According to The Athletic, we've made an approach to sign 19-year-old Spanish winger Jesus Rodriguez from Real Betis. Anyone know anything about him? Given our financial situation, we could probably do with some help from Jesus at the moment ?
15 May 2025 17:41:52
So there's an article on the BBC today saying that there have been no negotiations at all over a permanent transfer for Rashford and that he believes United would be prepared to sell him for £40m to anyone this summer, not just Villa. So that says to me that he's hoping someone else will come in for him. It also says he's got no intention of taking a pay cut from his £325, 000-a-week salary (same amount as Vinicius and Bellingham) so essentially he wants someone to pay £40m for him and then a further £17m a year in wages. I suspect, therefore, that we will see him back permanently warming the bench at Old Trafford next season. Thanks for your efforts Marcus, but for that sort of money I suspect we can do better.

Big headline on the BBC tonight : 'Villa hold talks over De Bruyne move'. Thoughts? ?
1.) 24 Apr 2025 09:32:05
Depends on the deal Menace he will still command a fairly sizeable salary and given we are already breaching the salary cap I don’t see how it’s possible to offer Kamara £300k a week something similar for Rashford and £150k for Asensio our income streams won’t sustain that kind of outlay.
2.) 24 Apr 2025 10:20:25
Kamara not going to be on 300grand a week lol wheres that come from that's insane if true lord? And kdb if he came would be the play maker we been missing would be a statement signing
3.) 24 Apr 2025 10:46:50
We're already wondering how we could possibly afford the full wages of Rashford and Asensio.
KDB is a fair bit older than both of them and spends way more time on the treatment table.
One of the best in the world but we just cannot afford that outlay without massively sacrificing elsewhere.
4.) 24 Apr 2025 12:54:26
VJ apparently £300k is what we have offered Kamara to sign a new long term contract as he enters the last 2 years of his deal. That was reported by a number of outlets a week or so ago.
5.) 24 Apr 2025 17:40:55
Thats crazy i'd put on 200thou but not 300 lord that's mental i know he's our most important player but seems too much for me heyho thou if he signs fair play
17 Nov 2024 11:19:42
Some interesting targets for January. According to the BBC, Unai wants to shore up the Defense with Diego Llorente from Real Betis. Apparently we're also the front-runners to sign attacking midfielder Oihan Sancet from Bilbao, even though he's got an £66.9m release clause.
1.) 24 Nov 2024 20:56:09
Wouldn’t class llorente as an upgrade, never heard of the other guy. I’d love to know how we are fixed financially, how much can we actually spend in January, anyone know?
07 Aug 2024 16:42:38
Brilliant bit of nonsense going on over social media. A Turkish journalist posted on X that Digne was going to Galatasary on loan. Digne swiftly issued a denial wherein the journo posted a screenshot of the letter from Galatasary to Villa outlining the terms of the loan. Perhaps Monchi forgot to tell Lucas something .
1.) 07 Aug 2024 17:22:53
Nobody has to tell Digne anything until the offer is accepted.
Someone forgot to tell the reporter that a letter from Galatasary asking if Digne is available means nothing. There isn't even a guarantee that it was actually sent to Villa, it could easily just be a draft.
2.) 07 Aug 2024 23:31:46
Hands up who wants to keep Digne then? Just flagging up the rumours RK. ?
3.) 08 Aug 2024 08:33:32
Digne is one of our highest earners therefore given we have Maatsen and Moreno who are left backs it makes sense for us to sell him if we can
4.) 10 Aug 2024 18:46:39
I actually thought Digne was one of our better players last year and I would prefer to probably keep him over Moreno (I don’t have anything against Moreno either, just think Digne is better suited to the prem) but I guess if there’s a significant wage difference between them, then I understand why it would be Digne to leave of the pair.
5.) 10 Aug 2024 21:04:29
I agree Nebuchadnezzar, we were at our best in the first part of last season and that was when Moreno was injured, looking at the minutes that have being shared out it looks like matsen and digne will be our left backs, Moreno seems to be the one that more fancies a move aswel.

Anyone got an opinion on the Maccabi Tel Aviv fans situation - preferably one that isn't going to get you banned from this site ?
