Bearing in mind the players we've sold and loaned out, the money on salaries we've saved would have put a big dent in the £150000 a week ighalo would receive, and yes an extra 3 million as well, but wakey wakey, we're in a dogfight with clubs who have recognised, free scoring strikers, sammatta will come good, but it will take him a few games, ighalo knows the league and loves scoring goals, it's what we all wished we were going to buy at the beginning of January, but with the best will in the world, we've got a striker who hasn't done that much in a couple of years, I hope he explodes into a goal scoring machine for us, but remember he's only as good as what service he gets into him, he's that type of striker, if you see some of ighalo playing in whichever league, he can also do a touch of the George weahs' and make something from nothing regularly, as for those who rightly say that ighalo would cost us a fortune on loan, take the worst case scenario, £1.2 million a month for 6 months =£7.2 million plus 3 million loan fee of 3 million is a grand sum of £10.2 million-big big money, however, if his goals helped keep us up then that's a lot cheaper than the £100 million plus we'd lose not being in the premiership, and remember as well, players would leave because they'd not want to play in the championship, more upheaval and uncertainty, and don't forget the efl still have a bone to pick with us about ffp remember?, and remember also Smith was looking at players this January who were around the £20 million mark with no premier league experience who would need time to adjust; here's a prime example, let's take drinkwater, he's a midfielder who's game is not box to box running but he's been at Burnley and he should have been virtually ready to go, he looks out of his depth already, how many games will it take him to pull his finger out?, the strikers Smith wanted would have taken at least 3-4 games to adjust at best, if they were hungry enough, you look at the level ighalo plays at, you can see that he keeps himself fit and healthy, and enjoys playing rather than taking the money and being half-baked about it (did someone say drinkwater? ), so all in all I have to say that we should have made a bold statement and brought in ighalo, it would have given the fans, club and players a lift, would have sent a message to the opposition we're up for the dogfight and we're going for it all guns blazing, instead we've got a deflated, have to make do feeling left, not exactly buzzing, so yeas;instead hope Baston has a screamer, but for me, deano had an opportunity to right some of the wrongs from the summer, but he's fallen short again, a manager like warlock, red knap or big Sam would have pulled 1 or 2 out of the bag, deano hasn't;that's the difference I'm afraid, lack of understanding the league we're in, and not wise enough to be willing to change his stance on what is available for selection, for me, I want what's best for this club long term, unfortunately he's not, even if we stay up, he has to go, we no mission statement and no direction, we're too easy to play against and would want to come here if your an established attacking player? -the evidence is no., and when you do get the chance, you don't take it? -says it all really.

Ighalo would have gone to united whatever we did. We got 4 in for small outlay and minimising the additional trouble with FFP, which will prob still bite us. Still gutted about Bowen but I think we've done ok.
I think Samatta will do well, has a good attitude by all accounts, and even if Baston is a bust, big Wes might pick up a few things from him.
