I'm feeling mischievous. we want £80M for Jack, Man U don't want to pay that, and maybe point out that he's not a full international etc. do a deal that values him at (insert own price) say £70M, but with add ons like 1st cap payment that pushes the price up to £90M, see if they really want him and see how much Southgate hates us 🤷🏼‍♂️

After his pre rehearsed comments following his initial squad announcement, I think Southgate doesn’t like Grealish, and it’s something to do with Villa. Who holds Southgate leaving against him? He seems to think we hate him, or at least he tries to give off the impression that we dislike him. I think his pissed him leaving never got the outrage he wanted.

He made a big thing about wanting to leave for Champions League football after links with Man Utd which didn't materialise and had to settle with move to Borough and Egg on his face.

Not being personal about Southgate, he got us to a semi final, but with the crop of English players that we have now, wouldn’t we be better off with a real coach, not someone who it landed for him because the FA were too tight to get a real proven manager? I’m talking your Van Gaals, managers like that? I’d even go as far to say that with who’s available to play for England, we got even more chance of winning something than 90’ 96’ and when we had Scholes, Beckham, Lampard, Gerrard, Campbell, Terry, Ferdinand, and Phil Neville 😂

Couldn’t agree more Ally, I’ve said for a long time Southgate has had such an easy ride because of how bad Hodgson was. Any decent manager gets that team to the finals in the last World Cup. We’ve played 5 games under him in which we weren’t favourite to win, we won one of those.

Guys I am not a Southgate fan by any stretch of the imagination but we have had some England managers who were at the time they took the job were described as amongst the best managers in world football notably Sven, and Capello who at the time were supposedly managing a golden generation of English footballing talent. Both these managers with significantly better CV, s than Southgate and they got us nowhere, there is no guarantee that a big name would have been successful at the last World Cup so we need to bear that in mind and although it pains me to say this, give Southgate some credit for achieving what others with the exception of Bobby Robson have not.

Absolutely spot on John, nothing is a guarantee in football.
Unless you concede more goals than your opponent, then you are guaranteed to lose of course.

Look at the run to the semis though John, we faced two good teams in that World Cup, Croatia and Belgium, and they showed us what top coaches can do in big games. Man for man Croatia’s team didn’t come near ours, problem was Southgates arrogance forced him to stick with three at the back, even when we didn’t have the squad to. Forced Kyle Walker to play centre back, even after he’d made mistakes in previous games and wasn’t comfortable there, his mistakes then cost us vs Croatia. Having a right footed play left wing back was absolutely baffling, he had how many games before that semi final to see that left hand side wasn’t working, but couldn’t admit he was wrong, against Croatia they only had to worry about our right, because on the left they knew he was cutting it back onto his right every time in attack, and in defence if they went on his outside it was a free pass to get round him.

As you can tell the whole thing still pees me off😂😂 It sounds a bit nasty but to me Robson earned us that place, Southgate was gifted it and still messed it up. Or at the very least, you can only beat what’s infront of you, and what was infront of one england team was considerably more difficult than that what was infront of the other.

Can’t disagree with Chris’s last post, the talent we’ve got now all at 1 time is incredible, they’re all star players, or potentially, coached right and the sky’s the limit, imagine Mourihno in charge of them? 🏆 🏆🏆🏆🏆