{Ed001's Note - we really can't get into it, especially as most of what is being shared online is based on propaganda and misinformation. Their fans are vile thugs anyway, they are the most racist and worst for violence in the competition, just be glad they are not there as they could trash the city of Birmingham. Probably improve the place like, but still....?}
1.) 17 Oct 2025 15:19:46
I think a lot of people seem to be missing the point that this is as much for the safety of the Israeli fans as it is for our own.
I'd hate to see the stories if Tommy Robinson organised his bunch of thickos to meet the Tel Aviv Ultras.
{Ed001's Note - Tommy Robinson is funded by Israel.}
2.) 17 Oct 2025 20:10:37
I’ve written to the BBC I think the politicians approach is extremely short sighted, they are asking for a decision based on a risk assessment undertaken by the police to be changed, how can you ask for the decision to be changed without having seen the assessment? I managed risk at a senior level for most of my career and the police will have assessed what level of risk they are prepared to take ie high medium or low and acted accordingly. By all means ask to see the paperwork and critically review the process and if you think the police are risk averse by all means review the decision but to ask for it to be arbitrarily changed is foolhardy and if something happens and god forbid someone is seriously injured then the political classes will be culpable.
3.) 17 Oct 2025 22:12:17
Lotm did you see the Palestine protests down the last home game, imagine the crew they could raise for this game, you would get them from all over the country. Also remember what villas surrounding population, consists of, don’t think you would find many Jewish sympathies there UTV
4.) 18 Oct 2025 07:33:04
This game will be a cesspit of hate generated by the media and by those who will turn up just stir the pot mark my words there will be huge trouble outside the ground by those who are not even connected to the club.What the police and SAG should have done is allow a small minority of Maccabi fans to attend let's say 250 they would have been easily policed and it wouldn't have caused all this rubbish that is being spouted about.Spurs have a huge Jewish following is the same going to happen to them when they come?
{Ed001's Note - it is nothing to do with religion, will people stop spouting this lie! It is about Tel Aviv fans being racist, violent scumbags who attack anything and anyone they see - including other Jews.}
5.) 18 Oct 2025 08:32:30
I totally agree Ed their fans are violent but the fact of the matter is particular groups are using our club to spread hate we are in a predominantly Asian area and from what I've seen and read all types are turning up for this match.Not all fans are hooligans, To stop all this nonsense the Police and Sag could easily have let 250 of their fans come I don't know Season ticket holders family Friends but now this has gone public their will be protests hate and I will say there will be a lot of violence at this match if the Police don't Police it properly.
{Ed001's Note - all of their fans are a problem and have been everywhere they go mate. The only reason they have not been banned from Europe is because they whine about anti-semitism, even though they are too stupid to know what it means and realise that it is nothing to do with Judaism and simply about languages. Oh and that semitic people also includes Arabs, as it is the group who speak Hebrew, Aramaic and Arabic. UEFA are too scared to ban them, even though they shouldn't even be playing in Europe anyway. This should not be an argument, they should be kicked out, and not put Villa fans at risk just to appease a bunch of genocidal maniacs.}
6.) 18 Oct 2025 08:51:09
Again totally agree Ed with regards the majority of their fans but because SAG and the Police have gone public with this instead of allowing a small amount of their fans in it has now stirred up a lot of hate filled propaganda for instance a Muslim group have said they will be attending this match then you have the ones from TR group turning up also for the real fans turning up this is going to be a match that should have been played behind closed doors IMO.Also as you go to VP now on one side you have flags of Palestine being flown then on the other side you have British flags can you imagine on a night like this what on earth is going to happen?
{Ed001's Note - that is not the SAG and police at fault though mate, that is the propaganda pricks in the media and govt who want to stir up trouble.}
7.) 18 Oct 2025 09:06:12
I'm not sure if you seen the video of the local Asian MP of Aston calling for all to turn up to this match to protest against it at the last home match there was some there with huge Palestinian flags for me this is inciting trouble and has stirred it all up and as you rightly said along with the media and the so called politicians this game will be a hate filled game and I'll hazard a guess that their fans all be it a small minority will turn up anyway.I feel sorry for us fans who want to go to watch our club compete in Europe knowing for well on this particular game it will be a game that will be remembered for all the wrong reasons.
