So after all the talk of arsenal wanting luiz in the summer, and huge admirers of Watkins, the latest is they are now interested in Bailey, seriously is there any truth in any of these stories or are all these journalists just playing pin the tail on the donkey in the hope they eventually get one right?‍♂️
How are they fixed in relation to ffp, they have spent quiet a few Bob the last few seasons and I'm sure they have quiet the wage bill, any ED's able to shed any light on their current financial situation?

Whackattack

{Ed002's Note - Douglas Luiz (CM/DM) Juventus failed with an offer of a straight swap deal for Aston Villa's Douglas Luiz in the summer. Arsenal interest has moved on to a preferred option but if they are unable to sign him and if Partey or Jorginho move on, then interest may return. Spurs may offer an option. Aston Villa will resist a sale. Wildcard would be a return to Manchester City to replace KP.
Ollie Watkins (S) Agent is looking for options and has spoken with Arsenal. Aston Villa want a new contract,

I am not aware of interest in Bailey.}

We shouldn’t be surprised at our top performers attracting interest from other clubs, over the last 18 months we have gone from being a side on the edge of the relegation zone to challenging for European football that will attract interest from the top sides. We have protected ourselves somewhat by getting Bailey, Watkins and Luiz to sign new contracts recently so we are in the driving seats when it comes to sales. That said however I do think that we are likely to let one of our stars go in the summer in order to ease any profitability and sustainability pressures.

2.) 26 Mar 2024 22:14:24
Cheers Ed?

3.) 27 Mar 2024 21:08:11
Ed just as a matter of interest, who was the juve player they wanted to swap for luiz?

{Ed002's Note - Moise Kean and Weston McKennie.}

4.) 28 Mar 2024 11:34:33
Thank god we had good sense ?

Rumours are we bid close to 15 million for rogers? Is he worth it I wonder?

Whackattack

1.) 28 Jan 2024 20:21:13
I would say yes because he better than duran in my opinion, and hasn't got a bad attitude

2.) 29 Jan 2024 16:55:39
3rd bid rejected, move on he’s not worth anymore, 2 championship goals, there are better players out there imo

3.) 30 Jan 2024 01:37:08
Agree he's not worth any more 15 mil is pushing it move on too some1 else

4.) 30 Jan 2024 08:13:11
Papers have changed their mind to say the bid was only £7.5m.
£15m was way too high considering reports were they only wanted £10m.
Some of the inflated figures we may see will probably include any sell on percentage on top of any other clauses.
I'm not convinced he'll make much difference as the noise only seems to have come from a couple of cup matches. We do need more competition on that left side though and he's not overly expensive at anything less than £10m.

02 Jan 2024 21:39:46
Cyril ngonge of Hellas Verona, never heard of him but I read a report saying we had a 9 million bid accepted for him. the money seems about right, I can't see us spending more than 30 million across 2 or 3 players

1.) 03 Jan 2024 11:43:09
His stats are good, and there is a video of him doing a scorpion kick goal similar to Girou for Arsenal a few years back. Looks like he's going to Fiorentina though.

2.) 03 Jan 2024 14:27:46
Villa56 I have seen a report we have a verbal agreement for him, just personal terms and medical to sort out. Monchi appears to be all over this one.

I see a link claiming we're interested in Marcus alonso on the news feed tonight. would bring lots of experience

I heard we have an announcement coming tomorrow, I can only guess as to what it is, I'm thinking with all the noise it's about zaniolo.

Whackattack

1.) 15 Aug 2023 07:21:33
According to Fabrizio Romano we have reached a verbal agreement and if everything goes as planned Zaniolo will have a medical on Wednesday.

2.) 15 Aug 2023 10:02:31
Italian press are saying the same ?

What is Martinez at, it's more than one corner now that he's deliberately standing behind Antonio, pure luck that it was disallowed

Seems to be a lot of comments missing today, or is just because we won ??

Whackattack

1.) 15 Mar 2024 15:35:06
Difficult to comment too much Whack, My grandsons said Ajax would struggle to compete in the championship, so it's hard to get carried away or comment other than job done and a worry about Ollie and Carlos.

2.) 15 Mar 2024 16:50:21
No comment Whack

3.) 16 Mar 2024 11:16:16
Plenty of teams in the competition that would struggle in the championship, while lots of premier league teams struggle against championship teams in cup competitions, you can only beat what’s in front of you which we done quiet professionally, they got 2 shots on target over 2 legs, we don’t have to get carried away but we can still enjoy getting into the quarterfinals of a European competition.
West Ham won the competition last year while skirting relegation most of the season while we have done it so far while staying in the top 4, lots of positives, great to see Duran back as an option and got a cracking goal, great confidence boost for Diaby getting in on the action to put them to the sword, and great goals for 2 of our best players. not much point in winning it if we can’t enjoy the ride.

