Average performance, lacking flair.
We must give better performances because other sides will not be as generous.
Result is what matters but style is important.
Hope we get some exciting players in someone that can change a game.

With the team missing several of last seasons players and no replacements yet in the squad we were obviously fielding a team far weaker than last season.

The performance reflected that but the result for Bruce and the team was a fantastic one given that fact, yielding that all important 3 points which is our best start since relegation. With fresh additions coming to the squad on a regular basis right up until the 31st August then the squad will only improve with time, especially with the exciting young players now being sought by Bruce and agents. Keep up the great work Bruce and although difficult keep collecting those early points which come September could leave us sitting in a very strong position. UTV.

Considering we struggled to pass the ball 5 yards at times last season I thought there were some decent interchanges.
The ball wasn't bouncing off Jimmy as much as pre season although he still needs to be less selfish.
Defending is still an issue. We were lucky not to concede 3 or 4.
Not a fan of Taylor but he had by far his best game in a Villa shirt. Must have taken tips from Hutton with some of the runs he was making.

Could Spuds be losing interest in Super Jack?
Story is that they are ready to go for Zaha for £45m, cut price deal.
Playing hard ball with Levy may well have worked.

Theoldvillan

1.) 01 Aug 2018 08:33:40
Think you will find levy will come back last day of window and try to still get him on cheap,
He does this time and again so I think,

2.) 01 Aug 2018 09:54:29
New owners will look like clueless mugs if they sell for a penny less than 30 mil. Just can't see it happening .

If, when we lose Jack do we have anyone who can play his role.
It appears that there isn't an English player that can play the midfield, change the pattern, stick in the killer ball
Been stated that Landsbury could do the job for us.
When the inevitable happens Southgate will bring Jack into his squad.
I wish Jack all the success in the world for his future and hope Levy pays up or Jack could end up at Pool and be another occasional player.
Go and show what Aston Villa could have done had they only.!

Bonattini coming to VP?
That's the info coming out.
Good news?

Apparently EFL are looking at Wolves inhouse relationships.
Questions from several teams asking if what is happening is totally legal.

I just read about it, I’m still of the belief that we should just concentrate on ourselves and get up off our own backs and hard work, let them crack on if that’s the way they want to run their club. I highly doubt anything will come of these investigations and doubt even more it would result in points deduction or any serious punishment. Whilst reading about this tho I’ve read from a few sources that the premier league have already said they won’t allow them to run the club in the same way, should they be promoted. Whether they mean having a super agent so heavily involved or just the way they go about transfers I haven’t got a clue but it’s interesting and would be good to watch from the outside should they go up.

2.) 09 Mar 2018 13:41:46
I agree we can't change anything they are doing . Just support our great club like we all do. Besides efl already happy with what wolves have done. Utv VTID.

Another typical Bruce game.
Loads of ball but no idea.
If we don't capitalise on 10 men how are we going to get on when we play a full team.
C'Mon SB let's get attack minded.
Faint heart nev er won a fair lady.
Best form of defence is to attack!

I would really like to know how far along the route are we to bringing in a few loan eyes.
Not many unfounded rumours, only people's opinions.
Being a Villa supporter is a bit like being the wife of Henry VIII, you live day to day in hope that you hear something positive within 24 hours.

1.) 18 Aug 2018 08:45:06
Very true, I think we all would. What we know so far is that the players we are interested in i. e. Snodgrass, Abrahams, Gallagher, Onomah and the Newcastle pair are apparently not available so who are the realistic targets that we are after. We need a LB and Sam McQueen is the name in the frame here. We have let both Mitch Clark and Suliman leave on loan so another CB is a must but apart from Clarke I have seen no one linked since the Aussie after the world cup (probably means Jedi is inked in here) . If we get Handley I think we lose one of our current Def Mids. but Italy transfer window now shut so hopefully Thor is safe. All forward/ wide options going to take some mean negotiations to get so who is next up. I would like Marcus Maddison loan to buy from Peterborough but this link seems to have cooled. Anyone know of any other names linked?

2.) 18 Aug 2018 11:33:24
Brucie must think he’s got people coming in, because the amount of U23 he’s let go on loan . Not just U23, but some of our better ones .

