Hope I am wrong but my gut feeling is the sale of Jack is financing the latest three reported signings from Arsenal, Leon, Weder bremen, I think the friendly against man u yesterday was part of any deal, again hope I am a million miles off the mark, but the money has to come from somewhere, just ask the eds.

scotcaffu

{Ed002's Note - The money can potentially come from selling him at the end of the season - but it does have to come from somewhere.}

1.) 13 Sep 2020 20:40:39
Last year it was tv money according to pursey purslow. whos to say we aren’t dipping into to that again the owners seem to be prepared to spend to get somewhere and make profit later when were in the champions league every year 😂 jacky isn't going anywhere soon 👊🏻.

2.) 13 Sep 2020 20:45:56
Utd won’t stump up the cash for jack, after buying donny, they have pogba Bruno and greenwood, jack not stupid he won’t go somewhere to warm the bench he can’t get picked ahead of greenwood for England, if he moves I don’t think it will b to United.

3.) 14 Sep 2020 00:34:06
Crossed my mind, scotcaffu.

The only thing making me feel otherwise is no midfield signings (so far) by Villa.

United seem worried. Raised expectations with the Sancho saga and need to save face. Mind you, £80M in the current climate is a lot to stump up for a single player.

I am surprised we have potentially spent what we have, but assume it is due to the easing off on FFP rules with the two year assessment that has led to us being so heavily active.

If I was being devil’s advocate, I suppose United could be offering a midfielder plus cash for Jackie boy. Would be very upset if the clown boy, Lingard, was part of any deal.

4.) 14 Sep 2020 10:35:28
Jacks gona sign a new deal jacks dad said last night.

5.) 14 Sep 2020 10:51:32
AJ I think Utd might go for Jack if the Sancho deal falls through. If that does happen then as I have said previously we need to take a leaf out of the Brentford book and play hard ball over the fee, so for me the only Utd player that I would accept, guy y and they are likely to release is Tuanzebe I would then try to secure someone like Barkley, Loftus Cheek, or Sigurdsson as a replacement or maybe even two of the above. The other thing is if we get to the last week of the window and nothing has happened then whether Utd offer us what we want they need to be told to bugger off because it won’t give us enough time to sort out replacements and integrate them into the first team squad. Interesting times!

Just read 002 is a lady.

Does her obsession with FFP and slapping us boys down at every opportunity mean she is a Femme Fatale Poster.

scotcaffu

{Ed002's Note - It is hardly an obsession with FFP, it is a simple statement of fact that AV have the opportunity to resolve their issue whilst many of the supporters are of the opinion that they can ignore FFP and that the owners will spend as much as they want.}

1.) 06 Aug 2020 18:34:25
Come on Ed, break down this wall with us, it feels like you are a bit harsh on us at times.
You have to admit mate, your strict approach to us over FFP needs a bit of humour at times, and I reckon you have a crafty smile to yourself over it, am I right 😁.

{Ed002's Note - I do have a smile Dave - but I think it may just be wind.}

2.) 06 Aug 2020 19:27:46
That`s better Ed, have some gripe water mate, with gin works wonders.

3.) 06 Aug 2020 19:57:46
Ed we are Aston Villa, "we spend what we want"

4.) 06 Aug 2020 20:25:59
Hahaha, love it scottie,

5.) 06 Aug 2020 23:06:24
Dave I'm on a mission to win Ed 002 round, I will try humour, science my financial incompetence and get to the point that ffp will never be mentioned on here ever again. You do the charm offensive and I'll do the wind up.

6.) 07 Aug 2020 11:34:29
Ok Scotty, I feel the deed is done mate, what about you.
I bet he is smiling as he is posting this. 😁.

