Senderos having a medical tomorrow. Whilst not quite the top notch centre back we hoped for it must be a good thing to get someone in with premier league, European and international experience on a free? A step up from baker and clark also I'd say. Good for the squad surely.

I think someone said to Lambert "there is no way you could have a worse centreback than Baker or Clark"
Unfortunately, Lambert took it as a challenge.
The last time I was this disappointed at a signing was when we signed Heskey
Awful, awful, awful signing!

2.) 04 Jun 2014
Disagree, mendax. Experience has been lacking for a long time now so Senderos as a precautionary pre-takeover signing is nothing turn your nose up at.

3.) 04 Jun 2014
Did you ever see him play for Arsenal?
Plenty of experience, I agree
Unfortunately he never seemed to learn from it
Shocking player.
We deserve better than this

4.) 04 Jun 2014
I agree with Mendax. Senderos is just a liability. He might have experience but it doesn't mean he is going to be good.

5.) 04 Jun 2014
I think its a decent signing considering our needs, mendax. Will bring experience at the back when needed that we've been desperate for for a long time. Won't be on huge wages and no transfer fee, so financially makes sense to take him on. Hopefully he won't settle for being back up and can create competition with vlaar and okore also.

6.) 04 Jun 2014
As above, couldn't agree more under the circumstances.

Mendax - who you expecting through the front doors?

This is it until were sold. I know who i'd rather have and with respect, wouldn't be neither Baker or Clark. Too many goals concerned last season, time we tightened up.

Plus, with Roy Keane who'll be our best midfielder hopefully we can aim for a couple more places higher in the table or maybe even higher if the sale goes through?

7.) 05 Jun 2014
Roy Keane wouldn't play for villa, he's the assistant manager. As for senderos I don't see why people are moaning, he's only 29 so has plenty of years left and has international and high premier league experience. This is exactly what people wanted. All we need now is a solid CM like Scott Parker to partner Delph and Westwood and a natural winger like Ashley young

8.) 05 Jun 2014
There are better players available yet another panic signing eg holt, lescott or hangaland better players. yes bigger salaries but you get what you pay for. pay championship wages that's where we will end up

9.) 05 Jun 2014
We are on a budget so all options are considered but we unfortunatley will go for the cheapest fix eg sylla kea bennett tonev helinus ect ect

10.) 05 Jun 2014
Whilst we all had several issues with the personnel last season (and the one before, and the one before etc etc etc), if I had to pick one element of the team that terrified me, it was the defence. I actually think Senderos will provide that bit of grit and aggression that we instantly loose when (not if) concrete Ron is injured. If we can couple this signing with perhaps Lescott then the back four is probably sorted on a budget. Either way, it has to be better than Clark or Baker who in my opinion, were always seconds from a red card or giving away a penalty! Using the same lagic, I actually think Joey Barton would be another good two year signing. He's a bit like Robbie Savage - You hate him against you but you'd kind of like him playing for you! Turning a frown upside down - at least the "buy young" policy seems to be over. Youthful talent is a luxury we just can't afford right now, so I for one admire PL for admitting his mistake. Can you imagine MON EVER saying he was wrong? I think not.

11.) 05 Jun 2014
My answer to the question " who you expecting through the front doors" is simple :
"Someone better than we already have"
Surely that is the dominant criteria for any signing?
Senderos is a step down from what we have so what is the point?
I admire all of you guys who are putting a positive spin on things and I understand why you want to do it.
But ask yourself, if Senderos had signed for Albion, would you not be taking the mick? Just a little bit?
He's a dreadful signing and no amount of claret and blue tinted spectacles can make him anything other than that

12.) 05 Jun 2014
See what your saying about West brom mendex but at the same time I do think he is a complete step up to Clark or baker and will also give okore more time to become fully fit and not put him under pressure to get back to his best instantly, we have to remember it is going to take him a while to come back from such a bad injury, the same injury that ended gasgoines carear. As everyone has said he is an experienced head on every level of football i. e international, top of premier league, champions league etc. I think if west brom fans give it a thought they wouldn't be taking the mick much more

13.) 05 Jun 2014
As always in such matters, I genuinely hope I am wrong and that you are right mate

14.) 05 Jun 2014
Obviously we know its not the sort of signing we would hope for in an ideal world. he's not world class, far from it. I do also think it shows an important shift in lamberts transfer policy i. e not gambling on a kid untried at this level. So hopefully we can expect more of the same (but with more quality perhaps!) Its important to have depth in the squad and at the very least it gives us that.
Either way, he's a villa player now so we have to at least get behind him and give him a chance to prove himself.

15.) 06 Jun 2014
I think vlaar and okore will be the starters which I feel is solid enough and senderos will be back up if they are injured or cup games ect, all this fuss over him yet he may only get 5 games in the whole season, no one can predict the future so just support the team and hope everything gets sorted down there ASAP

I heard vilaar going after the world cup, Man could be his destination the dutch manager likes him so we may see another centre back come in, also heard carlos cuellar may return,