Well, half time.
The kit looks better than the team.
Yeovil want it but it looks like we expect it.
Can't players see that they have to make the space, it doesn't just appear?
Very disappointing.

Theoldvillan

1.) 14 Aug 2018 21:14:33
Awful performance.

2.) 14 Aug 2018 22:30:46
We allow opponents to pass it straight through us so we assume it must always be possible. What our players don't realise is most defenders and midfielders actually try block the ball.

09 Aug 2018 14:34:08
I only hope that our owners stick to their words and keep super Jack.
He will be disappointed but things like this happen in the ordinary world. Boss tells you that you have been given another great job, he then is moved elsewhere and your new boss tells you that you are going nowhere.
I guess that the new men intend to build around Jack and I think we go 100% with that.
If we are going well at mid season they will ensure that the manager will get the funds to add strength to the team.
Well done to NSWE, and hopefully Jack will realise that top dog at VP is better than being just another dog.
Come on Jack, let's go.

Theoldvillan

08 Aug 2018 17:40:35
Levy will not be held to ransom as he is arrogant and believes in his own negotiating skills.
He will anticipate Super Jack asking for a move to put pressure on NSWE to let him go to SPUDS as this is Jacks desire. They have been tickling his fancies all summer.
How I wish we can keep him if only to stick one up Levy.
If we get off to a great start and stand atop of the champs at the New Year Jack will see his dreams come to fruition with his AVFC?

Theoldvillan

1.) 08 Aug 2018 18:51:46
Imo if Jack goes to Spuds he'll play 2nd fiddle to Alli, which is a joke, if that's the case, buy him back if we go up, not like they can double the price if he ain't a regular starter?

UTV.

All of them.
We need any players that can stand up.
Our owner has dropped us deep in the veritable.
How the mighty are falling due to the incompetence of our management.
Even I have sorted out my boots, haven't been seen for 60 years, but if I'm needed I am ready.
Dodgy knees, stiff ankles and little balance.
I'll even pay for the privalege.

I posted that we had the squad that was well able to get promoted several weeks ago when many were wailing at the gates of despare.
All it will take is a change of approach by our manager.
You can get a good price at the bookies.

Because of the situation we have to look at options and a rename of Villa Park would be acceptable.
Should it happen then I would want to see it still named "***********Villa Park. "
However beggars can't be choosers and what a sponsor wanuts.

Deadly was selling to the Dr.
After the process yes, he sold to the Dr.
The essence of the post is to question the Dr's ability to actually buy AVFC with his own money.
It does seem that he does not have the ready cash as it stands at this momen t.

Many posters asked the same question when it was announced that Deadly was selling to the Dr.
No body seemed able to answer and I would hazard a guess that there will not be an answer forthcoming.
Some years back Man U were "sold" to a geezer who worked on the idea that he could pay off the buying price by monthly payments. In the end he went off to a northern club and may still be there.
Many business's are bought on the expected turnover to come so the Dr has not invented anything new.
What is going on suggests that the Dr has limited wealth and unfortunately we were told this by supporters of other clubs at the time of the change.
What is happening does make me think that the Dr is not what we thought originally, if he was he should be able to rake out the £40m that we need!

Like Shane Long, but why are we not getting younger players?
We will not progress till we get new thinking about style etc.
Leeds have their new coach and are looking vg and are now favourites to top the table.
We continue to look pedestrian while others are looking at pace.
Seems we still have the attitude, "if you can't score we can't lose" which is ancient football.
Let's play, to score first, and keep going forward till we score a second. The only time we did this last season we scored 4 against the team that won the league.
Come on Bruce, give the supporters what they want, give us a Brucie bonus, PLEASE!

Kodjia is a show pony.
On the pitch to be looked at rather than perform.
His goals 2 seasons back went to his head after he was given prem pay packet. Now he believes all the words said about him when he was scoring.

New words are greedy, lazy and not a team player.
No player, not even super Jack is bigger than the team.

Knockart on loan?
Don't want to be rude but what planet are you on?
Arguably BHA's talisman and the fans would rip the ground down before knockart was allowed to leave.
Would we allow Super Jack to go on loan to Scunthorpe?
