There's too much negativity on this page- I don't what we Villa fans expect. First of all people need to stop jumping to conclusions we've only played one league game and people are saying that we'll get relegated. Don't forget, we won our first game last season and look how that turned out. I don't know what people expected of Dr Xia, that he would buy the club and all of the sudden he would sell all of our rubbish players and sign the entire Barcelona first team. We can't do what Man City did at this point because we're in the Championship and none of the decent players want to drop down a division and the fans aren't happy with who we can sign! People were moaning about McCormack signing, saying he was too old to cost 12m. He scored 21 goals last season and it's not like we're paying for him! We need to really get behind the team on Saturday and be the 12th man- these players are already down on confidence and the atmosphere that Villa fans CAN create will definitely change that. Rome wasn't built in a day people, we need to trust RDM and Dr Xia to do what they need to do. I think we won't go up this season but will next season, it'll take longer than a season to wipe the siht out of Villa's eyes that Lerner left behind.

We have never asked for anything like the Barcelona team mate, just that they do the job properly! They obviously fealt
they could give one or two from the relegation clan a second chance, well last night has shown exactly what we have been saying for weeks! No martwe what anyone says we needed to sign the right players first weeks ago giving them enough time to Gel, then get rid of all the rubbish! ! As it stands its the other way found and back to front, as a result we will struggle for half the season end of discussion.

Gabby has played his last game for Villa, will be sold for free and Villa want to sign James Chester from the Baggies.

utv

1.) 08 Aug 2016 22:15:44
Who is James Chester? We don't need Albion cast offs!

2.) 08 Aug 2016 22:26:15
James Chester quality for Wales in the euros, decent replacement for Clark, with a lot less mistakes!

3.) 09 Aug 2016 10:22:22
Sanchez is great at international level but poor at Villa! I always look at how a player performs in his clubs leagur, and to my mind if Albion are willing to let him
go they know something we dont! Its a no no from me.

4.) 10 Aug 2016 02:33:01
Lescott was our last Albion player😊.

31 Jul 2016 10:50:50
Newspapers today say we want to sign Abel Hernandez from Hull, he knows the Championship well and a partnership with Ayew could be lethal. I'd still prefer McCormack though.

utv

1.) 01 Aug 2016 17:57:14
Have Hull even got a manager at the minute?
Can't see point of making a bid for a striker who is just about to start in Prem at a club that doesn't have a manager (i. e. surely the chairman there would want his next manager's thoughts on such a major move)

2.) 01 Aug 2016 20:44:54
Hulls chairman is abit of loose canon. So don't think it makes to much of a difference. But can't see hull going for this deal anyway to be honest. gestede is premiership. Need I say more?

Villa are in a transfer battle with Newcastle over Spanish Segunda Divison striker Naranjo. The 21-year-old scored 15 goals for Gimnastic de Tarragona last season and has a release clause of £2.3 million. I have no idea who he is so I don't have much to say about this, just thought I'd put it out there.

utv

1.) 17 Jun 2016 10:59:01
So the press says.

2.) 17 Jun 2016 10:44:05
he is close to joining Newcastle mate. he's an ok striker but somewhat of a squad addition.

3.) 17 Jun 2016 11:49:26
If its true why oh why are we looking at unknown, unproven foriegn players from lower leagues, have the club not learnt à massive lesson from the nightmare Paddy Reilly caused?! We need proven, or experienced players who understand thé club not just how much they will be paid!

4.) 17 Jun 2016 17:09:08
Who heard of Benteke? Vlaar? Ooo heck let's go back some years. Mellberg.

Also where was Vardy from? Lower league?

5.) 17 Jun 2016 20:20:46
Very good point Ruggerz, but if we get him (if) it will take at least a season for him to adjust to english football (air ball), but i the brief is for us to go back up first time round, so mixed messages, but i fear the bar codes have him already.

6.) 18 Jun 2016 00:50:01
Missing the Point slightly Ruggerz! Benteke was on fire In the belgian league and the premiership already had a number of his countrymen who were doing well here, Vlarr Was also known In this country as was Melberg so not sure errrm what your trying errrm to say?! Those players were also at a higher Level than some of the Rubbish Reilly and or Lamberk signed. My Point is We shouldn't look at lower league unknowns. get it? Lol.

7.) 18 Jun 2016 00:52:19
Also If you hadnt noticed Vardy did well In the Championship before then repeating that In the premiership. Strange comment pal.

