Agreed. Given a choice I would greatly prefer Charlie Austin to Adebayor. One is a potential investment in the future, the other possibly only a one season gap filler.

I have to agree. He was off, failed the medical and is now staying.

To be fair though, he did sign a new contract in Jan with a buy out clause would have given us £8m instead of nothing had he let the contract run down. So I think he gets credit for that.

I don't think anyone can really expect a player to turn down a massive pay rise, even if it means bench time.

This is something to put behind us all now and look forward to next month.

A final note. This tale, and others like it, should make players wary of the actions they take on the road to a new club. Can you image the situation for Sterling should his move to Man C also fall through. By comparison, the actions by FD are positively upfront and honest.

Well. he has money, ambition, and access to developing a near 2bn strong fan base for the club. I think this could work for me. :-)

Having said that, the other 2 potential buyers mentioned both come with great credentials so any of these three get my support.

I think we've seen good and poor with Ron. Some great strikes, but has been questionable on many occasions. His performances in the World Cup put him favourably in the spotlight but that was playing at Full Back not Centre Half. Injuries and penalties are other items on his downside.

I think we have a need to look for better consistency and leadership.

The real problem with Adama is that once he has the ball he just doesn't know how to pass. This has been the case in almost all the games he has ever played in.

He needs to take on defences, something he can do with ease, but then look up and make the killer pass into the box as defenders are coming out to cover him. Do that and he's worth every penny he earns.

Against Rotherham he had one run, did the hard work well, but didn't pass and lost the ball. Other players need him to grow up and play for the team not himself. In many ways he is playing now like the young Ronaldo did when he joined United.
