There is a rumour circulating that we are still interested in Marc Roca from Espanyol, though I struggle to see how we accommodate another central midfielder, especially now we've signed Barkley 🤔.

Yeah I have seen this more than once MD, I think the only thing behind it, might have something to do with the interest being shown in Nakamba.
If that happens we will need cover, so maybe we are in fact thinking of moving Marvelous out.

2.) 02 Oct 2020 17:20:36
Would you let Nakamba go Dave? I like him, he’s always give it his all and I think he could develop into a realy good player, not sure I’d let him go! There’s definitely others I’d like to see go before him mate.

3.) 02 Oct 2020 18:13:58
I have seen a video on-line today where Smith refutes this link.

4.) 02 Oct 2020 18:27:15
81 Nakamba is very good at breaking play up and has energy I'll give him that and can obviously do a job winning the ball but, to me anyway, he's so predominantly left footed that he has to turn full circle to get to release the ball if it's on his weaker side. It happens so slowly its almost like watching an oil tanker turn and is a weakness that can be exploited, hence why he loses the ball as much as he wins it.

5.) 02 Oct 2020 18:30:13
I like him as well 81, that`s a tough one mate.
I totally agree with your take on it.

6.) 02 Oct 2020 19:05:52
I get your point Moose, I spend hours with my Son and Son in law talking about left or right footed players.
That affects a lot of players, when I played we were trained on both feet, and the best team I ever played for, every player including the keeper could use both feet.
Even Jack is week on his left foot, Traore his right, Luiz his left, the list goes on and on.

7.) 02 Oct 2020 19:26:11
I think for now he's adequate cover and maybe Shakespeare can coach him to improve Dave, but hopefully, as we get better and better a higher quality of DM will be brought in or develop in the youth ranks. However our centre half, left back and striker cover is thin to say the least and should be a priority if we have the funds. Hoping that adding Barkley to Luiz and McGinn in the middle of the park may give Targett some better cover, oh and he stops ball watching instead of keeping an eye on his man.

El Ghazi Off to Olympiakos say some reports. Shame imo, but he'll be behind Trezeguet in the pecking order and, at 25, will want regular first-team games.

1.) 26 Sep 2020 19:28:08
Nottingham Forest have also been mentioned.

I am not convinced he is consistent enough for the Premier League, but we really need a replacement before letting him go.

Smith has suggested possibly one more in and two out. I would have thought one of the leavers would be a goalie, but El Ghazi could be the other.

At the end of the day, the selection of departures is goinfg to be driven by the buyer interest. That could well mean we might well not move on our preferred first choices. One or two we might rather to go now could well end up running the final year of their contracts down.

2.) 26 Sep 2020 21:11:19
I will always thank him for the goal he got to get us up villa legend just for that!

3.) 26 Sep 2020 21:12:49
Given space and time el ghazi has a cutting edge. Unfortunately you don't get that in the prem.

4.) 27 Sep 2020 12:34:30
I'm sure given enough time and space, even I can put a few decent balls in the box even at my age. Mind you ref might blow for half time whilst I'm steadying myself 😂😂😂.

5.) 27 Sep 2020 13:31:41
Agree walkies. Our fans do forget too easily sometimes. We wouldn't be where we are if not for him.
Obviously have to replace once you have better quality but don't be a douche about it.

El ghazi should be applauded out to a new challenge. Trez can be a headless chicken sometimes but his goals kept us up so he should get the same when the time comes.

Samatta off on loan to Fenerbahce by the sounds of it. Risky imo given that Wesley won't be fit until January. Perhaps this heralds the arrival of another striker? 🤞.

Not according to his father.

Congrats to the Women's team on getting promoted to the WSL and coming up from the Championship just a year after the boys. Just a shame the men's team can't swap positions with Liverpool as the ladies are about to do!

Here's hoping Jack is not picked to play tomorrow. We need him fit and raring to go for the Brighton game rather than risked in a tournament that we're already out of. That said, I guess if he wants to be an England regular, he's got to be prepared to play in any international fixture.

MenaceDortimer

1.) 17 Nov 2020 10:22:02
I hope he does Menace, another MOM performance, ups his profile, adds a few more million to his price tag and pushes him further away from what other clubs think he's worth.

2.) 17 Nov 2020 14:35:46
Totally agree MD, rather have a fit player mate.

