Forgive me if this has already been mentioned but I have had a thought going round in my head the last few days.
Coronavirus has been hitting the world hard, not least the financial markets.
Will there come a time when our owners will say "enough is enough" and start divesting themselves of loss making and inconsequential areas of their business such as AV?
They must already seen massive losses.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Apr 2020 14:29:23
That is very feasible Aka, and in an ideal world might/ could happen.
At the moment we are not in an ideal world, and the difficult part would be finding an investor.
After all said and done, the buyer would be in the same situation as the seller, owning a business that is going nowhere for the foreseeable future.
Unless they sell for a pittance obviously.

Well there goes jcks chances of eng call up he's our captain and is an idiot what is he thinking, while most of us our inside, footballers think there in a world of there own I still love the game but it's not what it used to be in my view football was amazing bck in early 2000s and 90s were class aswell better players then more entertaining aswell, plus players wasn't bothered about social media then aswell. I'd strip jck of captain and give it to mgginn.

With all the sacrifices everyone is making it just shows deep down what kind of person Grelish is, this isn't the first time he has put two fingers up with his behavior . I think this is that serious Aston Villa via Purslow should make a public statement and condemn this in the strongest terms how unacceptable this behaviour is from an Aston Villa employee and the punishment to be imposed. Obviously the time of the accident and the state of him, he had obviously been heavily drinking, I am ashamed he his associated with our club.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Mar 2020 22:13:26
That's their attitude to everything in life, normal rules do not apply within the privileged little bubble they live in accentuated by the sycophants they surround themselves with. I've never understood hero worship, respect for their abilities yes, but never put on a pedestal just being rich and famous does not exclude them from the rules and guidelines we all should follow, now more than ever.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Mar 2020 07:47:18
I wouldn’t tar all players with the same brush, I’m sure there are those who do behave responsibly. Jack Grealish though clearly doesn’t fall into that category. He has not just let the club down, he has let everybody down.
I’m not averse to players going out and enjoying themselves, they’re human beings like the rest of us but you just cannot condone the kind of reckless behavior that Grealish has demonstrated, maybe it is time for him to move on.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Mar 2020 09:03:47
I agree with that sentiment Mark and I'm not taring them with the same brush, some behave like the professionals they are, James Milner springs to mind but these people are role models to thousands if not millions of people and should behave accordingly, now more than ever. Yes they're human but are paid handsomely for what can be a short lived career. Its just the hypocrisy between words and actions that galls me.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Mar 2020 10:43:03
It galls me too Moose. There are couples out there with kids, no money, or worse still, stuck in small apartments, but they’re following the restrictions set out to the letter because they realize how vital it is, and they want to do what’s right. You’re right the likes of Grealish should be setting the example, I just hope people don’t start changing the good habits they’ve adopted, with the attitude, if he thinks he can do what he likes, why can’t we.
McCormack is equally irresponsible too, if he invited Grealish, knowing full well how easily influenced he is and also knowing the trouble it could potentially cause.

31 Mar 2020 12:45:44
If it was McGateface (no proof yet, just in case of a libel court appearance lol) he's robbed a living off the Villa for years but got more money than the average working man (or woman) will earn in a lifetime and then basically sticking 2 fingers up at the people who helped provide said lifestyle just shows the mindset of idiots like them at this time of national crisis.

Reading some of the paper talk about FA, UEFA whoever wanting to get the leagues and cup competitions finished this season by cramming as many games as possible into a short time frame.

I'll say this : my opinion of footballers is they're overpaid, privileged and live in they're own little bubble worlds, far removed from average Joe working public (tho they may be nice people I may add) but, to expect them to perform like circus animals to meet their agenda, is borderline ridiculous.

They are human beings after all and many have friends and family who will be affected by this horrendous disease, after all it does not discriminate position, race, creed or religion. Common sense should prevail so that everyone is safe and secure to hopefully return to normality as soon as possible and if that means the money men have to take a hit then so be it.

LIVES ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN MONEY! We're all missing our favourite sports and seeing our loved ones but we as a nation should pull together to stop this terrible disease and ensure that everything humanly possible is done to achieve that end.

Cancelling sport is not the end of the world, and we'll all face hardships along the way, but please FA UEFA FIFA whoever, do the right thing for humanity, not the people who count the money.

STAY SAFE EVERYONE AND EVENTUALLY WE WILL PREVAIL.

Yeah well said Moose.
I will just add, a quiet word in Jacks ear and a slap would not go amiss here.
He may be ours, but that does not take away the fact that he is an idiot and a moron.
The bloke needs to grow up, behave like a sensible adult, that is the second time he has made himself look a P--tt.
I am incensed by this, think of the people he has put at risk.

If selfish people want to realise the importance of self isolation and social distancing then they should watch the first 10 minutes of the film Contagion, stop and think for a moment what, however trivial seeming, their actions could lead to.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Mar 2020 13:39:43

And yes Moose, its frightening mate.

I'd question his judgement on 2 fronts: firstly the hypocrisy of telling fans to isolate and then going to a party; secondly, what the hell's he doing hanging around with Ross McShortarse?

Agree0 Disagree0

Watching MOTD premier leagues greatest goal scorers on Saturday night got me thinking who and how would I rank the greatest Villa goal scorers I have seen since I started watching the Villa in the early 70's. I accept this is a subjective judgement based not only on the goals scored but also the contribution to the team things like work rate, assists and also the style of the players involved. but I put it out there to be shot at and I am sure that it will and I am also sure I will have missed someone major off the list but you guys will undoubtedly let me know

1. Yorke
2. Gray
3. Angel
4. Saunders
5. Dublin
6. Withe
7. Carew
8. Shaw
9.Little
10. Benteke.

Think Platty should be on that list somewhere John,
incredible strike rate for a midfielder. His work rate was pretty amazing also and I doubt many on your list provided more assists.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2020 23:02:47
Take your point Mark but I always considered him more of a goal scoring midfielder rather than an out and out striker which was why I didn’t consider him.

Yes but compare his strike rate with the number 1 on your list.

Got some of them Villaman, but I’m going to leave this one for somebody else mate, even though I must admit I was a Star Trek fan. Don’t want to be accused of being a glory grabber, lol.

{Ed001's Note - I would need to google to find the names of the characters. I tried watching that Picard show, got a few episodes in and just couldn't follow it because it kept bringing in characters from a previous series I had never seen. I had no idea what was going on!}

Ed’s, I’m in the process of putting together a boxing 🥊 anagram challenge, as I know there are many boxing fans on this site. If you want to post it on other clubs banter sites to give them something to help pass the time during this difficult period, please do so. The same goes for my previous football grounds challenge. I don’t think the ones on Aston Villa players would interest them, but maybe Moose’s World Cup goal scorers would do also.
