Agree with all of the comments regarding the level of effort and commitment on Tuesday made you feel proud again. No one has shown that more than Alan Hutton, he is an example to all players that if you really want something work hard, he should be rewarded not only with a new contract but kept on in any capacity to show to all around how to behave when sometimes the chips are down. My player of the season for many reasons.

I agree, should be offered player coach position, everyone saw 2 years ago he isn’t really good enough to be a premier league full back week in week out, however sign someone for the RB position, use Hutton as number 2. Given his attitude and commitment he will work and fight to regain his position, push the new RB to be the best possible player they can. Win win situation.

As we could be playing Derby or Millwall in the playoffs does anyone think we should protect our assets for the playoffs. We don't won't Jack getting injured or sent off and both teams will definitely target him. If we are being honest third place is now realistically beyond us. No one wants to loose but the long game is far more important at this stage.

hopeful

1.) 25 Apr 2018 03:00:54
I think we will be playing Middlesbrough in semi playoff. I'd play the likes of Jack against derby this week and then rest him snoddy and grabban against milwall. All 3 will be important to us in playoffs.

16 Apr 2018 00:11:36
Irrespective of the differences of the various Bruce in, Bruce out camps, we all want the same thing; premier league football, let's hope we win the play offs. should we win, how will the current squad fare and how do you think Bruce will fare in the transfer market? I don't think his record is that good.

Johnstone may not be here
The two full backs, average championship players
Chester premier league quality
Terry won't play in premier league
Jedi heart of steel not premier league
Jack nailed on quality
Lansbury can't make side in championship
Hourihane not good enough
Thor not good enough
Hogan not good enough
Kodja premium league quality
Snoddy might not be here
Albert borderline.

Like it or not it does not make good reading. I agree with WTW based on his signings you can't trust Bruce with the millions we need to spend just to survive should we go up. Should we not go up we can't put up with the status quo.

hopeful

1.) 16 Apr 2018 10:26:09
Valid points in certain respects hopeful

However didn’t Keith Wyness state last year that Villa would build 3 squads?

1- to get out of the championship
2- to maintain place in the premiership once promoted
3- to kick on and challenge in the top half of the table

Therefore the current squad was asembled with one thin in mind to achieve promotion.

2.) 16 Apr 2018 11:39:26
Yes he did. That's the plan.

3.) 16 Apr 2018 15:59:54
Hopeful, agree with all you have said mate, Albert I think is over the border to be honest.
Yeh Ken, I think it is a 3 stage plan, it needs to be though, this team are not good enough.

4.) 16 Apr 2018 16:23:10
IMO I think that there are several players in the current squad who could step up to premier league level

but ultimately that’s the decision of the manager and board . And we have got to get there first 👍.

5.) 16 Apr 2018 16:31:06
So do I, who are the ones you think would step up Ken.

6.) 16 Apr 2018 21:04:12
Jack kodjia chester Johnstone Davis as he developed. That's it for me.

7.) 16 Apr 2018 21:29:00
I agree we do need to spend big but I don't agree with what your saying about Bruce because he didn't sign all of the current squad.

8.) 16 Apr 2018 22:27:40
Dave I would have to go for the following

Johnstone - will sign permanently should we gain promotion
Chester - obviously
Terry - one more year max
Hourihane - I think he needs to be played in the right set up and given a some freedom . I mean Ashley Landcrab Westwood seems to of gone on to play well for Burnley when asked to .
Grealish - potentially one of the best players to come out of villa in 20years
Snodgrass - sign permanently should we get promoted
Adomah - he has another 2 seasons left in him
Andre Green - this kid has tremendous potential should he get an injury free run
Scott Hogan - love him or hate him he runs his socks off and makes such good runs, if Shane long is premier league quality then hogan is also. Confidence player who needs a cuddle
Kodjia - frustrates me greatly, but so unpredictable and can just score for fun

I also do believe that there are some great youngsters coming though who will progress into 1st team players

I believe that Bruce is the right person to gain promotion. I also believe he deserves a chance to keep us up and develop the 2nd phase of the boards plan which is a team to keep us up in the premier league .

However the 3rd phase of the boards plan will see another manager at the helm as Bruce won’t be what xia wants

That’s not to say that I agree with Walk the walk about the style of play Bruce plays as frankly not everyone plays like Man City or wolves!

Man united play boring football but manage to win, so do Chelsea .

Football is a results business, it’s about winning

Only my opinion guys before I get slandered.