8.) 18 Jun 2016 10:33:39
We all have a view about our previous managers, but i would like to say paul lambert was handed a poisoned chalice and then some, mcleish had purchased nzogbia, knowing he had been found guilty of getting one of his mates to take his driving test for him, and he still signed him!,

hand shandy randy promised him this and that only to renege time after time, as for lambert's signings, benteke was one, he had a deal in place for lukaku to decide upon only for the yank to bottle it as usual, not all his signings worked, but bearing in mind what he had to spend and work with. i think he did really well, he even got a scout from a german bundesleague team highly rated to scout for us, but every time he put a name forward the yank bottled it

one name was mane, who was i think 15 or 16 at the time, but old j arthur rank wouldn't put his hand in his pocket, we got gill for a song, but again the owner pulled the plug on 2 other signing which would have enhanced our defence and midfield, so i for one salute you paul lambert, its just a shame that the yank didn't back you, be lucky for the future fella!

9.) 18 Jun 2016 15:53:51
player signed for celta so not to worry.

10.) 18 Jun 2016 18:23:00
Not to worry - Naranjo in Spanish means Orange Tree - methinks we've got enough dead-wood and planks in the squad already .

11.) 18 Jun 2016 18:25:57
Do remember us being in pole for tadic and we got Tonev, dead on for Lukaku on loan randy pulled the plug, same for de bruyne from his Chelsea days.

12.) 19 Jun 2016 07:37:39
People forget really quickly, so again, Paul Lamberto i salute you sir, a fine manager and and a man of integrity, with more class than people realise, SALUTE.

13.) 19 Jun 2016 08:37:17
Harsh, but fair.

16 Jun 2016 20:35:55
Media saying we are looking at Hal Robson-Kanu. Really hope so, a young player with experience in the Championship.

utv

1.) 16 Jun 2016 20:56:31
Hope not he's awful.

2.) 16 Jun 2016 20:52:40
This is where stevey clarke earns his corn hopefully.

3.) 16 Jun 2016 22:15:05
Release by reading. says it all.

4.) 16 Jun 2016 23:01:34
Hardly awful was a handful for smalling and Cahill today, was class first half faded second but so did Wales whole team, I'd Defo have him at villa better than what we've got.

5.) 17 Jun 2016 06:06:30
Runs the channels well and has pace but I don't see him being a lone striker. Has never scored enough goals for me but I believe he could be a decent enough squad player.

6.) 17 Jun 2016 12:05:08
I would like to see Brian Little and Denis Mortimer in charge of recruitment at thé club -knowledge, passion, experience, and love for the club.

So with RDM's exit looking inevitable, who does everyone want to take charge? Big Sam looks like too much of a gamble as he could be banned and the only other manager out there isn't Steve Bruce who would be my choice. I'd never heard of Dean Smith before he was linked with the job, so he'd be a big step in the wrong direction.

utv

1.) 01 Oct 2016 23:35:13
Give Ryan giggs a chance, won't know how good he could be until he has a chance.

2.) 02 Oct 2016 09:53:38
Xia isn't foolish enough to give someone a job who has no relative experience in it or evidence to support that they could do the job, so in other words Giggs will never happen. I'd try an get rowett, all the experience needed, does well with a rubbish team, the noses love him and I'm bored of them having a laugh at us every weekend.

3.) 02 Oct 2016 15:54:12
Errm, so use Aston Villa as a test piece to see how good or bad Ryan Highs might be as a manager?
Yeah, great idea.

{Ed025's Note - i agree mendax, why would you want that excuse for a man to lead you?..

4.) 02 Oct 2016 17:48:53
I wouldn't ED (I mean Giggs of course)
On top of the fact that he has no pedigree as a manager, his talking about the Swansea job while Guidolin is still in place shows a distinct lack of class.

{Ed025's Note - i agree mendax mate..

07 Sep 2016 16:16:20
Does anyone know why Gordon Cowans left? Wish he stayed 😢.

utv

1.) 08 Sep 2016 12:05:49
Steve round and the new fella from southampton are going to bring a new regime in our youth squad upwards, i guess their way or the highway.

shame though, sid will always be pure class, on and off the field, personally, i think their wrong forcing him out, but he's shown pure class with how its been tidied up and presented to everyone, they could have learned a lot from him.

2.) 08 Sep 2016 17:10:22
I'm not saying that Cowans isn't a legend, but I'm glad there is a change. We need to start planning for the future and revitilise the club.

3.) 08 Sep 2016 17:50:45
I tend to agree. I keep hearing about how good we are at youth level but very few make a lasting impression on the first team.

