Further to what I said about getting 2 senior defenders in who may not have pace and it not making sense against teams who play with pace, John Terry never had any pace but he Marshalled their defence like a quarterback and I'm pretty sure they did quite well with that set up as I remember! - what I mean is the younger ones do the chasing, and one is the general, ready 2 mop up after, but it's just a thought.

Can’t argue with that 82, what people forget is it seems that most teams play with 1 striker now, 2 centre halves vs 1 striker, 1 with pace, 1 with positional sense is more than enough

UTV.

Allyp1972-yep, your on the money there, that's what worries me about deans, I guarantee you jt will have been bending his ear about this but deano seems blinkered, so the question again arises, what system is his favourite, because he seems caught in 2 minds, hopefully shakey will intervene and coble something that works, I'm off for a bottle or 2 of barley wine, have an easy one Ally, and hopefully a player or 2 might sign up, you never know! watch out for them shandys' mate, 2 of them and I'm frank sinatra on helium all over again, and the Mrs is so proud of me when out in public! UTV!

This is a recurring point, a leader/ reader at the back.
The pitch leader. A second McGrath.
Mings and Konsa work well but we are still vulnerable to the through ball as we don't have the third man.

It almost seems that we seldom play the quick ball from the back line and don't defend the quick ball over the defence from the opposition.

This position is our weak spot for the last few seasons.
There was talk about some guy named Chancellor? that seemed to fit the bill. Perhaps this might still be on the books.