{Ed001's Note - it is why the SAG and police wanted them banned. It is for the safety of you and other Villa fans. Though I do fail to see why a Palestine flag is seen as incitement, why should it be an issue? If you go along to a derby match and wave a Villa flag, would it be incitement if you then got attacked by Birmingham fans? No, it wouldn't.}
8.) 18 Oct 2025 09:34:59
Waving a flag of a state that is run by mainly terrorists Ed could incite trouble and has no place in football IMO.Football should be about going with family friends not about politics we all go to games to forget our troubles to forget about politics and war and so on and so forth.I guess what I'm really trying to say is anybody and everyone should be welcome at a football game and as the main motto for football is "Keep racism out of football" but I'm afraid come this match it will be rancid a game full of hate instead of being a game full of Love.And as for the Villa Blues I'm sure if I was to wave a Villa Flag between Blues fans I would either get KO'D or beaten up or visa versa and yes some will say you asked for it for doing so.A great debate Ed and thanks its always great to have a decent debate without any malice intended??
{Ed001's Note - mainly terrorists? You know nothing about what you are talking about. For starters, Hamas was created and is funded by Israel. Israel is a terrorist state, you seem to be fine with accepting their war criminals and genocide though. Palestine is not run by mainly terrorists, unless you are referring to Israel, as it is an occupied nation, where people are routinely tortured and imprisoned without trial, where Israeli guards set trained dogs on them to rape them. The only terrorists there are Israel and anyone saying different is ignorant of what has been happening since WW2. You might want to look into what Israel has done - they were the ones attacking their own to create excuses to kill locals. All those Palestinians that had taken Jewish refugees into their homes after the war came home to find that the Israelis had just changed the locks and used violence to force them out of their own homes. Israel is an apartheid state like South Africa, where racism is normalised, not just against Arabs, but against anyone who is not one of them. They literally banned Christmas in Jerusalem and Christians are spat on in the street and assaulted for wearing a cross. There is a reason why Jews are at the forefront of every protest against Israel mate. If you want to keep racism out of football, you start by banning apartheid states, just like was done to South Africa.
I am lucky enough to live in a building that has Hindus, Sikhs, Jews, Muslims, Christian, Buddhists and some other religions I don't know what they are, all living together. There are only issues in places like Israel, because someone creates issues between them deliberately. There is no history of hate between Muslim and Jew, they co-existed peacefully and happily in the area for hundreds of years. All the division is created by people wanting to grab land. Iran and Iraq have sizable Jewish populations you know, and they have lived there for centuries without issues.}
9.) 18 Oct 2025 09:57:48
As has been said, these fans clearly have a history of creating trouble wherever they go. The burning of the Palestinian flag and the singing of songs praising the IDF and celebrating the atrocities in Gaza was designed to incite trouble in Ajax and sadly succeeded. The SAG should publish the risk assessment so people can judge for themselves the rationale behind the decision. Sadly what I think will happen is political pressure will be ramped up, the decision will be reversed under the guise of a review having taken place.
Sadly I fear it looks like anything that is perceived to adversely impact the Jewish people is deemed ‘anti semitic’ whether it is or not.
{Ed001's Note - spot on mate.}
10.) 18 Oct 2025 10:26:57
Unfortunately Lord, Starmer forced himself into having to take ridiculous actions like this after his recent Farage racism comments.
By going so strong in that interview, he now has to back it up with actions (actually investigating his own party would help) so we could see some more ill informed actions in the near future.
11.) 18 Oct 2025 10:45:10
As I said Ed this is a football match not some propaganda experiment for those not even connected to our club.I don't care about race religion or politics what I do care about is freedom and allowing football fans from all walks of life going to a match knowing they can do so safely but now this has been blown up out of all proportion I doubt this will happen.Mark my words this game as I said will be remembered for all the wrong reasons Politics and War should be kept out of Football, It is not a working man's sport no more it's a sport for those who want to push their narratives.
{Ed001's Note - I agree with you, but that will never happen sadly.}
01 Sep 2025 12:26:35
As United have just agreed to sign Senne Lammens from Antwerp for £18m, does that mean Emi is staying ?