14 Mar 2024 22:07:37
Question, what was the difference between ederson at the weekend and the challenge their keeper made on Duran?

Whackattack

1.) 14 Mar 2024 23:07:45
Whack, Durans shirt was a good clue .

14 Mar 2024 22:05:47
Super win, great confidence boost, delighted that Diaby got a goal, hopefully Watkins is ok we really can't afford to lose him for any length of time.

So we are always talking about who we would buy.
Looking at our finances released we are down 120 million last year, I'm only ball parking here but I'm kinda thinking we need to make 40 in sales to keep things right, then anything over that we could reinvest in the summer.
So who would you sell?
I'm going with Ramsey, cash, chambers, if we are seriously going to buy lenglet I'd probably sell mings aswel, that should make 100 million plus, throw in 1 or 2 more from the youth squad and we should have a nice few quid to reinvest. the likes of Martinez, konsa, Torres, kamara, maginn, luiz, Bailey and Watkins are untouchable in my opinion if we are to keep progressing.
interested to hear your opinions

1.) 06 Mar 2024 06:55:58
Whack, a really good article by a chap called George Simms on an outlet called inews gives a really good picture of what ffp means for us now and moving forward. If I am honest it’s a little worrying. Although we increased our turnover from something like £168 million to £217 million that’s still less than the likes of West Ham and Brighton which for a club of our size is shocking, and our wage bill went up to somewhere in the region of £190 million a year nearly 90% of income which is the UEFA ceiling over which I believe a club can’t operate in European competition. So all in all, and if I am reading things right the club has some serious work to do between now and the end of June, and selling the likes of Ramsey seems to me to be merely a sticking plaster and I think in all likelihood means we need to sell either Luiz or Watkins if we want to continue to spend and stay the right side of the profitability and sustainability rules.

2.) 06 Mar 2024 10:26:03
I hear ya lotm, I did suggest more than one sale, the players I suggested would bring in the equivalent of selling either just luiz or Watkins plus it would save more on the wages side of things, I’m assuming West Ham stadium helps them with turnover plus the 105 million they got last year for rice and I think it’s unfair to compare to Brighton with the money they made over the last 3 seasons in sales it must of being close to 500 million, the board obviously have a plan they are pretty shrewd business men in fairness. if we are to sell our star players we really are going to have to find some absolute gems to keep us where we are at

He’s not getting any younger though, am I mixing him up or is he 31? If he comes in I wonder will that mean mings is on his bike?

I think digne doesn’t get enough credit, I think we are better with him on the field, he is on high wages though. both kamara and Ramsey seem to be quiet injury prone so if it meant keeping our main guys I’d happily let them go, surely they would be worth the bones of 100k between them?

Personally I hope he picks Toney and Ollie can have a good rest without the chance of getting injured for next season.

I agree with menace to a point and Dan at the same time, we played 100 minutes yesterday meaning that for 70 minutes of the 100 West Ham didn’t have the ball, Pak I ask how they were the better team for 75 minutes? Because they defended well? Obviously not well enough to stop us scoring the equaliser, if you base your whole strategy on defending in the premier league you get punished, time and time again we see teams trying to hold out on a 1 goal lead till the end and they end up crumbling, if your going to rely on defence you have to be 100% for the whole game not just 70 or 80 minutes, don’t get me wrong I would at times like to see the ball going forward quicker but possession seems to be the name of emery’s game, I know it’s frustrating to watch at times but it’s also very frustrating for the team defending and they make mistakes eventually, I watched city and united 2 weeks ago and it was exactly the same I thought them slow building up and way to much backwards but they kept at it and eventually United made the mistakes and city scored the goals to win it, so compare the quality they have available and look at our inferior squad and injuries to boot and a draw away to West Ham does not look like a bad result, Jarrod Bowen has being prolific all season and he hardly got a sniff yesterday apart from his dead ball deliveries which we can’t control. you say they attacked with purpose when they had the ball, they had exactly the same shots and shots on target as us with only 30% of the ball so would you ask maybe if keeping them from having the ball was a better strategy than sitting in and offering up more chances? Don’t forget to add in home advantage and us missing 2 of our regular and best midfielders into the equation, 4 points from 2 games against them is not to be sniffed at.
