According to Sky Sports' Sam Blitz he'd choose Toney because Watkins has 'had enough chances and done nothing'.
Ollie has 11 caps, most of those for 5 or 10 minutes when the rest of the team are done for the night. He has 4 starts, at least 2 of those were with 2nd and 3rd string players, and scored 3 goals.
Remember when Sky Sports hired people who actually had a clue?

I agree, someone on TalkSPORT also said you should take Toney because if Kane isn’t fit you want someone who is more like Kane in the way he plays. So on the one hand I understand the point of view, but I would argue Kane is a one off, a once in a generation type of striker neither Toney or Ollie for that matter can match him but Toney is no nearer a Kane type centre forward than Ollie. You should go with the man in form and that’s Watkins but as we know with Southgate form counts for nothing.

The only argument I accept is that Toney would be more reliable on penalties but we lost the last Euros through that exact same thinking.
Both players brought on late just to take penalties missed.

RK, unfortunately it makes the decision easy for Boregate with the penalty issue, cynically Tony getting to score a penalty may well have Toney on the plane rather than Ollie, unfair, probably unfortunately the press are all in the Toney camp.Lets just hope Ollie carries on scoring until the end of the season and makes it difficult to leave him behind. The Euros are likely to be Boregates final games as England manager so he will be totally deaf to any criticism regarding team selection and style of play. good riddance.

Personally I hope he picks Toney and Ollie can have a good rest without the chance of getting injured for next season.

I'd just worry about what that could do to his confidence, being on a level with Haaland and Salah just to lose out to someone who will have barely played half a season and isn't in any sort of form.
