Great to see young Cameron Archer, having a great start at Solihull Moors,2 goals and an assist . Another good prospect .

My lad just shown me, Benrahma second goal tonight, absolute beauty . Nutmegs defender with a back heel, runs round him and bends the ball around the keeper .
Why we haven't followed with our interest I don't know, but he has unbelievable ability.

{Ed002's Note - If there were one more and money can be found, he may be an options. Others will look to him in the coming days.}

Because they wanted too much money. simple.

Just seen Watkins goal, great header . Good build up, cross from the left by Jack, finding Trez on the right, who puts a cracking ball in for Watkins . Brilliant play all round .

Agree Dave great finish keeper no chance he buried it he’s clinical in the 6 yard box he scores quiet a lot of those diving headers, first of many I hope great start for him💪 Credit to trez also for a great delivery, I know it’s only warm up games but great to b winning them, so many years we were getting beat by teams we should be beating, arsenal and Utd scalps is a good start.

2.) 13 Sep 2020 01:14:28
Hello everyone. I'm new here. Dunno how to comment without directly replying, so aplogies! Been lurking for a few weeks and some great opinions in here (and a few shockers! ) . My current thoughts are:

1) I love Guilbert. Cash looks good at tackling, but I worry for his positioning and dribbling skills. I would pick Guilbert over Cash at LB, but I don't trust Cash as a right winger (which isn't why we was bought anyway) so it concerns me that Cash seems to have been brought in as a direct replacement for Guilbert; who I think is excellent and also young and has massive potential.

2) Watkins appears to have fantastic positioning and workrate. I just hope he can score goals when in these positions. Note: I'm at half-time in the Villa v Man Utd game so I haven't seen any of the 2nd half yet.

3.) 13 Sep 2020 11:59:13
Rb, not lb! And sorry I should have put this in banter.

4.) 13 Sep 2020 13:52:29
You have to use the Rumours form for new subjects and the Ed’s decide where to put your posting.

12 Sep 2020 15:21:49
Sorry Jhon Chancellor .

1.) 12 Sep 2020 15:32:29
That came through before my other post . The other post said we are signing the Finnish keeper, supposed to be having a medical. He’s from the same team as reported target, Jhon Chancellor .

2.) 12 Sep 2020 16:05:02
Sorry crossed wires with my son, it’s Martinez 🤪🤪🤪🤪.

3.) 12 Sep 2020 16:33:37
Sorry it is Martinez, crossed wires with my son, my fault completely misheard him . We had been talking about that keeper and Chancellor and mixed the two up .

12 Sep 2020 15:17:18
The Finnish keeper signing, having a medical. From same side as reported interest Jhon Session .

Is this a new keeper?
Are we not getting the Argentinian Martinez after all?

Explain that one, VAR is a crock of S###e . Deano should appeal that sending off .
C.V., no game for Three weeks, Three days training and we put in a performance like that, got to be proud.

1.) 20 Jan 2021 20:05:16
Team superb, Ming's a real star Jon Moss woeful.

2.) 20 Jan 2021 20:15:40
Bang on Pluffy! This is where we support Mings and praise a quality performance!

3.) 20 Jan 2021 20:17:20
As soon as we saw it was John Moss, both my son and myself said ho no . Shows how bad the other refs are, if he hasn’t been retired .

16 Jan 2021 20:02:22
This Morgan Sanson looks a good replacement if Connor goes on loan .
Did you see reports that the Baggies owner, is in talks to sell up .
Onwards&Upwards Villaforever.

1.) 16 Jan 2021 20:54:10
He would be a great signing Dave if we could get him.
Arsenal are sniffing around as well, so a fair bit of interest in him.

2.) 17 Jan 2021 14:18:05
Any reason my reply wasn’t posted here Ed’s?

{Ed002's Note - I have not seen a reply but I can provide an explanation of the situation. Morgan Sanson (CM) PZ is still working with A-C to get the best possible deal for Morgan Sanson - last summer he was offered to Spurs, Chelsea, West Ham and Wolves. Prior interest of Everton left with Silva - but the lady from Marseille says that Carlo Ancelotti has shown interest in the player before and perhaps there will be further contact - but she is not confident. Arsenal were in contact but with Ceballos returning that ended matters. A-C has spoken with Aston Villa on several occasions but they are initially asking for a loan with an option to buy - which is not attractive to l'OM - but something may be possible if it became an obligation to buy or a straight sale where they may get a discount off the €25M asking price. Burnley have also made an enquiry but only want a loan.}

3.) 17 Jan 2021 15:07:24
Cheers Ed, seems like OM want money up front or a guarantee of a set fee, which in the current climate, is fair enough.

My original post was just from a villa point of view, if it comes off, it’s a step in the right direction. If we want to kick on we need to have a full squad of players who can come in and fit the system, in terms of quality and athleticism.

Two players who jump out at the minute to me are Hourihane and Nakamba. I love Hourihane and his contribution to where we have should never be understated, his whole story from League 2, to premier league, scoring and assisting in every league along the way is inspiring. But whilst he 100% has the technical ability, physically he isn’t there, or anywhere near where we need him to be for this system. Replacing him with Sanson, who by all accounts (going off player reviews) sounds like a right footed John McGinn with a bit more attacking wise about him, is a no brainier and a step in the right direction.

Nakamba on the other hand is there is physically, but his technical ability is miles away from where it needs to be.

