AVFC have bid for Carlos Sanchez, the CDM from Elche is exactly what we need, a strong player who would be perfect next to Westwood and Delph

Villa4Ever

1.) Never heard of him.

2.) I don't understand why it is so important for us to have heard of someone for it to be a good signing. Do people not realise that at some point in their career the big name players was unknown. There's just no satisfying some of the fans. We get experience (they are washed up) we get up and coming youth ( never heard of him). Come on guys you need to show more faith. I personally would rather us win games through shear hard work rather than buying the leaugue. rant over haha

3.) Tell you what, Sanchez would be a great signing, especially for the position we find ourselves in at the minute, QPR, Everton also rumored for him. I also saw an article saying United were looking to get him in as a squad player. this is a signing i'm really hoping comes off, can see him having a Benteke'esque impact, as in a few great seasons and seeing his valuation rocket. ps i'm also quite behind the Cissokho move, hoping they both come in, then I wouldn't be too dis-heartened if that was all our business, although i'd love another forward

4.) Dannybronx has a legit point what about benteke and bacuna

5.) Those were two good young signings but there have been way too many unsuccessful young signings to make us loose confidence eg tonev, bowery, helenius, sylla, Bennet and Luna. It's not surprising no one wants any more unknown youngsters

6.) You Can not count Helenius, the guy was never given a chance was he.

7.) The young signings mentioned were not given enough time. Sub appearances are not a fair crack of the whip. Agree that some of them have not hit the ground running but then again the lack of senior players around them cannot have helped

8.) I said I've never heard of him but I didn't say that this was a bad thing.
My point is that I just can't agree with the excitement of the post above and pretend to be happy with a potential signing that I've never heard of. And just because the player is good on Football Manager or YouTube doesn't mean he will be good in real life.

9.) People seem to be talking about this guy as if he is a young up and coming player who has the potential to increase in value over the years. the guy is 28.

10.) Regardless of his age, he'd still be a welcomed signing, people say we need a CDM then when we are linked with one they complain, I don't understand.

11.) It's almost impossible for 4-5 young players to be successful when all are playing together an learning at the same time, I'd say the players signed have ability and potential but playing them in an already struggling team an expecting them to perform is unrealistic.

>Scg87

12.) Why is 28 old? I can't believe that anyone thinks that a 28 year old has little future. Think about Gerard, Lampard, Barry, all in the twilight but able to do a job. In some areas of sport 28 is reaching maturity, both in strength and mind. Just reflect that men start to grow up at 30 when our brain rules our body rather than our balls ruling our brain. Ask any women, they all know.

13.) When I mentioned sanchez being 28, I didn't mean it as a bad thing. i'm aware 28 is aften when players start to come into ther prime and heaven knows we could do with some experience and presence in our midfield.

I only mentioned his age as is seemed the tone of the debate was about him as an up and coming youngster, which he isnt

14.) He also had a solid World Cup for Columbia, I would welcome this deal with open arms, as it's just what we need, a strong defensive midfielder and at 28 he's seen it all and got the tshirt

Aston Villa are linked with 20yr old Brian Lenihan, a full-back from Cork City who is also capable of playing in CM; he is a young prospect who has been backed to be better than Coleman in a couple of years, is performances have attracted interest from Arsenal, Celtic and QPR, however it is rumoured the player would prefer a move to Villa park as they have a great youth development and he would get more play time. If he decides to move to another club villa will turn there attentions to Kelly from Liverpool (loan) who is a RB predominately who can also play CB. another options is Wass who players is trade in Ligue 1 with Evian, he is 25yrs old who can play RB or RW, this rumours have signalled the loan move of Lowton to Middlesbrough, as he is deemed surplus to requirements at AVFC.

Villa4Ever

1.) "Great youth development" - When exactly was that? On the day another of our supposedly highly rated youngsters fails to make any impact and signs a 3 year contract with MK Dons!!

2.) Caruthers was only rated highly by users of this site

3.) In that case, it proves the point even more. He was rated by fans but not the management. However we have produced nobody better in recent years!

4.) Daniel Johnson, when he is given a premier league chance will shine. Jack Grealish is starting to get his chance. Both better overall footballers than Carruthers imo.