{Ed002's Note - Much will depend on departures but a CB, an CM/AM/LW (if Grealish were to depart), and a S are key. A versatile DM/CM will also be required if Douglas Luiz leaves.
Possible notable departures:
Jack Grealish (CM/AM) right now the club are for now pricing him out of a move and the interest of Manchester United is drifting away.
Douglas Luiz (DM/CM) but Manchester City have the option to buy him back if Aston Villa put him up for sale - which I doubt they would
Carney Chukwuemeka (CM/AM) only a kiddie but another who might make an early breakthrough like Jude Bellingham has done at Birmingham. Aston Villa will do all they can to keep him and know that he has been watched in Under 18 games by scouts representing many Premier League teams and at least one German side. Aston Villa can expect an approach from both Manchester clubs, Leicester and Liverpool before long.
Wesley (S) will leave if an opportunity arises.
Scott Hogan (S) an upgrade is needed.

In terms of what the club has been looking at:
(CB) I am not aware of any targets and if Kortney Hause is available the issue could go away.
Baptiste Santamaria (DM) Angers will not look to let him leave on the cheap having rejected offers from Aston Villa and Bordeaux last summer so they have a price at around €20M - but critically they want a cash, or near all cash sale. Angers have shared Leicester, Aston Villa, Napoli, Atalanta, Villareal, Spurs, Fiorentina, Sevilla, Everton and West Ham have all sent scouts to watch him this season. Additionally, the interest of Lille and Lyon is well understood. He will certainly be sold this coming summer but there is a side issue that might make a move to England a little difficult – but I expect Spurs to push.
Christian Luyindama (DM/CB) Aston Villa could be priced out of the market for him. Wolves are keen and Galatasaray don't want to sell. Has just recovered from serious knee injury but it has not stopped interest of Everton.
John Swift (CM) Reading's CM player has been recommended to AV.
Morgan Sanson (CM) beyond very unlikely but an enquiry made by Aston Villa.
Ben Chrisene (CM) this should go ahead – a kiddie but a great deal is expected of him.
Ollie Watkins (S) Leeds and Aston Villa have declared and interest with Brentford – who may look to an auction if more interest arises – and it might with Crystal Palace.
Michy Batshuayi (S) AV asked about a loan but Chelsea want to sell - very unlikely.
Kelechi Iheanacho (S) Perhaps a wildcard option.
Alfredo Morelos (S) Although Rangers don't want to sell, there have been enquiries for Morelos from Aston Villa and Crystal Palace (way down their list). Very unlikely and I suspect heading to Lille.
Said Benrahma (LW/S/F) Brentford are looking for £25M with Palace, Spurs, Leicester, Aston Villa, Newcastle and West Ham showing an interest - the question will remain can he step up.
Serhou Guirassy (S) makes little sense but Aston Villa has taken a look as have West Ham, Brighton, Bournemouth, Rennes, Arsenal and Spurs who have had the player offered to them. Amiens want some of those nice English pounds and no English clubs will pay over the odds.
Vedat Muriqi (S) heading elsewhere, but looked at by AV.

7.) 07 Aug 2020 15:44:36
Thank you for that Ed, very comprehensive mate, and a lot to digest.
As being reported at the moment, it appears Wesley is drawing some interest at 13m, is there any substance to this Ed.
It seems a bit strange as he has not kicked a ball in anger since his knee injury.

{Ed002's Note - I suspect there is - there are a couple of sides (Lazio and Hertha Berlin) who think they can get more out of him.}

8.) 07 Aug 2020 16:14:44
Well maybe a couple more million and we should let him go.

22 Jun 2020 13:03:48
Slept on my frustration and this morning I still feel as disappointed and frustrated. I accept this is pretty typical now and we are going down with a whimper. I would imagine we will cash in on Jack mcginn and Heaton, who are the only three that will get in a premier league side. The rest are ready for the struggle at the top of the championship. The owners backed Smith and it didn't work out. There have been far more successful managers who have been sacked so I struggle to see how people are still backing him. The last two games have shown how predictable we are and I can't see anything changing. So we will be back where we deserve to be along with Norwich and Bournemouth. The only difference we have spent a fortune and got no return on the investment this equates to failure in any walk of life. I will renew my season ticket because Villa are in my blood, I just wish some of the over paid overrated bunch of players cared as much.

