Seeing that 1st goal on Saturday it strikes me that Malen is better suited to the way we play than Watkins. Can't see Watkins being so quick footed to get the ball to Buendia to get a shot off and score.
I'm not criticising Watkins just an observation.

Ain't it a crazy world we live in, where we could be going for the title, but 1 of our rivals can spend £60M+ on1 player (that imo they don't even need or maybe it was to stop someone else buying him 🤔) but we have to wheel and deal to spend that even though it's loose change to our wealthy owners who want to spend it but can't? and that goes for Newcastle too, totally unfair

Tammy and Gallagher, anyone fancy them both, lots of speculation, some from allegedly reliable sources.
11 Jan 2026 17:16:04
If we get Mingueza as well and shipped a few out, better window than last Jan imo 🤔

72 you mention shipping a few out, name those you personally would ship out as surplus to requirements that would fetch good money mate

I like a wheel and deal… Barkley to go, Bailey, and controversially I’d let Malen go, Roma are sniffing round him, I think Emi will be gone by end of Jan, I’d keep Sancho as a direct replacement for Malen, Elliot gone and his loan replaced by Gallagher with a loan with obligation of £35M (same price as Elliot’s obligation to buy) the Barcelona keeper on loan till end of the season, and Tammy for the £11.2M that Beskitas were obliged to pay (no loan) Gallagher can mean Tielemans plays more forward, + we don’t know the extent of Kamara’s injury but it didn’t look good. Mingueza I’d see as more of a pre contract join in the summer deal. My maths tells me between £45M-£50M in sales there, not sure how many loans we can have at 1 time but if it’s only 2, then I’d hope it’d be Emi that stays 🤔

Lots of rumours about clubs after Malan, if he goes, that looks like another striker coming in .unless there’s a miracle, I can’t see Bailey going, I hope Buendia isn’t, he’s turned it all around . Sure be interesting to see what happens, we just have to trust in Emery UTV

Rumours of Madrid sniffing around mingueza. I wouldn’t sell Malen just to bring in Tammy, I would take Gallagher all day long.
I see Bernardo silva out of contract in the summer, wouldn’t he be a sweet free agent in the summer.

How did it take that dirty bugger Phalhinia so long to get booked., don't care how early it was, that tackle on Kamara was a booking .
Great first half, some brilliant football, not been a fan of Buendia starting, but just how good was he . Not only his goal, but his touches were absolutely superb, little flicks and back heels .
Bogard also was at it in midfield, getting a foot in and laying it off . When Spurs finally woke up, they made it much harder second half .
Overall a good team performance, let's just hope a get a good draw next leg . How about at Villa park, against the noses and shut them up . UTV

Simons on cash at the start was another blatant yellow card, the ref was terrible. Paulinha fouled all game and if the ref had of done his job right the Roger’s tackle wouldn’t of happened, let him away with it he will keep doing it.
10 Jan 2026 23:28:13
I thought Bogard made quiet a few mistakes tonight and lucky we didn’t conceded from any of them. Bogard is best when he keeps it simple, his football brain will grow and his footwork will get better, Kamara will teach him, he is a great squad player but not a good enough replacement yet if we were to lose Kamara.
11 Jan 2026 10:30:50
Bogarde had an excellent first half. It was a shame about the mistake for the goal and one other dodgy one not too long later.
We need him to gain some confidence in breaking lines and passing forwards. Kamara is OK when playing safe but looks so much better when he tries to take the game by the scruff of the neck.

How did Palhinha stay on the pitch?
Cannot believe the commentators praising his "fight and passion"
It was him that cleaned out Kamara after 3 minutes and was a persistent offender throughout culminating in a cynical foul on Rogers.
Shearer and Murphy are a pair of clowns.
Great 1st half. 2nd half was always going to be a battle especially after they'd scored.

On to round 4. Small Heath anyone?

Was hoping someone went in really hard on him loved Watkins celebrating in front of his face at the end then Roger’s getting involved. UTV

We had enough seats ripped out by the usually peaceful Swiss, reckon our maintenance budget could do with some help.
Remember that home cup match when Blues were in Championship with Zigic up front and we lost a good chunk of seats in the one corner.

Another Emery masterclass, some great football, hope Kamara is ok awful challenge, Tielemans definitely deputised with his usual class. We need a real simple draw at home.

It seems our transfer business, ins and outs, is becoming more complex by the day.
Obviously trying to find a solution for Elliott that suits all 3 parties. Until that's sorted it might be we can't bring anyone in.
Then we have the Bailey situation at Roma, where they apparently are not keen to keep him for remainder of the loan period. Again the ramifications to our strategy could/will be significant.
I hope the Elliott situation can be resolved for his sake as I believe he's a genuine lad who just wants to play. Signing him on loan with an obligation to buy was a huge mistake all round and now it's hitting us when we need to be free to make moves.
Bailey injury is just unfortunate but clearly Roma have got tired of his time on the sidelines.

The purchases of the latest potential young signings, they both look great for the future, however the number of young potential stars of the future in the past, I can't think of a single success. Chelsea have tried the young potential route and have failed miserably. We all hope the new guys will be the stars of the future, history doesn't doesn't bode well, but perhaps things will change, I certainly hope so.
On to Spurs, I'm off to the Capital to watch the game and hope it's a successful day out, however I do think Emery is not as adventurous as his press conference, he will not be putting his best starting eleven on the field for kick off. We would all love a great FA cup run however not at the expense of the champions league ambitions .
10 Jan 2026 12:34:45
The only one that was a success that springs to mind is Gareth Barry who we picked up for peanuts from Brighton. I believe the thinking is if they come good that’s great if not we sell on for a profit and when your paying under a million for a player that’s ok I think your on fairly safe ground, however when you are proposing to pay £10 million then I think you need to be really confident the kids going to make it.

Gary Cahill but MON preferred Zat Knight.
