He's supposed to be a centre half/defensive midfielder, so Bogarde should go, ready-made replacement & pure profit on Bogarde's sale, which helps with the financial stuff. I've seen that Madjo has gone to some kind of boot camp thing, so maybe they're confident that they're gonna rule in his favour.
I'd keep him around rather than loan him out. I've got a good feeling about Madjo. L'pool threw Owen in at roughly the same age, what harm could it do. ??♂️

We've had some great No9's over the years, but you can't beat a Gary Thompson kind of striker that becomes a cult hero. Hope the same goes for Madjo.

Yep, same as well, mate. Hope we win that CAS case so he can play this season. He's born in England and played for England youth teams, let's hope they see sense, cos we could have another Duran on our hands, or a better version of Keinan Davis, who was decent.

Just thought as well, Jonny, not sure if this is right, because of his age (Madjo), he can be registered as an u23/development player, so as I understand it, the £10M we paid doesn't count in the rules, so gives us more wiggle room to spend elsewhere, I could be wrong though.

It's an odd 1, Whackie. He's a left-sided centre-half & so is Van Der Ven, who (apart from his fitness issues) imo is up there in the top tier of defenders. Unless he's off to somewhere, I'd have him at Villa in a heartbeat if he could stay fit.

So fellas, who do you all want us to buy in the summer? Assuming what would be our 1st 11 if they were all fit, who would you rather have in their place? I’d put that 1st 11 up against anyone. We just need players to push them. There’s fringe players that will leave that need replacing. Has Digne got another season in him? Is Maatsen really good enough to replace him & who do you think would be better? Talk of Beskitas wanting Mings. Senisi would be my choice to replace him. Do we keep Lindelof as he didn’t do himself any harm last season? Cash had a decent season, but I think Mingueza would be a good upgrade that can also play centre half, & we have Bogarde that’s the same.
My hunch is Emi will stay unless we get a silly offer for him. Sancho & Bailey should go. Godts & Soule would be my replacements (& where most of our budget would go). Up top we’re ok, but would Vlahovic be worth a punt? Wages would be big, but you’re getting a £50M+ player for free that has resale value. If we got those players, the only position I’m worried about is left back. A hit-the-ground-running player for me would be Robinson of Fulham, or is there someone else out there that’s younger as we need to get our average squad age down? So many questions lol ?

In terms of our 'outs', I would be losing Nedjelkovic, Garcia, Mings, Digne, Barkley, Guessand, Bailey, and, probably a little controversially, Buendia (too inconsistent for me), and Abraham. I feel a little sorry for him, but I don't think he suits how Emery likes to play. In terms of incomings, I am assuming the money we get from these sales is in addition to the £100 million we allegedly have already.
At the back I would take Mingueza, Lacroix and Neco Williams to challenge Maatsen at left back. In midfield, Rashford, Brandt, Wilson, Rowe, and Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough. Up front, I would spend big on Thiago at Brentford. I also would try my luck to nick a couple of loan deals, only this time players Unai would want, so Marmoush and Nwaneri would be nice.

In’s: Rowe, Whittaker, Senesi, Wilson, Alejandro Grimaldo of Bayern Leverkusen for LB. I think they might be interested in Maatsen in a swap deal. Need a decent backup for Cash, but I don’t know who I’d like. I think Cash has done enough to keep his place, so it’s not a replacement we need.
We need a like for like backup for Watkins, but I’m not sure who. Scour the South American market for one. I like Hugo Larson as another center midfielder.
We might not buy any of the players we think, but what we do need is to get recruitment spot on this year, the sky is the limit if we do.

Midfield Sangare from Forest, Smith Rowe.
Wingers Jonathan Rowe, Mane from Wolves.
Striker Marcus Thuram from Inter or Schade from Brentford, Id love Groupi or Marmoush, but that might not be realistic.
Also, if Martinez left, Id go for Kellerher, and if Rodgers goes, Gibbs White.

Is Onana's injury that big a deal, not a guaranteed starter, injured more often than not, wouldn't have bothered me if he was going to be sold this summer, I know we need a squad but shouldn't we be more leaning towards starters in other positions that we always grumble about?
Or on the other hand, buy someone in his position that would be a starter, as in not looking for bargains to cover him while he's injured, someone that would replace him?

Our 1st choice 11 as it stands (if no one of them leaves) pretty much picks itself. Emi, back 4 of Digne-Torres-Konsa-Cash, mid 2 Kamara-Tielemans, Buendia-Rogers-McGinn behind Ollie. If none of them leave, who out of them would be edged out by a signing that would start? To my mind, it's only Digne-Cash-Buendia that are 50/50, could be improved on in a starting 11. Been mentioned on here for left back that Jakob of Galatasaray looks decent at the World Cup, valued at around £10M, Mingueza, right back on a free, that would free up the big money for Buendia's position.
Someone like Godts or Mbaye, both who would cost £30-40M, would even go as far to say Curtis Jones could play that role. I'm just saying players who would start. I know we need options off the bench & to cover any outgoings, but I'm saying £50M only makes our starting 11 better. ??♂️

I've gotta admit, I'm disappointed we haven't snapped up Senisi & Mingueza on frees, particularly Mingueza, because (apparently) we've been after him for a while. Some encouraging things/rumours though: Torres & Gonclaves, that we've (apparently again) been after, are available & at much lower fees.
If Unai wanted them before, then maybe now he'll get them? They'd definitely improve our squad. Would it take Rogers being sold to get them though?
