getting through not many of the aforementioned are currently employed in league football.

5.) 03 Dec 2018 15:08:27
Good we need more managers like southgate, deano, howe, h8 too say wolves manager, klopp, n poch.

6.) 03 Dec 2018 16:29:50
I agree with your theory scotcaffu, the fact is it won't be me reminding them about out of touch managers,
Other clubs can have that type of manager with pleasure if they want.
Bruce has gone, and I could not be more pleased.

7.) 08 Dec 2018 09:49:12
I was trying to consider how Bruce would have set up for games away to boro and WBA. It makes it clear why he failed. I predict this could be close to his selection.
Nyland
Rb tuanzebe
Cb Chester
Cb Jedi / bree
Lb Hutton
Rm Elmo
Cdm Whelen
Cm hourihane
Lm kodja
Am Grealish
St Abraham

Subs bolasie, hogan, bla bla bla

So little creativity. Compare that to smiths selwction. Admittedly he has less injuries to contend with and bolasie was always going to take time. But I also believe smith would not have loaned out elphick or green. All if’s, but’s and maybe’s but it’s fairly easy so see why Bruce failed.

Dave,
Going to say it again.
We need a pitch leader, an arse kicker!
When they decide to play we are good.
Too often the players think they just turn up to get their money. So the need for someone to remind them of the supporters needs before we slide down.
C'Mon Deano, get a raw boned hungry individual who is happy to tell our super stars that they are only as good as the league position and the results. Someone that they will fear if they don't give at least 150%.
Until this happens we will sit in the middle of the table and be ripe for players of lesser calibre to give us a whipping.
Get your boots out Dave, I found mine.
You knew where mine were.
Toe cap polished, studs knocked in so the nails don't show.

Theoldvillan

1.) 19 Jan 2019 21:00:00
You are right oldvillan, we do need a Mellberg or someone of his type
an arse kicker who can defend.
The problem is the players not the managers, end of.
Had to throw my boots away mate, woodworm in the studs.

13 Jan 2019 17:02:56
It takes very little knowledge or wisdom to see that our defence is totally inadequate.
Bree not worth a place.
Chester on borrowed time
Taylor, taxi
Elphick from hero to zero, Hull to VP.
There are no leaders on the pitch and we can see what JT did last year.
I regularly state that we need an arse kicker to motivate our players. Terry did just that.
Promotion? Don't make me laugh.
With TZ out money needs to be spent at the back. Kourtney House needs time but we need a hungry East European number 5 to steady the ship.
Overall assessment, rubbish.
Where are my boots?

Theoldvillan

1.) 13 Jan 2019 19:22:19
Your boots are in the arse kickers cupboard oldvillan.
I would put money on you being a defender back in the day.

2.) 14 Jan 2019 10:27:38
About right Dave.
Slow but effective.

They might get past the centre half but I lay in wait.
Bit like a sweeper but more like a chimney sweeper.

3.) 14 Jan 2019 14:49:52
Love it.

4.) 14 Jan 2019 18:03:55
Did you ever come into contact with those shin bruisers with a solid toe cap, strap across the front and nail in studs.
Must get em out.
Might get a call from Deano, soon.
Didn't get any of those ponsy boots that are now popular till I was almost past it.
Those were the days.
Stan Lynn, Con Martin, Ivor Powell, Moss brothers.
Now getting nostalgic.

11 Jan 2019 08:58:32
We are all delighted that Tammy has made his choice but at the end of the seas? on will we be able to buy him for whatever price Chesea put on him.?
Thinking forwards towards next season should we be lookingat Maupay as a replacement and buying him now.
Deano knows him well and he does have a bargaining tool in Hogan who I think would be delighted to go back to Brentford.
Could be good for us and Brentford.

Theoldvillan

1.) 11 Jan 2019 14:04:53
Cant think that far ahead mate.

