Surely John Gregory, Brian Little or Ian Taylor would have been a better choice of a number2 to Garde thoughts?

Gregory and Little both would I think would be by now in their careers wanting a number 1 job or director of football type role be it in a lower league club to be realistic about PL opportunities, Taylor isn't a bad shout, lacks coaching experience but is villa through and through.

The best choice of Assistant is somebody that Garde actually wants and Black is this. Also, Little has just taken a job managing Jersey so would have time constraints. Adding someone like that to the Board though would go down well.

{Ed007's Note - Eric Black played for Metz for a while back in the 80's so perhaps him and Garde's paths have crossed before and they've known each other for years.}
