The only thing that’s bothering me about Martinez is that he’s been on Arsenal’s books since 2011 and in that time he’s featured in just 15 games for them.
For the rest of the time he’s been loaned out to several different clubs including just up the road at Wolves in 2016.
There’s no question he was outstanding for Arsenal in those 9 matches after the lockdown and maybe I should be thinking, it’s now that matters. It’s just that during those 8/ 9 years of being mainly out on loan, if he is that good wouldn’t he have been snapped up before now?

I think that’s a fair challenge Mark. and I’ve seen comments that he was worth maybe £2m back in March, before Leon’s injury. Have a look at his profile on TransferMarkt, it’s eye-opening.

That said. football is funny, and he hadn’t had chance to prove himself necessarily before. The reaction of Arsenal fans to him being sold is what swings it for me. they are devastated, and feel he’s their best ‘keeper. But Leno is the one on the big contract, they need money in for transfers and couldn’t afford to give Emi a big deal as well. Think he’ll prove a good signing. Villa Twitter is going nuts over him 🤣.

Newsnow are saying that Brighton are going to match the wages and price for Martinez, if he decides to go there, Ryan their keeper now would be a good No2 to Heaton, though I’d be happy with Steer/ Nyland for 3-4 games till Heaton’s fit and spend £20M elsewhere 🤷🏼‍♂️
