Very unlikely that a takeover is anywhere near possible. For a start, no one has initiated the due-diligence process that would herald an active interest.

Far more likely is that Xia is looking for ways to raise money but without losing control of AVFC.

All the available evidence indicates that Xia is looking for partners and/ or the chance to sell shares.

That is being widely reported.

What isn't being reported openly is that Xia absolutely wants to retain control at any cost. Don't forget that there a loss of face issue at stake, one that will be hugely important for Xia.

Grealish is the obvious short-term fix. And the fee will be in between the 15 million suggested and the 40 million allegedly wanted by the club.

Assume a fee of 20-25 million - payable over 2 to 5 years - and we won't be too far wrong.

What worries me with this Dr going for investment in the club.
He seems to want Chinese investors,
We can't get money out of China as it is now,
I only wish we had British owners who we can relate to more easily,
But we wait and wait and wait for something to happen to put a smile on us suffering fans,

I can't understand how somebody, whether its the owner, chairman, club in general can be so reckless - Was nobody asking honest questions about how the club would survive if we didn't gain promotion? How has the club ended up in this position? Total mismanagement from top to bottom but unfortunately it looks like we are stuck under this regime for at least another season, I just hope we can maintain our Championship status until then.

A takeover will happen.

I don't see one happening, certainly not in time to make any real impact on next season - I can only imagine how the squad will look at that point once the vultures have swooped and Bruce has replaced them with over the hill ("experienced") players instead of giving youth a chance.

More gossip today that Nigel Pearson is about to drop out of the running for the Villa job. Just a single source at the moment with little to corroborate it but the media has picked up on it.

Just to reiterate: Moyes was unhappy about the transfer budget and by the desire by Xia to get involved in transfer decisions.

There is a cultural issue here that sometimes the UK doesn't get. In Asia, the owner gets involved in the running of sports clubs - its the norm. Xia expects this and wants to raise the profile of Villa in Asia (especially China) by bringing in Asian players.

Standby also on Xia being approved as new owner. Lots of concern about exactly how much money his has. More importantly, there are worries about the legitimacy of his business claims.

from where. where are you getting this info or is this just your opinion. sounds a load of bs to me. I've done a lot of checks on this guy and trust me he has money and he will pass all tests.

2.) 24 May 2016 08:51:10
Moyes dropped out because he wants the everton. Thought that was fairly obvious.

3.) 24 May 2016 09:40:14
He may want Everton but they want a high profile manager to spend their millions. He will end up unemployed at the end of the summer, and only him self to blame,

Well said fordy, and we, bless us, were his publicity vehicle, damn we're good.

Benteke and Delph deals are both structures payment deals. In response to this:

So it seems Benteke's medical is held up because Liverpool think we are a short term loan facility and don't want to pay for Benteke upfront and rather do a payment structure type agreement. Having a laugh for sure.

Pretty much every deal transfer deal is paid over time. The Benteke deal will be a small sum immediately, then the rest paid over 2 years.
This isn't a computer management game with a lump sum changing hands.
Nothing to worry about, it's how Villa spend as well

It isn't insulting at all. No one is going to open the bidding at a 100 million billion pounds.

Villa want 12, Stoke offer 5. The clubs settle on 8-9.

At the moment, no one has started the due diligence process. That is the key indicator that a takeover has reached a formal stage.

The Dr is still looking for someone to invest, up to 49% ownership of the club being offered.

No fee is up front on that scale.

Taking the figure of 15 million as an example, there would be a deposit of 10-20% and the rest will be paid over 2-5 years.

Transfer fees are almost never paid in one single lump sum.

There is still a fine side there. What do we know:

1. Deadly Doug and Randy Lerner were excellent owners who ran the financial side of the club prudently. And those Villa fans who criticised Ellis but especially Lerner were utterly wrong.

2. The Dr does not want to sell - the loss of face issue will be very important to him. Important to understand that cultural dimension. It will explain a lot of what is going on.

3. No one has started due diligence, which is another clue that there is no imminent takeover underway. Not that the Dr looks like selling AVFC.

4. The Doc's plan to find a minority investor is flawed. There will be few investors willing to handover money without any sort of strategic control. Especially the sort of money that is needed.

5. Player sales will happen and the money received will flow into the club over 3-5 years, to allow the club to plan expenditure. Example: Grealish goes to Spurs for £25 million. That 25 million will be received by Villa over a 5 year period.

6. Bruce is likely to walk or at least, find an excuse to leave. He is a chequebook manager who likes spending money on transfers and wages. He will not be happy at having his budget cut. Have a look at what happened at Hull. I would expect Bruce to leave shortly before the start of the season, with some sort of "irreconciliable differences" relating to "broken promises".

7. Administratoin is not going to happen. AVFC, thanks to Ellis, has solid land ownership, which offers a contingent reserve.

8. AVFC has a sold fan base, which adds additional resiliance.

9. The club needs to stabilise its finances, through sound austerity measures. Once complete, the club will be able to benefit. This might take a few years to complete.

Not worried at all.

Flackie, you sound hysterical. Which is fine because we know that some fans allow emotions to drive their behaviour.

But you are largely incorrect. And you are being subjective, not objective.

Much of my input here will be proven mostly correct but no one can guarantee 100% - it's a rumour site for that reason. Pearson turned down the job even though it was never formally offered. Move on.

As for the "I don't agree with you, you must be a bluenose" post later on from someone. come on, that's a child's argument. I am not even a soccer fan. I just don't like chav sports but I do have sympathy for the Villa through family connections.

And if Xia stated he had a gazillion million billion deposited in a British bank account, you would believe him?

This guy is a millionaire, not a billionaire, so some of his previous statements about intent and expenditure are divorced from reality.

Having said that, there is a slight swing in attitude being played out towards a favourable stance to Xia from the authorities. That doesn't mean a decision has been made but the atmospherics are improving.

With regards to a manager, it's coming down to someone who will accept a greater level of involvement from the chairman and that clearly indicates a continental appointment!

Xia is worth millions, not billions.

clue is that he is a "millionaire"

A more likely outcome is that Xia is blocked from becoming the new owner.