4.) 09 Sep 2016 10:24:06
Whilst, like most, I would view Sid as a club legend, we can’t continually be living on past glories. Perhaps that’s been part of our recent problems – continually looking backwards to the ‘glory days’ instead of forwards, and expecting us to have a team that as good as the 81/ 82 squad whereas actually we haven’t had a team that competitive since … well since 81/ 82. I’m sure we’ve all got our own personal favourite ‘legend’ from that era - Tony Morley was mine – but in many ways I would draw a parallel with the England situation – years of massive expectation from the fans but never delivered on by the team – leaving a void of desperation filled only by ageing saddos still banging on about 1966. If it’s that kind of historic glory we want to cling on to, perhaps we should all nip over to Germany and claim asylum (easy apparently) and start supporting Bayern and the German team – 26 league titles, 8 assorted European Cups, 3 Euros and 3 World Cups since 1966. However, as Villa fans we owe it to ourselves and the team to look forward at what we can achieve from now on rather than hand-wringing at what might have been.
Meanwhile, has anyone got a glass cabinet big enough to put Tony Morley in? I’m going to have him stuffed and put in my front-room ;)

5.) 09 Sep 2016 10:53:40
I'd have given you my glass cabinet mate but I need it for when Mr McGrath and Mr Duran pop their clogs as well as Mr Orwell of course)

20 Aug 2016 21:23:41
Does anyone else think that Ayew is getting a bit selfish? He doesn't seem to pass the ball much anymore.

utv

1.) 20 Aug 2016 23:28:45
Agreed.

2.) 21 Aug 2016 09:21:01
I don't know what game some of these pundits are watching when they saying he's the best player on the pitch. to me he looks lost out on the right and brings very little to the match. he needs to be up top or where ross is. I don't rate him to be honest.

3.) 21 Aug 2016 21:49:40
if he could shoot he would be a great player, runs all day and seems to just glide past defenders--then he gets near the 18 yd box and turns into a sunday league footballer.

07 Aug 2016 19:07:38
On a more positive note, we're still above Newcastle!

utv

22 Jul 2016 14:43:07
Ulloa wants to leave Leicester- would he want to drop down a league and join us?

utv

1.) 22 Jul 2016 15:10:21
He will probably go somewhere else Aston Villa are prepared to wait till all the good players are gone as usual! After last season everybody who watched Aston Villa said we need a new team completely as we managed 3 wins in 38 games and scored the least! But a new owner and a new manager go in and say we are going to take our time nobody as left the club really and not many have come in. So maybe for new ownership and management think that this team is ok! It's not like the season starts soon and we need to go back up or anything don't worry we don't need players let's take our time while we are taking our time players are going to other clubs but hey don't panic we have gabby! premier league easy no problem I'm sure Gabby agbonlahor will get the goals two fires in the Premier League or days are over potent striker we have Rudy gestede is that good we don't need wings to cross to him. The next step we should do is sell amavi because we have the saviour back Joe Bennett. Newcastle Norwich Derby you don't stand a chance wait till joe bennett crosses it for Gabby agbonlahor! Has anybody told Gabby agbonlahor that there's no winter break because he has just come off the phone to Thompson looks like he's off to Dubai in January but don't panic we will probably be up by then. With Joleon Lescott at the back who can stop us? I know everybody likes to talk about transfer rumours but really don't worry the new chairman and manager aren't in any hurry they're not stupid they know we have Gabby agbonlahor!

2.) 22 Jul 2016 15:49:55
You spout the same rubbish day in day out #Mrknownothing I'm glad I don't sit next too you down B6 I would need cotton buds, Ear Muffs then some ear defenders all on top of one another change the bloody record will you your giving us decent villa fans a bad name I bet the eds are fed up too of your constant whining and moaning.

3.) 22 Jul 2016 16:07:12
Pessimism is of the spirit; optimism is of the will.

4.) 22 Jul 2016 16:28:54
Are you sitting on the fence mr.know.it.all?

5.) 22 Jul 2016 17:09:17
Mr know it all, really?

Mr know nothing . Change the damn record, continually chopsin off negativity you .

You sir are no villa fan . Just another guy who likes to moan . Jesus I wouldn't want to be your other half it would be like living with victor meldrew.

Dr Tony said on Twitter that the deal is being delayed because of a work visa. Jedinak is from Australia and Diawara is Guinean so it could be either. I'm not sure how visas work so does anyone know if Jedinak needs a new visa to join us?

This could be a great signing, we really needed a player like him against Sheffield Weds, as long as he's sorted out his attitude.

The truth is that no one can know yet. We haven't seen enough to know what to believe. If you look at the league table at the moment, Huddersfield are 3rd and Newcastle are 17th- I'm confident that they won't finish in those positions. The Championship is a tough league to call, so I think we'd have to wait until about 10 games in to really know where we'll finish.

It hasn't been announced but I assume it'll be Elphick, he was captain at Bournemouth before we signed him. But RDM has a habit of making goalkeepers his captain so Gollini could be a surprise candidate- he was named captain against Cambridge in pre-season.
