Hello all, long time reader and last posted a few years ago. Have dusted off the keyboard to make a couple of points.

I can see both sides of the argument regarding Deano however it is a shame when the effort we all saw earlier in the season from players is now lacking to say the least.

My first point is listening to anything that big Sam says. The bloke is a crook and blew his chance with England because he got greedy or his agent did. It's easy to say get 3 or 4 players instead of 10 for £130 million. We would have had a squad of about 15 players. To get the numbers we needed using that logic we would have had to spend £300 million plus. Our owner's might have that kind of change, but we would fall foul of FFP.

Some might say we could have kept some of those released players but I think we might find ourselves in a similar situation if we had, then clubs start circling after our top quality 3/ 4 additions.

Second point is how does Wes get the pasting he does from pundits figuratively queueing up to blast him, yet Joelinton cost twice the price and has scored half the goals. I'm not excusing Wes but I think had there not been quite the vitriol towards him from media perhaps his confidence would be so shot. It's all supposition from me, I am no expert I just love the villa and want us to do our best.

Calls for Moyes remind me of calls for Bruce, and a few of those turned very quickly against him. Maybe Moyes is the answer but I am sure his style of football would have doubters calling for him to move on sooner rather than later.

Again this is just my opinion and not aimed at anyone but me shouting into the wind. I like this team I think it still has the ability to stay up, I just hope everyone has had one eye on the Xmas sales and once that's out the way we'll start picking up some points. I don't want to see Deano go but understand many have got to the end of their patience and will not agree. We will all never agree on everything except our love for the Villa.

Apologies for the essay. Hope all have a great New Year.

Hi ruprektvilla, Welcome back.
You have raised a couple of good points, and I do agree in principle on a couple of them.
However I have to disagree on Wesley, I do not queue up to slate him I genuinely feel he is a very poor center forward.
I said a few days ago I think he is one of the problems we have in the side as the ball keeps coming back off him.
In the last 10 games, how many times has he won a header in the box, how many times has he forced a save from the keeper, and for that matter how many times has he hit the target.
My Grandson would have put that header in today, and he is going on 11 years old.

Thanks Villadave. My apologies with regards to the queue I meant purely the media, pundits etc. In the build up to most games on TV or radio his price has been the talking point, whereas I think other new strikers haven't suffered quite the same level of scrutiny that he has, but then I am hardly impartial. As I said we will all disagree on something.

His positional awareness is poor but I think could be improved. Difficult to teach though, but not impossible. I think attitude is the problem with Wes too often he gets a monk on but that's the pressure that comes with the job.

No you're right lads, you only need to see Konsa and the teams reaction when we got the winner Vs Watford to know that not one player on that team cares about the club. Like the terrible performance in the Cup on Tuesday.
Unfortunately we don't have the money to go after young English players without making our situation with FFP worse.

Sorry lads I only get to see games on TV so cannot have an opinion as by some accounts by watching the game on TV my opinion has no validity.

Ighalo would have gone to united whatever we did. We got 4 in for small outlay and minimising the additional trouble with FFP, which will prob still bite us. Still gutted about Bowen but I think we've done ok.
I think Samatta will do well, has a good attitude by all accounts, and even if Baston is a bust, big Wes might pick up a few things from him.
