And for those constantly questioning. that's why Nakamba doesn't get extended runs in the team😂.

To be fair, since his mistake, he's probably also justified those calling for him to get a run. Funny old game isn't it.

Not for me he hasn’t, on the ball he isn’t anywhere near Luiz. Off it he’s twice the player Luiz is.

Each to their own. I think he's been everywhere along with McGinn and helped us dominate the midfield so far. Done exactly what you'd want from a defensive midfielder. So far at least.

In terms of today’s performance I thought we were first class McGinn was great in midfield, the back four were superb, even Hause, Watkins ran his legs off, El ghazi and Traore were a constant threat and we thoroughly deserved the win. However that said there are areas where we need to improve, Chris I am absolutely with you on Nakamba whilst the does a lot of good work in terms of breaking up play and tracking runners all that good work is undone by his shocking distribution he looks like he doesn’t know what to do when he has the ball he treats it like a hot potato gives it away and we are on the back foot again. The other thing we need to get better at is finishing teams off we should have had one or two more goals and been really safe long before the end (not to mention the penalty that wasn’t given) this game it didn’t cost us but at Palace it did we need to tighten up here in advance of next season but all in all a good performance and good to see Chukwumeka and Philogene-Bidace get a run out at the end.

Thought he had a decent game other than the mistake, he also held the centre of the pitch more or less by himself whilst Mcginn rampaged forward. Thought Traore was a bit predictable and should've released the ball earlier be it a shot or pass. Entertaining game though.

DBS, agree. After the mistake he hardly put a foot wrong. Lot to expect someone to come in after weeks out of the team and hit the ground running. He looked a bit short of the pace of the game but came through in the end.
McGinn outstanding tonight. El Ghazi good too.
Spuds were lucky to get away without a much heavier defeat tonight.
UTV.

He was definitely better second half than first imo, but I suppose that’s when he would make an impression when we aren’t dominating but need someone to break up play.

Still think we need someone that possesses the qualities of both Nakamba and Luiz!

Certainly wouldn't disagree there Chris, if we really want to kick on it'd be great to have a really top player that can do both. I was just commenting on his performance today, which I thought was actually very good (one mistake aside) so thought he deserved a positive shout out. Nakamba, Luiz and a lot of our squad have proven in patches they can perform at this level, the next developmental stage is to do it consistently. maybe they will. maybe bringing in too many signings will stiffle their development. but personally I'd agree that we should be aiming for at least one wolrd class centre mid (easier said than done) to kick us on. although the two young lads certainly didn't look phased when they came on either!

Nakamba was excellent last night, but we need to buy better if we’re going to progress. What I did think last night, is that both Marvelous and Kortney Hause have stepped in when needed and they don’t let us down at all. They have great attitudes and are ideal squad players if we can upgrade the starting quality.

I’m still convinced there’s a top quality player in Dougie. he’s just not a 6. He lacks the discipline and physicality for that role, and it lessens his effectiveness (his forward passing and ability on the ball is top class) . I think with Dougie and Sanson, we have two good options to play with McGinn. if they have a 6 behind them in a 4-3-3. Otherwise, one of the three with a DM and Jack or a. n. other at 10.

Last night’s performance had so many positives though. Running the midfield against what on paper was a tough pairing of Hojberg and Winks, defensive solidity and clarity that Elmo really has run his course (Konsa so adept at RB, and reopens the debate about possibly signing the similar Tuanzebe, to orobvide CB and RB cover) .
