Is it just me or is it the perfect time to bring Jack home? Villa through and through, made a fortune at City, won’t be relying on mega wages, won it all with City, just a shame he missed out on the Europa with us.

I'm not a Jack fan at all, but perhaps your dream will come true.

Should sign Tosin as well as Jackson.

At last, we have a striker, hopefully he can start on Monday. Coming from Chelsea, he would love to score against Arsenal. Hopefully we get more positive news over the next couple of days.

What on Earth is happening at VP, we can't seem to get any deals done?
Say what you like about Monchi but if Emery wanted a player he got him without all this failure.

26 Aug 2026 22:02:17
Sure, Monchi done great business like Guessand and Elliot, the recruitment does seem to be a bit of a s***show, but Monchi was no better.

Tomori of AC Milan should be our next target plus Leao of Milan and Jackson.
And Harwood Belles.

Hi rp, is Harwood Belles a women's team? Only joking. We know who you mean; it seems to alter every half hour.

I see Palace are in advanced talks to sign Ordonez. I hope we sign him because out of the other centre backs we have been linked with, he, in my opinion, is the best fit, right age profile, as well as being quick, athletic, having CL experience and a current international.

However, if he chooses Palace over us, I think that would be a worry in terms of how ambitious young players view our club.

Completely agree.

So, you have no problem spending 30 million on an injured player who can't do a proper medical?

26 Aug 2026 18:28:16
It seems we are after a central defender from West Ham after the Bruges player signed for Palace. This guy wasn't good enough to get in the first team of a relegated team. I really hope he is another player that we are possibly interested in, that never comes to fruition.

Monday is just round the corner and still no signings. If no one else is concerned, me, my son and grandsons are. All three of them predicted a heavy defeat on Sunday and predict the same on Monday, and I agree with them.

Ordonez now looks likely to go to Palace, if we wanted him why did we let him go? Transfer window is becoming a disaster.

1

26 Aug 2026 22:04:18
Because he's injured, I guess. I think we have enough injured players.

I am new to this forum and decided to join after our result against Brighton and the following negative reaction that followed. As my name suggests I now live in Australia but follow the Villa through thick and thin. I was there in 1970 standing in the Holte End as we were relegated into the Third Division.

I have seen many managers come and go at Villa Park and only two stand out as true managers, who are strategic, patient, team builders, motivators and true winners.

The first was Ron Saunders, and now Unai Emery. Emery has achieved so much within huge constraints and always looked at developing, improving and building a winning team.

As a Villa fan I have learned that it takes time to build a side. Unai Emery is like a chess master who builds his side with a plan and expects standards from his players. We now need patience and to give Emery our full support.

To all those Snowflakes who have been whinging and complaining I say this; it is at times like this that you get behind Emery and the team and the results will come. He is the best manager we have had and I do not want to lose him.
UTV always.

G'day Sport! 🦘 You're 100% right, biggest thing this summer for Villa is Unai not being tempted by any of the jobs that have come up. He's irreplaceable, in Unai we trust. 🦁

My biggest fear is Emery loses patience with the EPL and all the BS that goes with it.
He is one of the top managers in the world of football.
Simply cannot afford to see him go.
I don't think for one minute that any decision like that would be made because of comments made on websites like this or in social media.

He's smarter than that.
Oh, and welcome to the forum. I'm sure you'll smile, laugh and even be angered by some of the comments on here, but we all want the same, success.

100% not his fault what's happened. 2nd half of the season, we'll have bedded in the newbies and can hopefully progress up the league, if indeed we're not there already.

26 Aug 2026 22:06:18
I can't say I've seen people blame Emery for what's going on. It's not his fault, and he can only use the players available.

Four more days to sort a competitive defense for Monday night's game. I can't believe we haven't sorted the centre defence. We knew Konsa was likely to go and Sunday's result was absolutely no surprise. Why on earth are we messing about with our recruitment? Clock is ticking.

Knowing Villa, we will leave it deadline day, then we will sit the new recruits on the bench for a week or so and we will then be in to game four and who knows where we will be by then. I really hope we sort things by the weekend.

It's a bit of a worry that is true. I'm not sure what to make of this current situation. Should we have brought someone in knowing that Konsa was almost certain to leave? I would say so. Is patience the name of the game to get the defender(s) we want? I see Southampton have agreed a deal to buy a centre back from Germany.

That surely means that Taylor H-B is on his way to somewhere, us?
I'm also concerned about the striker situation. Watkins hasn't gone anywhere yet. I guess we're waiting to sort our side of things before he does. Who knows?
It does have the feel of a panic buy at the end of the window.

Scott, are you aware how transfers work? Cmon, you're better than that.

I'm not a fan of Harwood-Bellis or Todibo for that matter. Can't understand why we have let Ordonez slip through our fingers.

Just a thought… Chelsea need a keeper. If we were to do a deal with Chelski for Jackson that Emi would go to them as part of the deal, then that would be classified as a swap plus cash, so why would the Rogers deal be classed as a swap, totally separate deal isn’t it. 🤔🤷🏼‍♂️

It's to stop teams working around the financial rules, like we done with Everton re Dobbin and that youngster we sold them, I can't think of his name. It was a loophole, but now it's closed. Makes no difference now either way. We brought in so much in player sales this window that it doesn't matter if they classify it as a swap deal with Chelsea.

It was an issue early in the window because Villa didn't expect to sell so many players. We are way ahead now of where UEFA wanted us, so it's all good. I still think Jackson is a donkey, but we got 50 million for Ratkins, so that will offset the difference in the Roger's money on our books.

This would sort us out… Lloyd Kelly (left sided centre half) Juve, Harwood Bellis (right centre half), David (No9) Juve, about £70M spent there, Kelly cos Pau is off at the end of his contract, Harwood Bellis & maybe let Southampton have Cisse on loan to sweeten the deal, David cos he’s a cheaper option with good pedigree & not a big enough big time Charlie to stop Madjo coming through, all for just £5M more than what Jackson would cost, sorted.

👍🏻

I would not want David. Whoever we buy, though, isn't going to please all of the fanbase.
We need 2 centre backs, though, that is a must. Why is Mings still at the club? His best days are long behind him.

26 Aug 2026 14:41:59
Mings and Bailey must be unloaded this window!

0

26 Aug 2026 15:16:25
Bailey!? Christ, he's still there, isn't he!!

26 Aug 2026 15:21:06
Would you want Jonathan David coached by Emery though...? It’s the same scenario as with Garnacho. Last season, you’d say no; previous seasons, a strong maybe. David was on fire a couple of seasons ago. 🤷🏼‍♂️

We already have 2 left sided center backs, Mings won't be sold after all the other senior players leave. David has been rubbish the last 2 seasons. Mind you, so is Jackson, but the Watkins money pretty much pays for Jackson, who is younger and will have sell-on value at some point.

26 Aug 2026 09:24:26
£65m+ for Jackson is a lot of money imo. Hope we can get £50m+ for Watkins to partially offset it.
Haven't heard anymore on the Goretzka and Ordonez deals though?

0

26 Aug 2026 22:19:23
We get 50 million for Watkins. Jackson is only costing an initial 48 million, the add-ons bring it up to 65. I imagine he would have to score 20+ goals, and we qualify for the Champions League, for us to pay the full amount.
