I don't why we are all moaning about cole he hasn't kicked a ball for use yet, he has more experience than our hole midfield put together personally I think the deals that we have done are pretty good, this is the way it's going to be for use this window so I think we should start getting behind the players and manger, god knows Lamberts hands are tied still I haven't heard him moan once,

Here here too! None of us like where were currently are, but people need to wake up and smell the coffee. I can't understand people wanting to knock something before they have even started with us. We need to get behind the team, the players and yes, Paul Lambert too! This is not entirely his fault that we are where we are.

Perhaps the people on here who are moaning about the signing of Joe Cole could remember the last ex Manchester United player we signed who was said to be injury prone and over the hill, a certain Paul McGrath who turned out to be possibly the best player ever to play for Villa. Give Cole a chance for goodness sake. In our financial situation just who do people think we are going to be able to sign? Lambert is doing his best in the circumstances so give him a break.

Hi JK you are at it again! Many supporters are now aware that PL has been working to order for two years and is still hung by the testicals by an owner who doesn't want our club. We should to some extent be applauding his willingness to stick to the plans layed out by Scrooge and he continues to work hard at his job. Yes he is paid well but he honours the contract he signed, unlike many other people. Scrooge must go back to the states and let us have our AVFC. Ack.

Why do I feel this coming year will reunite us fans with the team and the manager, the players will have to preform due to more numbers as before they had to stay in the side regardless of how badly they played a few more in like barry and lescott could get us moving in the right direction

We British are renowned for our ability to stand together in adversity. Indeed the term "Bulldog Spirit" was coined during world war I as a way of describing how we naturally rally in the face of suffering and tribulation. This season we need to exploit our own natural talent as the twelfth, thirteenth and twentieth man to stand as one and support our manager and the choices he's made. Mr Lambert is not a bad manager but he is a Villan. our Villan. He talks with the passion of a man who's been in post twenty years not the mere two he has. He always remembers the fans and the role we play. We wanted him, we've got him and if anyone remembers Lambert the player, you have to accept the man is a fighter and knows how to overcome the odds!
Rise as one, stand as one and if we fall then we fall as one, either way we only defeat ourselves by criticising our own. I for one welcome our new players and thank Jordan Bowery for at least giving it a go when he was clearly out of his depth. That alone shows a bravery we should encourage at Villa not admonish.
Both of our signings have played at the very top of our league and others yet still they respect this great club of ours. We should show the same unity and forget last year. We cannot be relegated because of last years results. On opening weekend we start second and with the same points as everyone else.
Bring on next season and bring on a new hope and renewed passion for we are all Villa 'til we die!

Oldvillan Agree with villadave hate the word scrooge, RL he as been good to villa now he wants to sell, what you are saying PL has been working to RL orders shows how weak he is WHY take the job glad to see one of his buy has gone I hope with a few others of his buys, and I don't think most fans want him to stay but hey you like his style up to you.

Our job as supporters is to support the team wholeheartedly on matchday.
It is not, however, incumbent upon us to be brainless cheerleaders who support every decision, however poor it is, as if not to do so would somehow signify a lack of loyalty
Cole: bad signing. Senderos: awful, awful signing
Matchday? Will sing their names from the rafters as if they were long lost brothers.
We pay a lot to watch the games and we have the right to be critical. It doesn't make you less of a fan

Come on Mendax.

How can you say that Cole and Senderos are awful signings, they ain't kicked a ball yet.

I admit they are not so called high profile but they will without doubt help stabilize us on and off the pitch.

And about the critical side of your post, I think we need to be a bit more positive about things now that we are trying to add the experience we have all been harping on about, it is what it is after all.

Sorry mate, I think some of the guys have made valid statements.

Cole was a great player, 7 or 8 years ago. Now his legs have gone
I did say that I will get behind the players on matchday, as always.
What I won't do is lie to myself or to any of you guys on here about how I feel.
I really, really want to be positive about these 2 mate, I really do. But if I don't think it, I won't state it

I never asked for experience JUST class player these two are well past it Cole was good six years ago my mate a season ticket at arsenal can not stop laughing he says senderos is terrible, we are the laughing stock of the prem REALISTIC

I will give up Scrooge if you give up knocking PL for sticking to the direction he was given. He was told the parameters of the job and he has completed the task. If the idealist attitude of the owner has failed because of a lack of transfer funds over the last two years don't blame PL. I have stated before that I don't know if PL can cut it given the funds but he has done what he has been instructed. I do know that Lerner has lost interest in AVFC and that means he is no good to us the supporters. I am bitter towards Lerner, even deadly Doug was better. No more Scrooge, no more knocking Lambert. Fair deal?

Hi Mendax.

We all thought Paul Mcgrath`s legs had gone but what a servant he was for us agreed!

Joe Cole if played in a central midfield position where legs don't matter but vision does will make things happen.

Senderos has kicked plenty of balls for other sides, but again not for us.

If you decide to watch Switzerland at any time during the world cup, take moment to watch his positional sense etc he reads the game very well, not a Paul Mcgrath granted but better than Baker & Clarke.

I was the one with the original post, see what I mean if 10 or 12 of use can't pull together how hard is it for the players on match day when there is 40000 people shouting and moaning let's start getting behind our players and staff and start backing them up a bit

Seriously though, with regard to Senderos not having kicked a ball for us. The recent history of our club is not littered with players who were awful for other clubs and then improved hugely at Villa. It's been largely the other way around (we can all name our own list of examples)
I respect your "glass 1/2 full attitude" Dave but I just don't share it. Sorry mate
