The 'Watkins dilemma'. Ollie is a good guy, a good player, if we aspire to win things we can't rely on 1 striker, we can't not have another quality striker because we don't want to upset Ollie, shouldn't strikers be pushing each other for that 1 spot? That's how you become successful.

We obviously need a back up striker, but do we want 1 who's happy to get '15 mins' every other game? I personally think we'd be better with 2 up top, or a 9 and a false 9, or a 9 and a No10. Without repeating myself lol, Jonathan David is the guy for me, 1 year left on his contract come the summer so there's a deal to be done there, there'll be competition for him but that only shows that he'd be an asset to whoever he goes to.

Next season (or part of this) we'll have Mings, Buendia back, we'll have a better squad to pick from, only thing missing is that quality 2nd striker, the potential is there with Duran but we should be in the market for starters, we're back in the place a club our size should be, we have an exceptional manager, fantastic owners, it's exciting times ahead

I agree Allstar, I think we are 3 players away from being a side that will be able to compete with the so called big six. A striker as you say to challenge Ollie, we can argue over the who (my preference is and always has been Patrick Schick) but someone who can push Ollie is a must. A right back again to challenge Matty Cash who isn’t as bad as some on here would have you believe but is inconsistent. The lad from Leverkusen Frimpong looks a really good player quick, a good crosser of the ball and scores goals as well. Finally a back up keeper as Olsen isn’t good enough, I’ve read somewhere that Kelleher at Liverpool may be available come the end of the season if that is true we should be all over that. The problem I think we will face is that to comply with FFP will mean that to buy 3 quality players will mean we need to sell one of our star players to generate the necessary funds as our income streams aren’t sufficient to sustain us spending £100 million plus on new recruits so we will need to balance how we improve the squad without weakening the first XI which will be tricky I think.

Sadly I think Dougie will be sold. Bought for 15m sell him for 80m and hope we can find some cheaper gems.

I agree Bucky but not on the figure, Doug is worth every bit as much as rice, I know he’s not English but prices keep inflating so 12 months after rice move for 105 I think we should have no problem getting 100 for him we just have to play hardball, I really hope if he does go that it’s to Madrid or Barcelona or even psg…
Then we have to talk about a replacement, we probably don’t want to spend more than 30ish so who would you guys buy?

I always fancied Frank Anguissa, was it Fulham or Brighton he had a season on loan with, he had a stellar season for the year he was was there.

I think it will be Luiz who is sacrificed and I agree the fee should be at least what West Ham got for Declan Rice, but I would rather he go to Arsenal I’d ask for Tierney, and ESR in part exchange plus a cash adjustment and I’d use that to go for Neves. I’d then look to sell Digne and probably Ramsey try to sign the right back, forward and goalkeeper we need.

The only arsenal players I’d take in exchange that they realistically part ways with are Jorginho and trossard, they can keep their injury prone bench warmers.
Mitoma is another player we should be looking at if a reasonable deal could be made with Brighton.

Wouldn’t take Jorginho or Trossard, Jorginho too old and slow, and when we have Diaby and Bailey why Trossard? But as usual it’s all about opinions, and I am sure Emery will have his own targets probably from La Liga.

True mate, I was thinking trossard plays on the left unlike Bailey or Diaby and Jorginho controls the ball well in midfield and like emery’s style he can slow play right down pretty well. neither would be my first choices of players to buy, I was just thinking of arsenal players. your right though I’d imagine Emery would raid la liga.

With Kamara being out for a long while then if Dougie was to go it’d have to be top dollar money for him. Wed then need 2 midfielders. The names I’d throw in are Pauhlihna and Koopermeiners. There’s probably players Emery has his eye on and probably a lot cheaper than them 2. Maybe we’ll get lucky and some Saudi team will come in for Dougie for more than we could dream of getting and then the sky’s the limit ??‍♂️

Koopmeiners is a really good shout right age and although a defensive midfielder he has an eye for a goal, 7 goals and 3 assists in 21 games in Seria A is non too shabby. Although i think we would probably be looking at a fee north of £50 million to buy him.
