One of the reasons we're easy to play against is that we play the same every week and teams know now too have 2 defenders on him, trez, elgahzi, elmo, Davis, all need to be sold, barkley so lazy and is overrated, we so need another striker, winger, and that's without squad players that need replacing, we were always going to have a blip every team has, I do worry for Smith if this continues because old habits are creeping in our game again, Smith is a decent manager, but if we are to push for top 8 and top 6 in nxt 3/ 4 yrs is he the right man too take us there, I'm not calling for him to go but he doesn't have a plan a, b, c, and never uses his subs properly, and isn't ruthless he comes across to Nice, look at westham in the same position as us last season but this season like us improved but they have a manager who knows how too mix it up moyes is a very good manager, and has made great signings soucek, coufal, signings of the season in my view, where ever we finish we have made improvements and need to go again and improve more in summer 6/ 7 players need to come in squad, 6 out as well.

4eva I agree with you completely re who we need to ship out and you can add Hourihane, Taylor and Engels to that list. With regards Deano this is only his second season at this level and it’s a steep learning curve, if someone had said at the end of last season we would be where we are now with only just over half the season gone we would have snapped there hands off. and to my mind that earns Deano some time however I do think he has to adapt to the requirements of the league so as a number of posters have already pointed out we need to have a plan b which we don’t seem to have at the moment we continue to play out from the back when teams employ a high press against us, if you look at City on occasions they can mix it up and play long ball as evidenced by Ederson’s assist the other day so for me it shouldn’t be a one size fits all. He definitely needs to make better use of the bench and be more ruthless when it comes to selection and I would like to see a couple of the kids at least make the bench and it was good to see that yesterday. I think we are ahead of where we thought we would be when our owners took over but again our summer recruitment is going to be vital in terms of the clubs progression if this time next year we are making no progress then I think it’s fair enough to start to ask questions about the manager but not before.

Well said there. If and only if the team struggle next year after continued investment is it really fair to ask any 'big questions' of Smith. Until then he's certainly earned the right to be given time to develop the squad. Most people would admit we're probably a season ahead of where we were aiming with winning the playoffs when Smith took over, so we've had to progress even quicker which in itself is tough going. With such a positive start and being comfortable in the league I can understand the frustration some show about wanting squad players out, wanting more consistency and the fan mentality of always wanting more, but as a fan base I'd hope most would be able to look at the big picture, recognise the huge strides we're making as a club, get behind the manager and players and enjoy it. Just think where we were 3 years ago!
