Here's one for you Villadave, if he agrees, and Monaco agree to let him go, we have a deal for Slimani in place in principle on loan, don't go cartwheeling too much, knowing our luck he'll agree to join permanently!

Classof82

1.) 13 Jan 2020 16:42:54
I would rather not to be honest 82, I think we need Two strikers, and both on permanent deals.
There is better out there, so we need to beef up our efforts and show the fans and football world we mean business.
If we are still in the same position come January 30th yes, but as it stands not for me mate.

2.) 13 Jan 2020 18:55:25
Slimanis a good player better than anything what we have by a mile.

3.) 13 Jan 2020 19:03:07
Yeah sure he is, until he had played a couple of games for us, then you would be one of the first on here wanting to wring his bloody neck.
Think about it mate.

4.) 13 Jan 2020 20:00:50
They reckon llorente was quality before went to spurs .

13 Jan 2020 08:35:57
So there's a few bloggers saying that even if we pull the pin on deano that it's already too late to try and tempt the likes of pulis of big Sam, because by the time their installed it'll be too late for them to wheel and deal in the market, so if that's the case, we're looking at probable relegation, all our young players bought by Dean of with 'potential 'leaving for pastures new, and the ones who stay won't like the championship 2 game a week scenario, so that means another couple of years rebuilding, it's like deja-vu! IF deano stays and we get relegated then for me, we need a manager like Chris Wilder, no nonsense, either you put a shift in or jog on-and yes, I'd consider big Sam, but hey, we may confound the odds and stay up!

Classof82

1.) 13 Jan 2020 10:34:52
I seriously don't consider any of them except Pochettino.

2.) 13 Jan 2020 13:09:21
Ur dreaming as if poch would come to villa no chance mate.

12 Jan 2020 13:36:11
Islam Slimani-owned by the that mob who peddle crisps and now we've apparently asked about his availability, to deano and those in CHARGE-NNNNNNOOOOOOO!

Classof82

1.) 12 Jan 2020 14:14:28
No No No, definitely No.

02 Jan 2020 07:30:16
So, now the latest 2 strikers being mentioned are a fella from Lyon, vibrant is willing to let him go out on loan, his stats show 1 goal to his name since October I believe, could be our new Wesley! -and the second is dean Sturridge, and many whose career has been built on having seeking pace, now 30 and can still apparently do a lightning dash from his car to the physio's table! -seriously though, if he were a horse he'd have been magically turned into a tube or 2 of glue by now, let's not repeat the mistake the baggies made if you remember, I would say he can jog on, but with his fitness history I'm sure you can figure out what would happen, for what's available, bowen, mitrovic, bent eke or even money plus kodjia, lansbury, targett for morelos from rangers, heck give gabby a trial!

Classof82

1.) 02 Jan 2020 14:07:20
Get real 82, are you really that gullible, its all paper and media garbage.

2.) 02 Jan 2020 15:14:57
You need a reality cheack villa dave 82 is right no good looking for numpty replacements need to dig deep our owners are good people the team is weak need to spend on big players big names were in premier apart from our great manager everything is famous poor old Smith ain't got a big history of name so top top forwards will need extra work but red up of bunch of nobodies coming to villa naughty proven attackers is what's needed sod the cost.

3.) 02 Jan 2020 17:50:19
Lucas Alario for me, if Wes is out then he’s guaranteed a start which is what he’s after, loan to buy, would be the best No9 we’ve had since Carew

UTV.

4.) 02 Jan 2020 18:19:06
I think you have misunderstood my post Mr Gordon.
I was implying that we are being linked with any Donkey that is available at the moment, and he should not take it literally that we are looking to buy them.
I think if you read my posts for the past 5 years or so, you would know that I also like quality, and have posted who my preferences would be.
So in your infinite wisdom, please explain why you think I need a reality check.

31 Dec 2019 06:21:39
So, just seen the link to mitrovic, I hope it happens! -but a bit worried by the link to drinkwater, if he can't get into a Burnley team which is all about graft and team play, then why on earth does deano think he'd be a good fit for us, we're meant to be about pace and quickly moving the ball, drinkwater sure as heck hasn't got any pace, just stick with hourihane etc, as for bringing in a central defender, there's a little whisper about phil Jones on loan, not sure about that, for just pure defending only, I'd take a punt on sol bamba, no nonsense get it done type of defender, getting on but he's a leader and is prepared to go to war every game, but I'm sure deano will sign yet another attacking defender with 'potential', because in our position that's the type of player we need!

Classof82

1.) 31 Dec 2019 09:55:45
I’ve heard that Vida is in Brum, staying at Kallinic’s place

UTV.

2.) 31 Dec 2019 16:11:06
Let's hope he stays there.

Just a quick question to all you crazy folk who support the villa, seeing as we nearly always start slowly and only get into our stride (well, if you can call it that! ) in the second half, would it not be an idea to take a leaf out of the playbook of a very successful manager who had a team with pretty much the same problem as us, so he used to have the team play a little 'gentle' 5 aside game on the morning of the match to get the players 'in the groove', and behold, shock of shocks performances improved dramatically, and funnily enough after a spell of this his teams all of a sudden would start games on their toes, not their heels! now if anyone on here says something about players being over extended and getting injured because of the extra practice, I would say bearing in mind in the championship we played sometimes 2 times a week normally, then surely now only playing 1 game a week shouldn't tax the cherubs that much! just a thought pilgrims.

Missed a load on here last night, out celebrating, so I might be a bit behind.
Just seen your post 82, theoretically sounds good, excuse my ignorance who was this Manager mate?