1.) 22 Jun 2020 16:49:25
And me Scotty, woke up with a bloody headache, the sky was full of rain, and the wife wanted me to clean the windows, inside of course.
That`s what being a Villa fan is mate.

17 Jun 2020 21:10:47
I'm sure most are watching the man City arsenal game, I just heard David Luiz is out of contract, he would be perfect for our defense, guaranteed to gift defensive error goals, silly me we have enough already that can do that.

scotcaffu

{Ed002's Note - Sorry, that won’t be happening.}

1.) 18 Jun 2020 11:51:43
Irony mate, not a suggestion.

08 Apr 2020 22:15:24
Just read that should the season start again and if Wes or Heaton are fit they wouldn't be able to play as our 25 registered players as of Feb still apply and Smith, for obvious reasons deregistered them, anyone know if this is correct.

scotcaffu

1.) 09 Apr 2020 09:47:09
I read that too Scotty, but apparently there’s a possibility that ruling could be relaxed, let’s hope so anyway.

2.) 11 Apr 2020 20:09:36
The same bloke asked me what my date of berth is, I said 15th January he said what year, I said every year.

Just remember what the last quality Chelsea loan did for us, his goals got us back to the prem league let's hope Ross pushes us to new levels.

I guess you aren't talking about Drinkwater :D :D :D.

2.) 30 Sep 2020 14:25:26
Goals is the giveaway mate.

30 Sep 2020 11:29:54
I think this is a stellar signing, he definitely has class, I think this is going to enhance Jack's game with quality by his side and take some of the pressure off him. I'm sure if he shows his class this will help his claim to a regular england spot. Well done Villa and probably JT has used his relationship with Chelsea. If we can get centre back and left back cover I think we will be satisfied this transfer window may be beeing a tad gready another quality forward would be the icing. But let's not get too gready.

scotcaffu

1.) 30 Sep 2020 14:13:01
I still want Benrahma in - and although I know nothing about Nelsson, I think another CB would be good.

I'd also play Trez as out and out striker when Watkins not playing. Trez was the best finisher we had last year, he got int he right places a lot last year and that was from the wing, for me he is worth a crack at striker. Then Wesley fit from January to see what he can do. I think that will get us through this year.

2.) 30 Sep 2020 14:59:48
Yep scot lb or cb is the essential for me. We have enough upfront when wes is fit ok no recognised left winger but plenty to fill in the position but targett needs pushing for his place and the cb cover we have probably isn't strong enough take axel on loan again please 👐🏻.

I have read with interest all of the mixed views on tonight's game and generally they are a fair balanced response to what was a welcomed victory. There were certainly far more positives than negatives. Its only right that people have this forum to comment on things as they see them. One thing I find annoying is that there are a small minority and both they and us know who the are have to resort to insults with comments they don't agree with. By all means have your say but leave out your barbed comments. It serves no purpose and belittles any valid point you have. We all want the best for our team and often see things differently but to be put down because the view is not want blinkered fans want to here. We have played possibly the worst two teams in the league one fortunately against ten men and the other who defend at the same level as a poor championship side, so let's enjoy the start but let's not get carried away. Sunday is a free hit we are not expected to get anything so whatever the result a good performance is important to keep the momentum going. So finally if you can't say anything constructive if there is something you don't agree with, most of us would benefit if you say nothing.

See where it says banter at the top, by definition that is:

the playful and friendly exchange of teasing remarks”

It’s not that deep.

2.) 29 Sep 2020 09:47:05
I bet you’re fun at parties. 😉😜

UTV.

