I think most on here will know that I have supported and backed our Manager and team completely from day one.
That is why I find it hard to say what I am thinking and now saying.
We have a new Manager, his staff, we have new owners, new admin, in fact most things are new in and around Villa Park these days which I have to say in someways is great.
But there is one underlying thing that I cannot understand in all of this, and that is the sheer naivety of all the people concerned, nobody has learned a thing from past events.
It seems no matter who we have running the affairs of our club, we seem destined for mediocrity or failure.
We persist in doing things literally by halves.
This has gone on at Villa park for as long as I can remember.
Most of the successes we have had falter and then stop, instead of pushing on and striving for more success, it all comes to an abrupt and sudden end.
Fear of investment, and the lack of continuity with the fans, plus wasted money within the future of our club (academies) are some of the main contributing factors.
I urge all at Villa Park to listen to the people who pay your wages, and to the people who love the club, the fans.
If we want or need a player go and get him, don`t get an alternative because he is slightly cheaper.
"The time has come to sink or swim".

Villadave-i reckon there are many on here who would echo what you have said fella, but like some on here might say, including me, is that there are 2 many chiefs, not enough Indians, the structure in place is top heavy, and by the time a decision is made, the impetus is lost, I think we need to shed some of middlemen and go back to basics, I've always wondered how the likes of Bristol city etc can keep unearthing talent and get them to the club and yet with all our resources we can't seem to compete, and that's been for years and years, maybe it will change, anyway must dash, a cows' on the telly apparently just in the process of jumping over what appears to be the moon-well I never!

Admirable words Dave, however using your water analogy who's going to come to a sinking ship, that's the problem facing all those you refer to at "Villa Park".

I think villa should get every striker they can amd flood the bench . I bet dean smith looks at villas bench like micheal jordan in space jam. I hope we don't no to brighton without new signing . Every team coming up against us have no fear . Need new striker to give them food for thought .

Spot on Dave what I don't get is why we need a sports director to get our players? What ever happened to the good old days where the manager identified the players he wanted then the chairman would say yes or no for me it's just a fashion statement to have a sporting director hate it hate it hate it. Can anyone tell me who is actually running our club?

Good points you all made, I to can't stand the director of football or sporting director, it doesn't work for me, surely deano has too pick the players he wants to sign because if not his hands are tied behind his back.

Can’t disagree with any of that. But. give Deano Pep money and we wouldn’t have to buy ‘cheaper alternatives’ and though they are not the biggest flops that we’ve bought, Marvellous and Luiz for £25M when it seemed that it was the Leeds lad that we wanted (my preference woulda been Isaac Hayden) for the same amount of money, proves your point. My solution for Pep money is to sell the stadium naming rights for mega money, just like I’m sure Citeh have done with their stadium, which is sponsored by the owners cousin or something? Bit underhanded but I’d say VP could be sponsored for £1 or £1B by anyone other than the owners, it’s up to them what it is worth, problem solved. Villa Park will always be Villa Park, if it’s called the Adidas Arena I couldn’t care less because it’s still Villa Park

UTV.

I don’t think we need a new manager right now.
And even if we got rid of Smith I don’t think Big Sam or Pullis inspire me enough to want to ever watch Villa play again. I’d rather go watch them ZuluSh*t bluenoses.

Make the right signings this Jan and Smith will keep us up.
Whether or not Smith is the right man in the long term I do have my doubts. But I think he’s the best man for the job right now.