If we can now start to upgrade these players who are our back ups, injuries and loss of form no longer effects us the way it has at times this season! That’s the direction we need to head in, to kick on and not only establish ourselves as a top half team but also attempt to push to the next level.

{Ed002's Note - Conor Hourihane should be getting a loan and that should give him the opportunity to get more game time but it does appear his chances at Aston Villa are limited. Nakamba is behind Douglas Luiz but I don't know if he will be able to step up if needs be - you would know more about it than me. Sanson is a very good player, versatile and still only in his mid 20s. The lady from Marseille will be back in England over another player today or tomorrow and it may provide an opportunity to try and discuss this further. I am not sure if she will need to quarantine but the plan will be not to stay long if possible. Pini will not be travelling but can still be reached if Aston Villa do want to press ahead.}

4.) 17 Jan 2021 15:19:39
Nice 1 Ed very informative mate👍.

5.) 17 Jan 2021 15:21:24
Wolves will be sick to the bath teeth, they are after him nearly every window the last 3 years!

Looks like we are wanting to improve the whole squad, which is good news as it sets us up to push on to the next level.

I love Hourihane and his role in getting us to where we are, cannot be understated. The whole story is a brilliant advert for British football, made his way from league 2, through the leagues, all the way to the top, scoring goals in every division! But unfortunately, now Deano has the players he needs to play his system at this level, Hourihane just isn’t athletic enough. Technically he’s perfect, but his physical attributes are way off.

On the same note, Nakamba is the opposite, physically he’s perfect, technically no where near what we need.

So someone like Sanson coming in, who looks by all accounts like a right footed french John McGinn, we now have another option within the squad, who fits the system and is up to standard. Suddenly a bench of Wes, Trez/ El Ghazi, Sanson, potentially Ramsey - attacking wise gives us plenty of options!

I bet this FA executive, who is now telling players they can no longer celebrate a goal, has never kicked a ball . we all know the troubled world, we now live in, but surely players, in the same bubble training together, this is going over the top . You can understand shirt swapping, but celebrating a goal . Onwards&Upwards Villaforever.

1.) 17 Jan 2021 01:24:48
Not sure if you're referring to the Richard Masters interview (not seen any F. A execs interviewed) but if so, he's the Chief Exec of the Premiere League, not the FA.
Personally, I think its a perfectly reasonable perspective. At no point has anyone suggested 'not celebrating goals', just that players could set a good example. Most people appreciate there is a specific set of guidelines in place within elite football and the risk is minimal, but we've also seen many players breaking rules and cases rising even within their protective bubble, so why not promote setting a good example to the public and minimise risk (however minimal) where possible to ensure we still get to enjoy the sport?
We need to get past this concept of players not being able to control their emotions. Every other sport (in the main at least) seem to have a much higher level of professionalism when it comes to personal accountability and behaviour. I love football but have no time for people who think it is such a special sport that players should be treated differently to other athletes.

2.) 17 Jan 2021 14:08:41
That`s a very good post DBS, and explained well, agree 100% mate.
Another point, and I know how difficult this is having played the game, and that is spitting, surely it cannot be helping things.

10 Jan 2021 23:50:16
I see Mourhino pushing for Wednesdays game, to go ahead, he must fancy his chances against our kids .

1.) 11 Jan 2021 12:32:29
Now looks like Spurs will be playing Fulham on Wed and not Villa.

10 Jan 2021 15:53:29
Whooops nobody saw that coming . What a great game Crawley played, they absolutely bossed it, from start to finish. Belisie certainly got that one wrong, he was in trouble, even before he made all those subs . Crawley out played Leeds, at their own game, tight defence and all-out attack.
Let's hope Marine can do it to Tottenham.
Onwards&Upwards Villaforever.

1.) 10 Jan 2021 20:34:31
I’d say Leeds are sick over it, pretty strong team fielded also😂😂.

If it’s correct abut Nelsson, then perhaps Engles injury is worse than thought .
Onwards&Upwards Villaforever.

{Ed002's Note - Victor Nelsson (CB) Copenhagen value the youngster at €10M putting off interest from Gent, Celtic and Gronigen. One assumes at the behest of Johan Lange, Aston Villa have made their interest known, as have Union Berlin.}

Should be a good move for him, he reminds me a lot of Andreas Weimenn . Busy player lots of energy and the game time at Burton, will do him good . I wouldn’t think the physical side of their game will faze him, because his time as sub, he certainly put hisself about .

If you can’t have a good manager, get a lucky one . Man U fans themselves have said that Ollie wasn't up to it . At the moment things are certainly going his way, besides all penalties.

Villajohn we where playing Man U, had more penalties than anybody . My mate a Man U fan, has made a fortune this season, just betting on pens . Man U fans have been slagging the Gollum with hair off all season . But as the saying goes, you can’t beat a lucky manager .
Never in a month of Sundays was that a pen, nearly as bad as the one Fernandez got last time .
As Deano said we weren’t at the races first half, much improved second . They where luck to get away with the 3 points, you could see by their players reaction at the end .
Ollie once again, deserved a goal, he hadn’t got anything left in his legs at the end .
According to the Sky commentators we where wasting our time turning up, because Man U where going joint top, before a ball had been kicked. From what I can see, at the people at Sky have a plan, at the start of the season, where everybody will finish up . And we have come along and scuppered it and they don’t like it . Even after what we have done so far, they don’t seem prepared to give us, the credit we deserve.