9.) 17 Apr 2018 05:09:50
Xia loves Jose and Jose has spoken of villa in high regard so who knows for that 3rd stage when his time at man u is up. Saying that with Mendes being involved at wolves they would also be a possibility.

10.) 17 Apr 2018 13:47:56
Ken, I have to agree with most of what you and Hoeful have said, and I think everyone on this thread have made some good points.
As you all know I have serious reservations about the ability Bruce has, not keen on his style of football at all, but that is for another day, I have never called for his head and he has earned his chance.
Time will tell, and fingers crossed for the playoffs.

11.) 17 Apr 2018 15:51:45
Everyone has an opinion Dave and we are all entitled to one as that’s the democracy we live in .

Personally I would much prefer to watch attractive football, than what certain teams play (us included at times )

However winning should be the first and foremost concern for any team / business . I will use the word business as that is exactly what football has now become.

I would like villa back in the premier league and challenging for honours . Would I accept Bruce in charge winning games and challenging playing 💩 football ovcourse I would .

After all that’s exactly what both Chelsea and Leicester played whilst winning the titles in recent years.

12.) 17 Apr 2018 16:09:48
Tell me about it Ken, I have been a campaigner for freedom of opinions on hear for ages.
And yes, I would also accept the man (Bruce) and his style of play if, and I say if, it kept us in the prem and in the hunt for honours.
But I just can`t see that happening somehow, still never say never.
I would hold my hand very high if I am wrong.

13 Apr 2018 16:19:35
Hopefully we win tonight and secure the playoffs, obviously home advantage in the final gone is preferable. However I feel that we should protect our key players from possible injury. I for one would not like to go in to the playoffs without Jack, Chester, Terry. Jack has been at his very best and in his current form changes.

hopeful

1.) 13 Apr 2018 18:58:42
I think we will be fine mate.

09 Apr 2018 18:24:32
Warnock has near enough been gloating that Cardiff are certs for promotion, in light of Fulham's prolific form and the 3rd place curse in the play offs they must be nervous about their coming games, we should capitalise on this and go for the jugular from the off. Bruce could restore some credibility if he goes for an attacking formation.

1.) 09 Apr 2018 20:48:47

Based on their last posts it looks like we have lost a couple of the most avid posters, this is sad as their passion was obvious. Sadly they did not suffer fools gladly and some of their comments and personal criticisms went beyond acceptable at times. Moving on I for one am happy for people to strongly disagree with my views, that's right and proper, what I can stand is the personal stuff. I have read some very wide words from old villain and villadave.

Perhaps we can have the banter we all like tempered with people's strongly held views. I like others have been contemplating giving up however I love my club and enjoy the debate with passionate fans even when they are diametrically opposed to mine. I hope we are discussing the millions we need and who we trust spending it as this will mean we have been promoted. VTID.

Thank you for the mention Hopeful, I echo your thoughts mate.
I am also happy and accept any disagreement to my posts, that's fine.
I notice you have two disagree`s hopeful, who are they, hiding behind a number again, it makes me laugh.
I wish I had the money to spend lol.

Our failings are down to one man and it will never improve until we have some one with tactical nouse.

1.) 07 Apr 2018 19:27:36
Who would that be? Harry redknapp? #bluenose.

2.) 07 Apr 2018 19:39:48

1.) 31 Mar 2018 22:47:32
We do. You don’t.

17 Mar 2018 19:49:39
A few more like that and we could be in trouble, Bruce lacks the tactical nouse to change things. We are too predictable and every team we play till the end of the season will be aware of the way we play, QPR Preston and Bolton have proved this. In Bruce We Trust brigade will eventually see this. I want to go to Wembley in the play off finals sadly I think Bruce may make this impossible.

hopeful

1.) 17 Mar 2018 19:57:37
Jesus I bet you had your hands rubbing together this week so you could beat this drum again. What a ‘fan’ you are. silent for months, lose two games and there you are.
Yawn yawn.

2.) 17 Mar 2018 20:26:08
People like you make me so angry your boring and predictable Hopeful your not a fan nor a supporter but a double of Victor Meldrew.

{Ed033's Note - Were you Mr. Angry on the Steve Wright in the afternoon show on Radio One?

3.) 17 Mar 2018 20:43:18
Boring, predictable I think you must be referring to Bruce, consistent is the tag you should level at me, check the agree box I am not on my own.

