Big news on takeover as Aston Villa have allowed one consortium in and accepted a bid. Looks very likely the takeover will go through before the season. Paul Smith consortium not allowed in but is out of and American consortium or Chinese consortium however it is unknown which one it is.

Great news! Just hope it goes through quickly so we can sort transfers

2.) 08 Jun 2015 22:34:28
At last we can get rid of the Yank.
We might then get some money for the manager to spend on buying some proven players.
Regardless of what many others think, our managers have been restricted to basement buys hoping that they will develop into prem. players.
£44.6m over 4years was insufficient to develop a team.
Some god buys came in but they may well go before the sale goes through. One can only hope that Benteke waits to see what the near future may bring.

3.) 08 Jun 2015 23:23:55
Apparently an exclusivity agreement has been made giving the party making the bid 6 weeks where we can't entertain any other suitors as well as no disclosure agreements.

So it must be very serious to have got to this stage but we won't know who it is until its completed - Lerner has always said he wouldn't let the club go to people who don't have the clubs best interests at heart so we shouldn't end up with someone like Carson Yeung or Mike A$hley. But with the length of time the club has been up for sale I think he will take the first decent offer on the table.

Like 'The Villain' say's I hope it gets done sooner rather than later so we can get on with rebuilding the team.

Januzaj avaliable on loan in January anyone think we should move for him? I think he would offer a lot of what we don't have for the rest of the season to move us completely safe.

1.) 26 Dec 2014 11:49:48
personally rather we sorted back end out first but think he could be a good signing when he's fit

2.) I tend to agree with Villatid
Our problem is scoring goals rather than letting them in. We are losing games by the odd goal rather than sustaining large beatings
If we have money to spend in January it should be on the attacking third

3.) 28 Dec 2014 01:14:31
Think Mendax has got it completely right, only conceded a set piece against a full strength Swansea and 1 against United, we need reinforcements going forward and that should be the priority!

4.) 28 Dec 2014 01:17:53
As well as keeping hold of what we already have I.E. Delph and Vlaar

5.) 28 Dec 2014 08:45:52
Delph and Vlaar should be sold instead of leaving for free in the summer.

Januzaj would be a decent loan, and signing Pazzini permanently would be great in my opinion.

6.) 28 Dec 2014 14:14:58
If we manage to hold on to Vlaar and Delph and finish in the top half, I belive they would sign a new contract. But I also see where your coming from, if we don't cash in now we run the risk of loosing them for nothing in the summer.

7.) 28 Dec 2014 18:16:13
Rather than the januzaj loaning let's start giving grealish a chance!! Absolutely first class today looked our only threat and that's with benteke in the team.

8.) I'd play them both mate
Benteke upfront with Januzaj one side and Grealish the other; add an attacking midfield player and we'd be sorted
No, scrub that. Because whoever we had, Lambert would persist with Nzog and Weimann

9.) 28 Dec 2014 21:01:28
Couldn't agree more mendax. Lambert needs to leave and let someone else take over that has even just a little bit of common sense. Anyone with a brain can see grealish is a level above Weiman and gabby but lambert as you say will persist on playing them unfortunatly :(

10.) I agree mendax, we need to invest in a number 10 player a young and fit Joe Cole type. Also another forward player who can finish, Gabby is at best a squad player and Weiman is just not good enough, works hard but very wasteful. Zog is a complete and utter let down every game, time to give Grealish a run also Bacuna looks lively and should get a chance

Guys, now we look all but safe just wondering what you guys think our squad could be next season. Say we had £20 to spend and reasonable wages what do you think we got get together. Mine would be:
Tim Krul (about £5 mil)
Kieran Trippier Vlaar Clark Robertson
Westwood(maybe someone else)
Delph Cleverly
Grealish
Benteke Gabby (Austin or ings maybe)
I think we need two new full backs quite desperately and maybe a new a keeper and one of those two strikers would be very nice but apart from that don't think we need to buy a lot more quality this time. Those two fullbacks would fit perfectly into sherwoods way I think. Wondering what you guys think just to get This website going again haha. Don't seem to have much to talk about when we are winning.

1.) 10 May 2015 22:06:19
austin would be good plus phillips, ings is too high rated by bigger clubs so don't think we have a chance. tripper i think is a good shout but think we can get better, and as much as guzan has done for us we need a new boy in sticks, hope now with us pretty much safe we can focus on cup and get that bagged up and have about of euro footy next season gives people more chance of buying the club

2.) 10 May 2015 22:19:53
Another striker is a must. Gabby has got past his "new manager on the scene, I better put a shift in" phase and gone back to his normal lackadaisical approach to the game. Though he was shocking when he came on yesterday

3.) 11 May 2015 09:40:39
Definitely agree with another striker, GK and left back. I like Bacuna at right back so think he has earnt that position at the moment. For me we should snap up Sinclair and get him in the starting line up always looks dangerous and scores goals. It's jut fitting everyone in which i never thought would be a problem for this Villa squad! Thank God for Sherwood!

