The prodigal son returns, welcome back Ash . Watching his interview, he is genuinely really excited, to be coming back . We know his age, but he has so much to offer and he's as fit as a butchers dog .

If this is the route we’re going, I think it’s too late now because he’s signed a contract extension, but wouldn’t Defoe of made a great impact sub? Are there any similar in the twilight of their career strikers such as him available? Don’t know what his contract situation is but I’m going to throw a name out that I’m going to get pelters for, Andy Carroll? If we’re 1-0 down with 10 mins to go, handy bloke to have on the pitch if we’re going to be lumping balls into the box, not saying we should go for him but I’m just thinking of players with Prem experience, someone like him on a free would be better value than Wood at £25M+, Moneyball anyone?

I don`t think that is the way we are going Ally.
I think he was available and the fit was perfect, and by getting a player with his experience and knowledge of the club, it is a no brainer.
The help he will give people all over the pitch will be invaluable.
Ashley has been brought in to steady the ship, and I see us really pushing on now with a couple more additions.
I just hope we keep our Jack.

This is a great signing, he featured in 40 (ish) games for Conte's Inter this season, you don't get that much game time for Conte if you aren't fit as a butchers dog! I've a feeling Young will feature quite a bit this season, his experience could be pivotal to a European push.

Young is a workhorse on and off the pitch, in exactly the same way Jack is.
There is a lot of respect with in villa for him.
Wouldn't be surprised if we see a coaching role for him after the yet is up.