Daz, I spotted your post down the bottom of the page, about backing the team and Manager, good post and well said mate.

15 Jan 2020 23:31:33
Villa4eva -you might regret you wish to get Slimani, very good player, but really disruptive as well, I'd rather big Ben to be honest, at least with him you know his feelings for the club, but knowing deano -Slimani it is!

Classof82

1.) 16 Jan 2020 09:32:17
I'd love big Ben co82 I think it would work if we played to his strengths same with slimani aswell.

2.) 16 Jan 2020 12:38:00
Defo, that's exactly what lambert and sherwood did and man alive did it pay, but I'm not sure deano is the type of manager to put his arm around a player, but you never know!

3.) 16 Jan 2020 15:38:09
Looks like Mbwana Ally Samatta is on the way.

15 Jan 2020 23:23:30
Just heard Charlie mulgrew has gone back to Blackburn from his loan deal to Wigan, a no nonsense defender who could be a leader with mings in tandem, even if we get him in till the summer I think he could galvanise our defence,

Classof82

1.) 16 Jan 2020 08:51:34
Villa dave,
Another who believes we need an arse kicker.
The movement grows.
Just might polish the boots, my time is coming. HaHa.

2.) 16 Jan 2020 09:34:50
We need about 5 butt kickers in my view, gone are the days of true leaders mellberg, Lauren, Townsend, mgrath, Southgate.

3.) 16 Jan 2020 11:04:48
Yeah Oldvillan, Mings is ok, but halfway house in that department.

14 Jan 2020 04:05:16
I wonder if valverde fancies swapping his paella for a chicken Balti or 2,I think we can afford the naan bread if it swings the deal!

Classof82

1.) 14 Jan 2020 22:15:48
Valverde? Lol
You do realise the only reason he was put in charge at Barcelona was because he’s a front man who has no say and is happy to pretend to be a coach.
I bet he hasn’t made a meaningful decision on the pitch/ player selection/ coaching, I bet he even had to ask Messi when he could go take a number 2! Lol

So how Valverde would be of any help to a team in a relegation fight who need a manager to make decisions is beyond me! He’d be clueless just like he was at Barca.

12 Jan 2020 20:42:06
Sentiment aside, I think the truth is somewhat plain to see, the players don't believe that the manager has the plan to keep us up, if the owners had any more reason to take stock of where we are, then you judge your true level when playing the top teams, yes we have injuries, but that's when your manager shows his true worth by stepping up to the plate, so some will say we need ore time, fair enough, but look where Watford are now, pearson is no rocket scientist, it starts from the back, deano is either very naive or being very cavalier with how we're doing, it feels like another remi garde scenario, we'll play nice football and go down like a stone, let's face it, allardyce may not sit right with most, but I'd bet on him keeping us up, then we can regroup in the summer, time to take our medicine and stop being so arrogant, we've no right to be here, so wake up fellow villains before its too late.

Classof82

1.) 12 Jan 2020 21:55:57
I think Smith's decision making at this level is extremely poor - And that was evident tonight! It's stick or twist time, we either back him or sack him but we need to spend in some key areas as tonight was not good enough!

2.) 13 Jan 2020 07:26:13
The problem is Dean Smith first and foremost, so are most of the players. I've said it before the 4-3-3 tactics just doesn't work in my opinion, it needs to change. Not tomorrow, now. And why use a poor Norwegian 2nd Division goalkeeper instead of Kalinic? I say it again. The manager, the formations and the tactics need to change before it's too late. Now.

Villadave- see how quickly we forget star quality when it's at our fingertips! -personally, I'd stick trezeguet up front, eye for a goal, a bit of trickery and with his pace, I reckon defenders would get caught out resulting in 1 or 2 penalties coming our way, worth a gamble in our predicament I think- there again, who knows what will happen before the window closes!

Come on Villa4eva, no-one on here will give big Sam a chance, even though he helped pioneer player recovery programmes which he brought back from his time in the usa;even though he brought back the idea which was the forerunner to player stats, and of course;as far as I'm aware he was the first British manager to have deal with a changing room of multiple foreign players, their agents and their sometimes bizarre expectations.

AND this he did to a very successful standard, you could say he provided the blueprint for future teams and how they blended both domestic and foreign players together to make it work, but of course he never received the plaudits he deserved for this, you could even say he was the first real 'cultured' British manager, so it makes me laugh when people call him a dinosaur.

what happened at Everton is always brought up, but look what he walked into;a club in trouble and another rescue mission; which he did; yes the football the next season wasn't vintage, but the club was going through a transition, look at Marco silva;spent big and still got the sack for playing dire football, at any club when the old guard don't want to embrace a new idea, the result is always stagnation until they're sold or the get the manager sacked.

remember when big Sam was brought in at Sunderland, and he had jermaine defoe as his only recognised striker, also defoe had an injury remember, and he still masterminded them staying up! -so for those on here who slate big Sam, your talking out of your rectums, his record speaks for itself, it's not a flash in the pan, and if you still call him a dinosaur, then clearly you must dense between your ears.

if deano is turfed out there's probably 1 or 2 other managers who could save us, but Big Sam is definitely the best of them all no doubt, some of you on here smack of arrogance when it comes to keeping us up, smell the coffee, we're in the fight from here on in, get your heads round it, it's happening.

If any of you watch Italian football you'll know callejon is skilled, but moody and apparently is unable to maintain his balance when hit with a feather.

Saint and Greavsie all the way! -if not, then I'd say Big Ben, and possibly a small striker as well, a bit like the way Sunderland had Philips and the other big striker (sorry, forgotten his name), or maybe deano will re-energize Scott hogan to save the day!
