Setting myself up for pelters here. if you remember (I'm sure Chris does 😉) I said Jack got a bit of George Best about him a few years back and got stick for it? I think he's going for being our 'greatest player of all time' and tbh, in my lifetime or from when I 1st went down VP, can only say he will be if he sees that contract through. Tell me honestly a more talented player than Jack that you've seen in a Villa shirt? I don't mean legends like Macca, Little, Gray, Mellberg, Laursen, and players that stuck around for only a few years, I mean 1 of our own that's as good as what Jack should become, he's nowhere near his peak yet either 🤷🏼‍♂️

Ally you are bang on with what you say about George Best, I showed my younger brother a clip of George Best, it's the way he ghosts pat players. Still got a wày to go though to be in his company. But can see the similarity.

Ally, its a very interesting point you make, and will be asked again.
You have took away all the players that compare in some way.
And yes he probably is the best player to wear a Villa shirt, but most clubs have one or maybe two at some point.
But one thing is for sure Ally, IMO he ain`t no George Best.

Ally I have to say I detest Utd (or as I tend to refer to the in polite company “the filth”) with a passion but without a doubt the best player I have seen either live or on TV is George Best and I include Messi Maradona Ronaldo the lot in that assessment it’s not only the way he glided past players, the goals he scored but it’s the type of pitches he had to play on, and the physical challenges which in some cases bordered on GBH that he had to deal with none of this rolling around like he had been shot when he was barely touched he was total class. Jack is a very good player and one of our best but he ain’t no George Best.

I started going the Villa the season that we sold Andy Gray around 78/ 79, Little woulda been our main man then, I’m a bit vague who else was around, I was 7ish lol. A lot of players have came and went in that time, I had my heroes, Jimmy Rimmer was my 1st 1 as I was a keeper too, lots of flashes of players being awesome but not over a sustained period of time, players like Steve Hunt, Gary Thompson, Platty, Angel, and the guys I mentioned before, I’d even go as far as to say some off those players were ‘cult’ heroes, but I can’t think of anyone with the talent of Jack Grealish coming through and staying put, he’s living our dream, today is an effin’ great day in the history of Aston Villa, can’t wait to see how far we can go this year with a few more dditions, C’MON!

I've never understood claims of who is better across different generations. Let them be the best of their vintage.
Jack wouldn't win half as many free kicks and would be injured most of the time back then.
On the other hand George Best couldn't run rings around a corner flag in the modern game.
If someone wants to call Jack the modern day version of Best then why not?
