Now the dust has settled and we are all no longer feeling deflated, let's discuss last night with a clear head. In my opinion it was a carbon copy of every other game this season, didn't take anywhere near enough of them and then crumbled in the final minutes. Now my first point:

Gollini is still a huge Question mark, he made good saves against Newcastle but last night he made a huge mistake for their goal, and working it out I'm sure he's now cost us 7 points and made 4 mistakes, is it now time to take action? Subs bench and give Steer a chance?

Point 2:

The defence on the whole is solid, other than Bristol we haven't been shakey as a defence until after the 80th minute, the only common theme is that when we are sitting back, all players clinging on edge of the box for dear life we can't not concede. That tells me we can't defend as a team, when we all go back it's over crowded, unorganised and clumsy so we end up giving space/ making mistakes. So we have two options A train hard on how to defend as a team and keep a shape and understand responsibilities when we're penned in every man behind the ball or B don't get penned in, keep our shape and look to break.

And finally point 3:

We need to pick our front 3 and stick to it, to me it would be kodja McCormack and ayew, the first two seem to already have a decent understanding and I don't think you can take ayew out the team at the moment!

We have to look for the positives and ignore the noses, we're 5 games unbeaten and look a good attacking team for 80 minutes in a game. Now let's get the last 10 right and climb up that table! UTV!

Think Steer deserves a shot, Bunn is a bit of a nightmare and Steer hasn't been given the opportunity to show his worth! (Sorry about the long post just wanted to be constructive for once)

chris, i fully agree with you mate. its worring times again if we can't win a football mate we could go down i dnt fink we will but at the momment we can't winc4 toffee we was awful at barnsley 1st half was crap an 2nd was only just better i don't think they can develop a good understanding if the manager keeps changing formation every week.

also his slow making decisions everybody could see at grelish was having a nightmare in yet some how he kept him on to be honest if we don't beat preston he should be sacked!

Totally agree Chris - For me the front 3 picks itself - Are we trying too hard to accommodate Grealish I wonder? And does this impact our midfield which was overran again last night?

I wouldn't be so quick to drop Gollini however - I think he is very raw but there is a good goalkeeper in there, I'm sure of it - I recall United fans being very concerned about DeGea initially - I think he will come good but I understand your point, do we have the luxury of waiting - Perhaps not.

I think we have been extremely unlucky at times this year - We should really have 4-6 more points on the board. A win is coming and that could be the turning point - Wishful thinking :-)?

Some good points Chris we all seem to agree with you on them.
However, for me you missed out the one overriding reason why we are not either killing teams off OR defending right to the bitter end. The midfield.

Cheers lads and I was going to include a point about the midfield but the post was getting very long. I think our problem with the midfield is Tshibola is our only decent midfielder at the moment on current form. Jedinak hasn't really started the way we would have expected, Westwood still isn't good enough at this level and Gardner seems to try too hard to impress. And the fact I've only spoke about midfielders is worrying because that's all we have, would love us to sign someone like Tom Huddlestone, can getup and down the pitch for ninety minutes and has the experience.