Cleverly would be a good signing, he's 10x better than Sylla and El Ahamdi, so can all deluded fans be quiet and get behind the player and support him

What a victory, the whole defence was solid, with Cissokho being the stand out player. Going forward we looked quicker and more direct, this is without Sanchez, Benteke and Bent playing. In Lambert we trust ( all his signings put great shifts in)

Starting XI vs Stoke

Guzan
Hutton Okore Senderos Vlaar Cissokho
Delph Westwood
Zog
Bent Weimann

Villa4Ever

1.) I'd go
Guzan
Hutton Okore Vlarr Cissokho Richardson
Delph Westwood
Bacuna N'Zogbia
Weimann

2.) I would have
Guzan
Okora. Vlaar. Senderos.
N'zogbia. Westwood. Cissokho.
Richardson. Cole.
Weiman.
Bent.

Pace, experience, youth, gile, and goals.
Made to counter attack, and hold on to the ball.
I seriously think this season we will be ok.
Top half, (10+. )
I think we will concede goals, but will score far more than we let in!

Up the villa

Nick

3.) GET real no Delph and Gardner might have the same sort of season as Delph last year, Liverpool fans can not believe we have Cissokho terrible buy

4.) Nick, why would you not play Delph and have Richardson further up the pitch than N'Zogbia

5.) I'd go

Vlaar senderos okore
Hutton. richardson

Delph. Westy. Grealish

zog

bent

Finch

6.) We would get hammered every week with that side Finch.
I think I would play Guzan as well mate.

7.) I'm only thinking no delph for stoke, as there power and height, a quick counter attacking side would be better.
I love delph, but he holds on to ball to long at times, quick feet, passing and movement will beat stoke.
I wouldn't plan on n'zogbia always in front, or behind Richardson, I would like them to be fluid and able to switch

Nick

8.) Nick, sorry but you're just wrong, Delph is our best player by far he needs to play every minute of every game

9.) Oh yea I forgot about the guz, Cheers dave!
I certainly think grealish could be our significant player this season though, judging from pre season it looks like he will get game time too

Finch

10.) Not a prob mate!
And I agree he is our best player! Just picked a formation I thought to win game!
Refreshing though that all if a sudden we have a squad where we can discuss different players in different teams!
Never for one second do I think we will win league, but think we will be ok this year!

11.) I agree Used wisely and Grealish can become a real star.

12.) Would have to go:-
Guzan
Bacuna/lowton vlaar okore cissokho
Zog westwood delph Richardson
Grelish
Bent
4-4-1-1 formation.
Avfcmate

13.) If Villa signed Sanchez it would be
Guzan
Hutton Okore Vlaar Aly
Delph Sanchez Westwood
Grealish Bent Zog
433

We just need some transfer rumours to get everyone excited again, even if they have no solidity, some names going around would singal Villa's intent for the coming season

Villa4Ever

1.) Nacer chadli

2.) Calum McManamen.

This hasn't been a bad summer for Villa with the new signings, injury and bomb squad returns there are reasons to be optimistic
Okore > Baker
Senderos > Clark
Hutton > Lowton
Richardson > Bennett
N'Zogbia > Albrighton
Grealish > Tonev

Hopefully followed up by 3 signings in the next couple of weeks; rumoured to be Ki, Sinclair and a striker the squad is starting to shape nicely. Benteke and Kozak are expected to return earlier than expected and between them there is 25 goals if fully fit.

Villa4Ever

1.) 06 Aug 2014 14:03:18
Hi Guys. This conspiracy theorist in me wants to ask, why no number 9 this term? Does DB getting the iconic 19 shirt mean he is well and truly in the future plans? Whilst the question about Bent is a little tongue-in-cheek, the lack of a number 9 is puzzling, don't you think?

2.) Okore Richardson Grealish the rest are same for same The return of Gary Gardner could be good if he stays fit

3.) I looked at this omission and asked the same question. Perhaps PL has a number 9 waiting in the wings for the £10m to hit the bank.

4.) Troy Deeney?

I couldn't agree more, yes Bojan was a good signing but Senderos is more important for Villa than Bojan will be for Stoke, they have plenty of attacking midfielders/wingers, for example Ireland, Arnuatovic, Moses, Adam, Odemwingie. People need to realise PL has made a solid side, the defence looks 10x better than it did last season!

Actually i've changed my mind, a more defensive approach is needed.