15 Nov 2020 22:27:08
Quite an extraordinary post match on Sky. So far, a 45 minute dedicated love-in for Jack. Ashley Cole, Jamie Redknapp, even Southgate praising him up to the hilt. God knows what it would have been like if we'd won ⚽️.

1.) 15 Nov 2020 22:30:17
I liked Cole’s comment when asked “was there any positives for England? ”, “yes, Jack Grealish”😂.

I assume most of you will have seen this - top 10 players of the season so far as voted by BBC Sport readers. Players in every category for us 🦁

MenaceDortimer

01 Nov 2020 23:32:11
Two ways of looking at where we are now:

1. If we win our game in hand we'll go top
2. We started off punching well above our weight and we're now finding our level.

We don't yet have hundreds of millions of pounds worth of players on the books, so we can only play with what we have. Keep the faith Villains. We're not in Burnley or Fulham's position 🦁.

MenaceDortimer

1.) 02 Nov 2020 07:29:18
We wouldn’t go top mate we’d go second. Which I’d still take every day of the week and twice on a Sunday😂.

2.) 02 Nov 2020 08:22:36
MD you're quite right. I think there may be a bit of complacency creeping in after the first four games where players thought they couldn't be dropped. That's down to the fact that we aren't blessed with great depth to the squad. Players need to believe that so and someones ready to take their place. I'm afraid to say that messers Mings, McGinn and Luis top that pile. For the Arsenal game I'd change Mings with Engels, and bring in Hourahane and or Ramsey/ Nakamba.

3.) 02 Nov 2020 09:52:53
Your nuts if you’d let engles anywhere near the starting 11 he’s a donkey and to make things worse he hasn’t played in months so add rusty to his inability to play at premier league lvl against auba of all strikers and a quiet talented arsenal midfield, I would give Conor a chance instead of maginn he hasn’t performed in the last 2 games.

4.) 02 Nov 2020 10:00:20
I think Barkley has upset the defensive balance slightly. He's definitely given us something extra going forwards but somehow he does even less defensively than Hourihane who at least tries to get stuck in.

5.) 02 Nov 2020 17:55:31
Whack i'd be nuts if I thought mings was outstanding. He can't win headers, can't mark at corners and stays on the ground for free kicks. And you say engels is a donkey.

6.) 02 Nov 2020 18:49:23
Agree SV.

Clucking Bell. The Dingles have gone above us, Although we have got 2 games in hand. As many others would say VTID, UTV, FTA etc.

I’d say that might have some credibility. Suddenly Kevin De Bruyne is Jacks biggest fan. Could be he’s looking to woo him over to City.

Did I miss something, or didn't McGinn score a cracking goal after 48 seconds in the last game, only to have it disallowed by the Stockley Park Muppet Show?

The rumour on Rashika is still kicking around from various sources. I've just been on flightradar24 and was getting quite excited tracking a private jet coming in from Bremen. Sadly it looks to be heading for somewhere in the south-east.

Mind you, Barkley was on the bench for Chelski the night before he was announced as a Villa player 😀.

I think my outside punt back in the summer that we should have signed Ivan Toney from Peterborough looks like it might have had some legs - another Platt 3rd to 1st tier signing although, in fairness, he could have been a bench sitter which he wouldn’t have wanted.

Good memories VD. We used To go to the same old caravan site in Wales every summer for our holidays in the 60’s. Tony Hately and his family used to come down too for at least a couple of weeks - obviously in a much better caravan - the ‘ lads and dads’ footie Match was a foregone conclusion even with Mark being 9 like me. I think Tony was earning just a bit more than my Dad then who was an engineer. Different times 😕.

OK. Let’s let up on Scottie. I was just hoping you’d cheer up a bit mate for your own sake. Believe me mate, this has been my family club since 1900 when my great uncle was on the board and his role was taken over by Howard Spencer when he died. I feel every loss as much as anyone but at my age I’ve had to tolerate every possible up and down from the lows of the third division to the high of 82. Remember when it was £2.50 to stand on the Holt and watch Dennis Mortimer score against the Scousers when we won the league. Chin up mate.

I don’t disagree Johnny, as long as we learn from the woeful exposure to the Leeds wingers. I assume scotcaffu will have finally have topped himself by now otherwise, come on Scott, lighten up or else get some help. This is the banter site - I don’t recall you posting any humorous or ‘banter’ comment on here ever. Just worryingly depressing comments. Sorry if I have misinterpreted you, but that’s how it seems to me. No wonder Flackie f****d off.
