So, all of the excuses, those trying to put a positive spin on a woeful performance, we got exactly what we deserved. A team set up at home with exactly no attacking threat. A lone striker and five at the back. This set up is because we have been poor at home since Sheffield. We are (were fighting for fourth position) . The season could end up flat, far far too many defensive mistakes that change the outcome of games. Of course it's been a good season, unfortunately the results of late are mid table mediocrity and the players that most of us know simply aren't good enough and aren't stepping up. Cash, Diaby, Tielemans, zaniola are simply not good enough. The next three games against West Ham, Wolves and Man City will make or break what was looking like a stellar season, However results against, Newcastle, Sheffield Home), Chelsea, Spurs, Man Utd (twice) second half against Luton have suggested to many that maybe we are in a false position.I just hope we only let Spurs finish above us. If Man U catch us to take a champions league position it will turn out to be an extremely disappointing season. Of course my comments are controversial however, if my doom and gloom comments become a realty I certainly won't be on my own in the disappointment and criticism.

Were not good enough it clear too see and if we did get champs league we get batterd, we haven't got the squad yet il take 5/6 and conference league win would be great season, only thing that worries me is that 2/3 of our stars might have to be sold dougie, bouba, watkins because of ffp
Wot ever happens its been a good season aslong as we stay in top7

Scot have you not called for a change of tactics? You can’t have it both ways, we need to stick with what got us where we are, I think you expect us to be like city Liverpool arsenal, they are full of world class stars with years of champions league experience playing against the very best every year, I don’t know 1 fan who wouldn’t of being ecstatic if you told them at the start of the season that we would be 4th with 10 games left, you talk about false position but we are where we are because of the results we earned, they weren’t given to us, even city haven’t being world beaters for a full season most years.
people look for positives because we want to enjoy 1 of the best if not the best season we have had since the premier league started, most of us are not delusional we know we need more world class players in the team but ffp prevents us from going out there and just buying them we have to build the team, Emery has had just over a year and worked wonders, we as fans and true supporters have to have patience and belief, we will have bad days in the process but they will make the good ones even better, there are loads of what if’s but there are as many good outcomes as bad ones, I choose to believe that come may the outcome that we end up with will be a positive one.

whack positivity is great and commendable and of course there is plenty of positives this season, however recent performances have dampened some of the reasons to be positive. I can't accept that we should be happy with the season because we did well up to Christmas.Recent performances have been very average at times and I can't see how the issues have been addressed, the worry for me is they continue and if we fail to get the league position that looked nailed on. Of course we all want to finish fourth however that looks increasingly unlikely, anything other than fifth will definitely be a disappointment in many fans and pundits eyes.

We haven't been right since the double header against city and gooners that teams long gone now
Im still puzzled to why unai changed formation and setup like that we should of gone for it from the go unai has to take all the blame for that it was on him .with city, gooners n lpool left too play in the top4 they are going to have a field day with us we are letting in too many goals, only thing that gives us a little chance is that spurs play in april, gooners, lpool, city, ncastle,
Chelsea we have to be there if they slip up, if spurs win all them games they deserve top4

Scot, ask yourself this, if you had been offered 4th in the premiership with 10 games to go, or even finish the season ahead of the likes of Utd, Chelsea would you have taken it? I know I would, and if your honest with yourself so would you.

Like you say plenty of positives this season, despite the significant injuries to some of our best players. I might remind you that although you say we did well up till Christmas you have being complaining since September?‍♂️
We’ve being so bad since Christmas (3 months) that we are still in Europe and still in 4th place.
You want issues addressed but our issues are mainly due to injuries imo, kamara got suspended at Christmas, he’s now out for the season, digne and Torres got injured at Christmas, Carlos has also being out for a month, so we have had to chop and change our defence multiple times over the last 3 months, Ramsey has being in and out all season with injuries, Duran was on the bench yesterday for the first time in months, we can’t buy players that are better than what we have because of FFP. we are not city we can’t soak up all these injuries with no effect on performances. realism is what we need and enjoy the season we are having

LOTM, I'll be the judge what I would or would be happy with and with ten games to go and have no idea where we will finish, so how on earth can I be happy now, I'll be happy after 38 games if we are in the top five.

Whack unfortunately I will never enjoy watching my team lose to spurs in such a poor way, I will never enjoy losing to a very poor Man United side twice.I will never enjoy watching a second half against Luton after dominating the first half. We can only be judged after 38 games a lot can happen in the final 10 games, so let's all hope it's positive otherwise it could end up being not what we were expecting.

Scot, I accept you are the judge of what is acceptable fair enough but I think you get off on focusing on the bad rather than the good. If we had Jesus Christ up front you’d be moaning that he didn’t bring the Father and Holy Ghost to play up alongside him!

LOTM I focus on reality, tell me I'm wrong if our defence are performing below standard and concededing too many poor goals.tell me if our standards have dropped from earlier in the season and at times warrant criticism. Of course we have had injuries and so have many others If your happy that's fine by me , I'm not and at times I think justifiably.

So to answer your questions, is our defence under performing yes I agree but it can in some way be explained by the fact we haven’t had a settled back four for several weeks due to injury. It’s too simplistic to say our standards have dropped I think it’s more that teams have seen how we play and have developed a system designed to negate us. All of that said we have still had a marvellous season to date, it is unrealistic to expect us to go toe to toe with the likes of Liverpool, City and Arsenal we don’t have the squad or the funds.

The issue scotty, is that you'll never be happy as long as there is a level of perfection we haven't reached yet.
We could win 37 league games in a season and you'd probably keep bringing up the 1 we lost.
We had 6 months of massively overacheiving to make the ECL. We've improved the squad to one that should be challenging top 6 and that's where we are.
It would be sad to miss out on Champions League having been up there for so long but it was inevitable that we'd have an iffy patch if we picked up injuries.
We've had a couple of results that look like hammerings this season, but quite a few of those goals came past the 85th minute when we really tried chasing a result.
Overall, if this is a bad run then I'll happily take it because we're still winning more often than not.
