You can see the games and injuries are catching up with us now. We can't expect the players to keep putting in the level of performances we've seen this season. We've played 46 games (I think) in the regular season and hopefully we'll have played 52 by the end of May with some silverware to show for it.
It's going to be tough and I think we might have to prioritise some games now.
Another 4 points might just be enough in the Prem to give us 4th place.
Martinez was out for Thursday anyway so good game time for Olsen.

I've seen a lot of comments about players being tired, injuries etc.
In 1980/81 Villa used 14 players through the league season. 14!
Now, I know that the speed and intensity of today's game is far removed from 40 years ago however, players are (or should be) far better conditioned today.
The pitches they play on these days are like the baize on a snooker table vs the sandy, boggy, sometimes ploughed fields they played on over 40 years ago.
We'll never see a team win the league using just 14 players again because the top clubs make sure they have 25 players to interchange now and that's what ultimately counts. Plus, you do need luck with injuries which we have not had and to be fair many other teams have suffered too.
I'm looking forward to the summer and intrigued to see who comes in and who leaves (there will be some).
European football is guaranteed, we just wait to see what level that will be.

I don’t want to win an argument with RK, he posts some good and well thought out things for as far back as I can remember, this forum would be boring if we all agreed like the SHEGFY get along gangg’ lol ? it’s been a great season as a whole, next season will define us, if FFP gives us the chance ?

Over the years, Iv had lots of friends, who played Saturday, Sunday and in the week if they could . The difference is, we are now talking about highly trained athletes, who as with any athletes, are more prone to pulls and niggles . The players from the 80s and today are like chalk and cheese. Mortimer, Bremner they where non stop runners, but I don’t honestly believe they would cope with the physical pressures of todays game .

Well, that's been coming. Absolutely dreadful performance. I'm sure the fixtures and injuries play a part but we can't even hold onto the ball.
Just want season to end now.

It’s hard to know what the priority is looking at the performances, luiz missing again all he does is pass back to Torres, he’s meant to be the creative spark but he’s the new backwards man, our squad is threadbare nothing on the bench to change the game, squeaky bum time now and hope Liverpool do us a favour, neither of our last 2 games will be easy.
on a positive note Olsen had a good game, credit where it’s due, midfield was awful, need guys to step up and show some grit now over the next 2 weeks

Really don't like the way we're set up today and we're far too casual with the ball.
I'm sure Olsen is a good keeper but he does not inspire confidence.

We can’t win every game. We’ve had a fantastic season. European football is guaranteed, was actually guaranteed 2 weeks ago. A European semi-final.