2.) 11 Jan 2019 16:26:15
Someone must be looking ahead!
This is essential in any business if success is to be acheived.
Deano keeps hold of Tammy till May then has to look for another striker as Chelsea will definitely want Tammy back. Maupay by then 25m or with another club.
Even worse Tammy changes his mind on Jan 31st and we have no time to look for another striker.
15/ 18m now for Maupay and we are quids in as the lad will develop with us.
Deane would likely play Tammy for 60 mins then Maupay till the end or any other pattern.
Hogan needs to go elsewhere to get a game as he is only a bit part at the moment. Kodjia needs to know that he is not guaranteed time on the pitch.
The time is now to formulate a side that can rise to the heights of the prem. This is what the top teams are doing but in a way we cant. They buy players then loan them out till needed or to stop other clubs buying them
Old business addage states "Fail to prepare, prepare to fail. " We've been there and failed and I don't want that experiance again.
Perhaps this year we fail again so preperation must be for next year and a great push.
NSWE appear to be willing to wait for success but they will not wait for ever.

3.) 11 Jan 2019 21:47:54
Chelsea only have till the 14th to recall him, so Tammy leaving at the end of the month is not a concern, if we buy a centre forward at the moment he won't play, so things are not so urgent, let's see what the end of Jan brings.

01 Jan 2019 11:50:57
Has Tammy asked for his loan to be cut short?
Seems he may not be as committed as we all thought as a national daily says he has asked Chelsea to recall him so that he can join a prem club!

Theoldvillan

1.) 01 Jan 2019 12:18:41
Some fake twitter accounts would suggest not. I prefer to see what happens in the real world.

2.) 01 Jan 2019 12:24:23
Don't believe everything in papers.
Lot of garbage now transfer news.

3.) 01 Jan 2019 12:31:32
Yeah but if its true we can forget about play offs, personaly this season is a free hit for smith its nxt season that matters too many mistakes were made by bruce.

24 Dec 2018 13:02:47
We need a complete back line, no question.
Had we had my old Mom playing we would have done better and she still wears the old shin kicker boots.
TZ holds the line together.
If only Terry was still there.
Defensively we are relegation contenders.
Deano will have to upset El Mo, Chester, Hutton, Taylor, Bree, Bree, Bree and Bree.
I have never seen us ship goals so consistently since our relegation to the old 3rd div.
Front line and attacking miss produce the goods but when it gets past the last 3rd of the pitch all hope is gone.
Our forwards must fear that when they lose the ball we will concede a goal.

All of them.
We need any players that can stand up.
Our owner has dropped us deep in the veritable.
How the mighty are falling due to the incompetence of our management.
Even I have sorted out my boots, haven't been seen for 60 years, but if I'm needed I am ready.
Dodgy knees, stiff ankles and little balance.
I'll even pay for the privalege.

I posted that we had the squad that was well able to get promoted several weeks ago when many were wailing at the gates of despare.
All it will take is a change of approach by our manager.
You can get a good price at the bookies.

Because of the situation we have to look at options and a rename of Villa Park would be acceptable.
Should it happen then I would want to see it still named "***********Villa Park. "
However beggars can't be choosers and what a sponsor wanuts.

Deadly was selling to the Dr.
After the process yes, he sold to the Dr.
The essence of the post is to question the Dr's ability to actually buy AVFC with his own money.
It does seem that he does not have the ready cash as it stands at this momen t.

100%.
Lerner pissed him off and off he went.
One can only believe that had he stayed we may have been where Spuds are now, but the cost would have been massive.
However, with the money now available we could have been ok.

Maupay talked about.
Fuchs should do just that.
Kauston house said to have fee agreed.

Saturday the defence had a total off day and should be allowed the rest of the season elsewhere.

Can NSWE not clear FFP?
Looks like we will have this round our necks forever!

Is Deano being restricted by FFP or lack of funds?

Deano looking at Maupay to solve the problem.
Still have Hogan who scored a lot for Bford
What about a cheeky small bid for Grabban?
Kodjia, Davis.
All there but Abrahams is streets ahead.
More important is who will help us stem the flow of goals against?