1.) 01 Sep 2025 12:43:43
How is this going to play out? Emery was visibly annoyed about the situation around Martinez yesterday.
Does he cut his nose off to spite his face by keeping him out of the squad or does he move on and pick him next game (if he does stay) .
Does Martinez refuse to play?
I don't see how this is anything but a problem for the club now.
2.) 01 Sep 2025 12:47:54
If he does MD will he throw his dollies out.
3.) 01 Sep 2025 13:00:18
Whatever happens he looks a proper fool once again, thought he could go anywhere he wanted and nobody wants him, the fans won’t forget this and it looks like the dressing room are pretty miffed with him aswel. it’s a mess, what an idiot
30 Aug 2025 22:18:41
I think it's been said numerous times on this site in the past couple of seasons that Jack couldn't go back to being the player he was at Villa, having been ruined by Guardiola thus we were unlikely to want him back. They might want to have a little rethink on that ?
1.) 30 Aug 2025 23:23:20
Did Villa even try to get him back!
25 Jun 2025 14:28:41
Well Davedean82, you were spot on regarding the season ticket waiting list. I got a nice e-mail on Monday telling me that since I had been unwilling/unable to personally attend many games last season and the season before at £75 a pop, I have now been bounced off the waiting list for having no points which is odd as it says Claret Club members get points (I've been one for years) and you get them for attending games (I have been to some). I have replied and pointed this out but it will probably be to no avail as I imagine I will have shuffled off this mortal coil before any season tickets become available anyway
1.) 25 Jun 2025 16:39:49
MD fans have been shabbily treated, an further example, season ticket holders who don't attend a minimum of 14 games this season can not renew their season ticket next season.Yes there are ways to ensure this doesn't happen if you can't attend enough games but I'm sure quite a few will forget, or unfortunate circumstances may pose a problem.
14 Jun 2025 01:14:05
Congratulations to Rachel Daly on her MBE. I know a few on here think the Women's team is superfluous. Good luck then explaining that honour to your granddaughters. Not sure any other Villa player has been subject to a similar honour.
1.) 14 Jun 2025 09:45:09

Yes, but Brest are in the French 2nd tier so why would Bizot be a replacement for Emi? I also suspect that one or two United rejects might be coming our way since apparently, following the Bizot signing, they have formally pitched in for Emi. Perhaps Onana is one of them? Plus they want Ollie so we could end up with Rashford (with his wages cut) and/or Garnacho ?
30 May 2025 00:26:09
Well that makes me feel a lot better. If there are 45k on the season ticket waiting list then, at around about the 2000 mark, I’m in the top 5%. At 66 years old, It gives ‘Villa ‘til I die’ a whole new sense of unlikely optimism ? BTW, if I’d gone to every home match last season, it would have cost me around £1500
23 Aug 2024 08:30:02
Daily Mail says we’ve been offered Sterling so it must be true ? Also says Unai is not sure if he’d fit in with his plans, which I think is pretty much what everyone else on here is saying.
07 Aug 2024 23:31:46
Hands up who wants to keep Digne then? Just flagging up the rumours RK. ?
28 Jul 2024 01:20:42
Sorry Allstar, I initially mistakenly read in your post that you’d been doing a bit of dogging which, up our way on Cannock Chase, is a particularly popular evening pastime - see Stan Collymore for details ?

Well, at least we won’t be up against Brian ‘oh sh*t, that’s where the crossbar is’ Mbuemo ?
28 Aug 2025 00:58:46
In tribute to Grimsby, United got ‘battered’. My Cod, that’s a fin-tastic result if not gill-iant ? Only squidding ?
23 Aug 2025 16:09:12
79% possession and only one shot on target. ?
16 Aug 2025 11:10:30
Well said Daz. However, I’d give it until just after the final whistle against the Geordies today before this site lights up with some serious whinging ? Unless we win by a substantial margin of course ?
13 Aug 2025 22:12:44
Dave. I have an iPhone8+. Worked in IT all my life and that’s all you need. After being laid off last year, I bought a refurbished one (good as new) in February for £200 and, unless you’re desperate to be a millennial, you don’t need to spend any more. Get the handset and then get a Vodafone simple contract, which should be about a tenner a month