4.) 17 Mar 2018 20:58:01
You haven’t posted in months, you thrive of villa failing because of your dislike for the manager. The players could go out there and take a dump on the half way line and refuse to play and you would blame Bruce. Your boring, embarrassing and not a real ‘fan’ in any sense of the word.

5.) 17 Mar 2018 22:01:02
You are dead right right, consistent is your thing, one drum, and you have beat it consistently in all you say. ’yawn yawn’
So consistent the last time you posted was last year, 27th December.

And yes the agrees are certainly clicking, straight after a loss when FANS emotions are high. However there is nearly as many disagrees.

A fan supports their club, follows their club, stands together with fellow supporters. Ask yourself fellow ‘fan’ how many of these you can say yes to.
Thank you for making this result close to bearable.

6.) 18 Mar 2018 09:45:17
Hmmm, it seems that after a good nights sleep emotions have calmed down and your disagrees out weigh your agrees. I’m one of the worst for coming on here after a defeat and arguing on emotion, however I can always see the clear thrill you get out of Villa winning. How can you explain not posting since the last time we had a bad spell in December? How can you explain every single one of your messages being negative? If you don’t enjoy the success but love the down fall and thrive off it then I hate to break it to you but you aren’t a “fan” of Aston Villa.

06 Jan 2018 20:22:37
I took my twin grandsons down today as a birthday treat, cost me a small fortune, they have both asked for a visit to the dentist for their next birthday, apparently would be more fun and less painful.

hopeful

1.) 06 Jan 2018 21:07:07
Small fortune? Kids tickets were a fiver?

2.) 06 Jan 2018 21:21:07
So for a fiver you get train fares, lunch programmes, villa tracksuits and hot dogs on the way out, silly me didn't see the fiver offer that included all of this.

3.) 06 Jan 2018 21:58:28
Spot on hopeful I love it.
Been there myself mate.

4.) 06 Jan 2018 21:57:54
It's an expensive game when taking the kids mate tell them to keep the faith and explain in football there many ups and downs.

5.) 07 Jan 2018 09:41:24
Take sandwiches, didn’t have to buy them a program or a tracksuit. You wrote it like the club made it expensive, should of cost you max a tenner for ticket an train for each. Give them one of your old scarfs and some sandwiches an there you go, happy days.

6.) 07 Jan 2018 10:19:18
You are right Hopeful, I feel for you mate. It's an expensive day when you take the kids, and you just want it to be a special day so disappointing when we play like we did. Who wants to take sandwiches and an old scarf! Some people think they are God on this site and that they know better than everyone else. Well they don't!

7.) 07 Jan 2018 13:57:52
Sorry for trying to point out how to get an affordable day at the football Danny, you just keep spending a fortune an then moaning about it after, seems clever to me.

8.) 07 Jan 2018 19:43:03
Chris, I'm not spending any money and I not moaning either, just understanding what Hopeful was saying and agreeing with him. What's wrong with that, it seems as though you always seem to have to have the last word on everything, it's as if your word is bond on here and everybody else's views don't mean anything. It's a 'banter' site mate, people chatting and sharing views, lighten up a bit, stop being so serious, it's starting to become boring and predictable. oh here's another negative comment from ChrisAVFC. again. same old same old.

9.) 07 Jan 2018 22:33:32
Lighten up a bit? You need to take a leaf out your own book and stop crying about “people think their god on here” just because I said you can take an old scarf and sandwiches to football😂.

ChrisAVFC your loyalty is honourable, however I feel if he fails as you mention against Middlesboro you like others will want to give him one final chance. He has had enough time and chances, now is the time for change, no more chances. We are one of the poorest sides to watch nothing is improving, in fact it is getting worse. Other clubs have recently acted decisively we must do the same and it needs doing now. Doctor T needs to hear this clearly and act now, no more second (third, fourth, fifth. ) chances.

You know contrary to what you may think i would love to be wrong and will take not one jot of satisfaction to be proved right but just look at what is being served up, this current team and manager will not give us what we deserve and think deep down most of us know this. You are a positive and loyal fan just like I was, it's all been knocked out of me, believe me it's because I cared too much in the past that has made me so cynical.

Tthe recent views of mainbob, WTW oldvillian villadave. All practical passionate and relevant views most pointing to the shortcomings of the manager. If Bruce has the tactical nouse he would have shown this by now, as things are not improving things must change in order that we can get back to our rightful place. This is the message I have posted all season and I don't think things will change.
