How much is Davis worth?
Rumours are if we seal Watkins deal, Preston will be in for Davis, we can not continue to let our players go cheap.
My valuation would have to be £6m + add-ons.
Have Preston got that much Hmmm.

Is his contract not up next year, a loan deal seems a waste unless we tie him down before loaning him out, no point sending him on loan probably paying some of his wages then lose him for free.

The suggestion seems to be that Davis will be loaned out if we secure two new strikers. Although I am unsure of Wesley’s return date, with Watkins, King and Samatta on the books, it is difficult to see where Davis fits in.

I believe Preston are unlikely to be able to afford an outright purchase of David. Whether some form of severance is preferable to the option to potentially recall him in an emergency, whilst also easing the wage roll of his salary in the interim is something I can’t answer. Perhaps an option to buy in January at a reduced figure might be seen as an amicable arrangement.

As I said my sources advised personal terms had been agreed it was the negotiations over the transfer fee that was the issue and these negotiations are still on going.

Championship loan for Davis I’d say. 6 months, or a year with a recall. And a new contract if he performs. He’s got a lot of great attributes (not finishing) and been held up by injuries. Think he’d be a good player, and a solid back-up option if he can get a proper run of games.