4.) 11 May 2015 10:57:16
The left back position is an area that needs addressing immediately. Richardson is a liability and needs to go, cissokho is more than adequate as back up but not good enough to regularly start in my opinion.
I think with a full pre-season Bacuna could become a decent right back for us and with Hutton to come in if we're trying to sure things up and hold a lead like against West Ham is a very good option.
I agree strikes about guzan, him and shay are too dodgy and not solid enough if we want to move on. I'd love to get Tim Krul but can't see him joining anyone outside of the top 5/6, maybe Sherwood could convince Jack Butland to join his young English team and "if" we get taken over surely he would have the funds to do so!
We've got to be in the market for Austin as well, he's a born finisher! Imagine him up top with the big man there's 30-40 goals between them easily and both can play up there on their own should one get injured or we need 5 in midfield.

5.) 11 May 2015 16:14:24
We've been looking for a new left back for too long now. Think we need to spend a bit more on someone like Robertson and make sure.

6.) New keeper, right back and a striker. We could also use another midfielder and potentially a left back although I'm quite a fan of Kieran Richardson.

One thing that is for sure is that we need Vlaar, Delph, Cleverley, Grealish and Benteke all in the side. So the formation is really dictated by these guys.

My team would be:

____________Lindegaard

Trippier___Vlaar___Caulker___Richardson

Grealish___Delph___Cleverley___Sinclair

__________Austin___Benteke

That's 4 fairly pricey improvements to the squad. Trippier is an excellent right back and Burnley are down so he will be available. Same applies for Caulker and Austin who will be made available by QPR - both are too good for the Championship. Lindegaard is 3rd choice for United now and is a very good keeper in his own right, could be a very astute purchase!

For the squad I think we should also have a look at Livermore, a bit of steel and a physical presence in the middle - not sure Sanchez quite cuts it.

7.) 11 May 2015 20:01:06
Caulker has been relegated in both the last 2 seasons - keep him as far away as poss from villa park!

Outstanding today, I was a firm sherwood believer when he was appointed and I think I'm an even bigger fan now. He's done everything right with the squad, everything we asked for. He giving grealish a better chance and all the youth to be honest. Nice to see a 16 year old come on although not really expecting much more from him for a few years. He saying all the right things in the interviews he does. Saying this I don't want to get too carried away just yet. Can u get your guys opinions on him just to see if I'm the only one? Thanks!

Haha, ran out of comebacks, in what bit was i 'trying to be funny'?

VillaTID

{Ed001's Note - with your clear lack of any idea what you are talking about while trying to talk down to me, who actually does know what goes on. You do realise that players are given a fitness plan to adhere to over the summer, that the manager sets with his fitness coaches right? Or did you not know that, hence your idiotic comment about Sherwood's training not affecting the player's basic fitness for preseason?

Or perhaps the stupidity of questioning if Poch is working them hard enough in preseason, when everyone with a clue knows that his preseason training is the toughest in the Premier League and he constantly emphasises fitness throughout the season as well. He introduced a second training session each day at Southampton, as he wanted the players to be fitter. He has done the same at Spurs.

Sherwood is used to dealing with youth teams, where the training is better if it is fun and also not too hard in terms of fitness, as kids are developing physically and overdoing it can cause problems. He got the job because he has the right friends, the same reason that Klinsmann was under consideration, who tell people he is good at his job, even though he has never proven to be any good at it. Even as a youth coach he was not particularly highly rated by those who I would trust to know their stuff, rather than his friends in the media.}

Seems from first evidence I have got a bit of a clue. How could sherwoods 2nd half of the season mean they were unfit for this season. That is not sherwoods fault it pochetinos fault not working them hard enough in preseason. Even if they did say that its rubbish as late season training isn't meant to improve fitness that's preseasons job when sherwood wasn't there 👍

VillaTID

{Ed001's Note - seriously? You are just trying to be funny and it is not working. I suppose the comedy in Brum is all left on the pitch these days!}

With all due respect ed I can't see what would make you say that. There's no way he Tottenham would have finished 6th last season if he didn't work them. From what I see of him is that he won't take any s**t from anyone which is exactly what we need. Agbonlahor needs to be taught just because he's been here a while he's not guaranteed to play. Weimar the same and if he can get benteke scoring like he did to adebayor there is no way we will go down. He brought through Kane, mason and Bentaleb into Spurs so hopefully will will see a bit of grealish and maybe Robinson if he can recall him. He isn't scared to try more things which lamberts was. Nothing can get worse that what it is at the moment so at least give the man a chance UTV

VillaTID

{Ed001's Note - perhaps you should speak to some of the Spurs players then, who have said that they struggled early season due to the fact that Sherwood went too easy on them last season and they had lost their fitness edge. So with all due respect, you don't have a clue.}

Oldvillan do you think this is the worst team in villas history? I'm guessing the answer is no. Well why are we breaking all the wrong records? That has to be the manger and coaching. In his time here he's broke the records for the longest time without a goal, the longest time without a clean sheet, the longest time without a win ( which is looking like its going to be smashed again), what worse records are there to be broken? Bradford smashed 4 past chelsea an there an average league one team. We've barely scored that many all season!!!!!!! We don't have league 1 strikers, there not much better than championship granted but niether are many of the bottom teams but we have scored 9 less than any of them. 12 goals is an embarreament of a once proud club. He dropped benteke who by his standards is badly out of form yet when he is out of form he has scored just as many as agbonlahor in half the games but no agbonlahor gets the call. Sanchez has been our best player before the arsenal game but he drops him for headless cleverly. He's spent over 70 million since being here-burnley have spent 7 million- their one point behind us. The bad thing is I could go on. Still think it's all Lerner to blame?
