Following Emery's press conference earlier it is now crystal clear, if it wasn't before, that FFP rules are having a significant impact on the transfer window. I just wonder how long it will be before SKY flexes it's persuasive muscles in trying to get the rules eased. I say this as they invest an awful lot of time and money into transfer window programming and if there is little to report it will not go down well with them. Remember media love to set/create the agenda.

As we know FFP is around trying to improve the financial capacity of football clubs and to prevent them spending beyond there means. As such even though SKY have a lot of muscle I can’t see the footballing authorities bending on this issue nor should they to be honest.

I reckon there’s some smoke and mirrors stuff going on here… haven’t we just gained £55M through some shares/investment thing? We are 3 points off the top of the Prem, this is an ideal situation to really go for it ‘do a Leicester’ businessmen make money by taking risks, we have 2 multi billionaires that own us, who have the best accountants etc, I think (hope) they’ve got something up their sleeve, maybe a loan with obligation yo buy in the summer player that will make all the difference, I think it might be Jonathan David, pay a loan fee, deduct that loan fee from the price we’d pay in the summer, a similar thing to how Wedt Ham got Benrrhama, Arsenal and Reyes, you get me?

I’d be very surprised if we don’t buy at least 1 and probably 2, huge chance here for something special, the owners have spent a lot of money getting us to where we are and it wouldn’t make business sense to not make a final push especially when we have the likes of Doug emi and kamara worth huge amounts of money that we could sell one in the summer to balance the books if things don’t work out for us

The £55m for selling shares doesn't count. It's a capital transaction so doesn't hit the profit and loss and, more importantly, it is in the parent company and not Aston Villa itself.

Agreed Whackie, the 2 you mentioned would be more than replaceable at the prices we’d get for them (not that I would actively look to sell) We’re in a great position with our squad, not like under Lerner or the dodgy Dr lol
