This is a new part to a previous link which is slippng down the pages. So carrying on villaDave aVilladaz and co, I know they are some decent players around the lower leagues, but I go back to the days when we bought our players from Liverpool, stsunten, houghton, saunders, man Utd God not from notts county or wycombe if you get my drift. We need to be looking upwards not down. But I'm also of the opinion that with deano in charge we won't attract those players. Love him and thank him for getting us where we are but I'd like to see us go out and get Poch and let him bring in the players that he could attract. Just let's be more positive a a club.

I really like Poch I think he is a fantastic manager but are we really saying Deano in the time you have been with us less than 2 years let’s not forget, thanks for getting us promoted in your first season when let’s be honest most of us thought that was unlikely to happen, thanks for getting us to a cup final where we lost to one of the best sides in Europe but we were competitive, and thanks for keeping us in the premier league when it looks like he had his hands tied when it came to transfers and your thanks is your P45? the guy should be given the freedom of the city not sacked. If we did that to him then no manager with any class should touch us with a 10 foot pole and rightly so . Thankfully the noises coming out of Villa Park suggests we are not going to do anything so crass.

John, there are lots of managers who have done much more for their club and been sacked, mourinho ancelotti, pearson at leicester, clough, etc etc but it hasn't stopped them being a successful club. It's about ambition and ambitious clubs make ambitious decisions.

The Mourinho’s and Ancellotis of this world were already at well established Premiership clubs who were expecting to be challenging for trophies every season with established infrastructures we are not at that level at the moment. I cannot think of a club who changes managers every season being successful we only have to look at Watford to see what happens if you are not careful. Ambition is one thing foolhardiness another.

As I said in my previous post I really rate Poch but seriously given his ambition to manage one of the Spanish giants and the time it has taken him to establish his reputation why on earth would you risk that to manage Villa. It takes an age to build a reputation and 5 minutes to lose it. When the time comes to replace the manager which isn’t now I think rather than shopping at Harrods we might need to lower our sights a little maybe Waitrose.

John remember poch made his name at Southampton and potentially we are much bigger than them. Potentially bigger than spurs if we choose to get someone of his calibre.

I remember it well SV but he took that job when he was making his name in management not an established name as he is now, so in effect he had very little to lose if he takes on the Villa and it goes wrong he has everything to lose.
