4 points ahead of Wolves with 4 games in hand. That sounds good.

Just wondering, but players aren't allowed to wear jewellery for safety reasons (I believe), so why is Mings allowed to chew gum? One of these days he'll accidentally choke himself on the pitch.

Chewing gum not banned, have a read into chewing gum and it’s relation to reaction times arc. A lot of players use it and see it as a worthy risk. Nothing new.

2.) 27 Dec 2020 15:00:43
Wasn't claiming it was anything new. But I don't see others doing it. It gives the impression that he's trying to look cool, which he doesn't. Sounds like a dull read so I'll take your word for it. I still think it's a stupid risk though.

3.) 27 Dec 2020 18:53:54
A dull read that will educate you on why it’s not a stupid risk. Plenty of players do it.

4.) 28 Dec 2020 01:50:37
Playing sport and chewing gum brings a choking risk no matter what the benefits you refer to may be. That was all my point was.

Once again VAR ruining football. We should never have had a penalty to be fair, but equally. How can watkins' goal be disallowed if it takes 4 minutes to make a decision, based on the CLEAR AND OBVIOUS rule?! I've ranted since var started and now people seem to start just accepting it. It needs to be gotten rid of. It's absolute nonsense and has ruined football for me. I'm glad I can't go to games atm because at least I don't celebrate and then be disappointed. I HATE it. I thought we were the better team, but a draw would have been fair. I'm also pretty disgusted that we cheated a lot tonight. Come on Villa, this isn't us. Having said all that, I'm happy that we are in with a chance in every game we play. Still, gutted tonight. Sorry for the rant.

Not me Dave, I accept nothing.
Its ludicrous and gone to far, VAR should be used to see if the ball crossed the line, the fun has gone out of the game, just as the fun is being drained out of everything else.
VAR should be binned, has ruined the game.

2.) 30 Nov 2020 22:18:00
Not clear and obvious mistake. However with the chances we create it shouldn't have mattered. Disappointing we've gone into the season with one decent striker having done the same last year. Someone's to blame for that. With our home form Friday night could be a big problem.

3.) 30 Nov 2020 22:23:41
Hawkeye is there for goals. VAR was brought in for the sole purpose of stopping the complaints from bad offside decisions. We got what we wanted and now we don't like it.
I don't have an issue with offsides, its black or white and I'm not even sure why it took so long to call that one as the lines weren't even overlapping, I knew it as soon as I saw the still frame.
The penalty decisions are my issue. Tonight's could have been overturned but Rice was pulling the shirt but the Brighton one shouldn't have been.
My opinion is it should be left to offside and red cards only, all other decisions are for the officials on the pitch. My only leeway is for obvious handball after a goal is scored, a la Henry.

4.) 30 Nov 2020 22:43:50
I was a fan of mings but he was horrible tonight again, I don’t think engles is better so for me we need to buy another cb to make him pull his finger out and command his box because losing games isn’t giving him the kick in the back side he needs, konsa much better defender and much better in the opposition box. tonight and the Southampton game very tough losses to take, robbed tonight plain and simple.

5.) 30 Nov 2020 23:46:07
Absolutely agree Dave. To be clear, it was the penalty we were actually awarded that I thought was also a poor decision. No way that Trez was properly fouled there! Yet they still spent minutes deciding with VAR. The goal-line tech works fast and accurately (when it's turned on ;p) but VAR is a disgrace. I'm not suggesting it has been used for this yet, but it does also open up the opportunity for manipulation/ corruption within the game.

6.) 30 Nov 2020 23:47:39
Also, football is a unique sport. It doesn't work well with 'stats' and such because it's a free-flowing sport ont he whole. This is another reason that VAR ruins the game. Another point (sorry! ) is how come when 2 decisons per half (for example) take 8 minutes to decide, 8+ minutes isn't ever added onto the half? They don't stop the clock do they?

7.) 01 Dec 2020 09:57:51
Irrelevant of the offside, how can someone spend 5 minutes looking at the same still image, and completely miss the fact Ogbonna has Watkins in a bear hug!

They are looking at scrapping the pay-per-view system for the Premier League now, starting after the international break.

Dave vtid

1.) 05 Nov 2020 18:38:32
I wish they would scrap the useless International breaks Dave.

2.) 05 Nov 2020 22:16:13
Ok I'll ask them to change it :) Yeah I'm not a fan either.

I know this sounds unrealistic, but Marcos Alonso at lb? Wages same as Drinkwater (which makes this unrealistic) but apparently he's available. 29 so he's not for the future, but would bring great experience and would have JT and Barkley to make him feel at home.

Probably too early to say, but I wouldn't be surprised if it is called off.

Jack is not replaceable. I wouldn't want him to leave for 1 billion. What's the point if we can't get someone else equally as good or better? If he were to leave this year then I would think it'd have to be at least 120m. Why would we even consider him leaving though? As I say, we cannot replace him and it would screw the club up. I don't think Barkley or Martinez would have joined if Grealish wasn't already committed to Villa. He has more pulling power than Smith.

Do not speak of the Lord Mcginn in that manner please. He is not replaceable.

Hello everyone. I'm new here. Dunno how to comment without directly replying, so aplogies! Been lurking for a few weeks and some great opinions in here (and a few shockers! ) . My current thoughts are:

1) I love Guilbert. Cash looks good at tackling, but I worry for his positioning and dribbling skills. I would pick Guilbert over Cash at LB, but I don't trust Cash as a right winger (which isn't why we was bought anyway) so it concerns me that Cash seems to have been brought in as a direct replacement for Guilbert; who I think is excellent and also young and has massive potential.

2) Watkins appears to have fantastic positioning and workrate. I just hope he can score goals when in these positions. Note: I'm at half-time in the Villa v Man Utd game so I haven't seen any of the 2nd half yet.

I never wanted him gone because I have a brain that can think beyond 3 weeks. He's got a great record with us and is a Villa fan. Why would I ever have wanted him gone? So many fickle fans. I've wanted a manager in charge for the long term and he's a Villa fan. Doesn't get much better than this.