3.) 29 Sep 2020 10:26:32
Scotcafu let's put things into perspective for you. We are now unbeaten in 6 yes 6 PL games. We have won our first 2 games and In my opinion quite convincingly too, You can only beat what's in front of you its 11 v 11 anything can happen.
For many many years we have had to struggle as a club and fans to get to grips with mismanagement and no funding building our club again from the beginning.
We stayed up by the skin of our teeth last season and in doing so has reaped its benefits already with the investment of our youth system and 1st team. Now I'm not saying we are doing to be world beaters but you can now see the battle in our players the desire to throw bodies on the line goes to show how far we have come in such a short space of time and even the owners have admitted that we are ahead of where they thought we would be.
We as a club and I would say 3 maybe 4 years behind the Like's of Everton and even Crystal Palace to that matter with regards wages and infrastructure you look at Liverpool for example its tool them 10 years or more to build a great team champions infact and I would say we are 10 years behind them maybe more.
So for you too keep on finding negatives with this club and players is bewildering and this is why people have a little dig. As for the tinted glasses mate may I suggest you take your Ray Bans off and look at the bugger picture as is what is happening at OUR great club.
I'm going to use Wolves as a example their club and fans are now at a all time high and I for 1 applaud them for that they stuck by their team I mean let's be honest here would you have put good money on them beating West Ham because I did along with Bayern Munich and they both got stuffed so Scot let's enjoy the moment because it's been a long time coming and you never know you might just praise the club and players for doing a job which I think is being WELL DONE keep the faith fell.

4.) 29 Sep 2020 10:42:29
Well said. Those with a little more experience and understanding of the game don't get too carried away when they win or too down when they lose.

5.) 29 Sep 2020 11:34:39
Certainly flushed out the characters I referred to.

6.) 29 Sep 2020 12:18:04
Glad you weren’t talking about me muck😉.

7.) 29 Sep 2020 14:32:26
If the cap fits 😊.

8.) 29 Sep 2020 17:43:08

28 Sep 2020 18:50:03
A bit too sloppy at times for me, we should not be being totally out passed by a team like Fulham, I hope Deano as had a stern word at half time.

scotcaffu

1.) 28 Sep 2020 19:08:58
Ffs stop the crosses.

2.) 28 Sep 2020 19:19:38
I do see your point scotty Fulham have place around with it nicely at times but they haven’t really opened us up with any of that passing, I’m happy to see us being clinical with our chances, we will need that aspect against to bigger teams.

3.) 28 Sep 2020 19:48:03
You must be so fun at parties mate.

4.) 28 Sep 2020 19:54:44
A bit sloppy and lucky.
On another night we could have shipped a few goals.
Took the goals well which is a vast improvement on last season.
3 pts, 3 goals and none in our net.
Konsa looking better every game. Mings as usual getting into the right place.
Jack missed a few chances but hayho there we go
P 2, W 2.
Great.

5.) 28 Sep 2020 19:59:10
If we look at today’s performance a lot more positive than against Sheff Utd, we created a lot more moved the ball much more quickly, McGinn was much more like his old self, Konsa and Mings secure at the back and Watkins worked hard and I am sure it won’t be too long before he finds the back of the net in the premiership. However any team playing against us will know where to attack us and that’s down our left Targett is just not good enough and he is never close enough to his winger to stop the crosses. Funnily enough although Fulham lost 0-3 and looked a mess defensively I thought Joe Bryan looked decent at left back good in the tackle and decent moving forward I know he turned us down previously but I wouldn’t be averse to him replacing Targett although I know it won’t happen this window.
Returning to tonight’s game a definite improvement over the Sheff Utd game.

6.) 28 Sep 2020 20:06:33
Catv, I put my life savings I'd be far more fun than you, honest views have every right to be on here without sarcasm.

7.) 28 Sep 2020 20:07:24
3-0 win, sloppy and lucky😂😂😂😂.

8.) 28 Sep 2020 20:11:44
Little bit dramatic, your 50p ent getting you far😉😂.

9.) 28 Sep 2020 20:53:26
I'm either way on Targett tonight. He had to be careful because of the yellow so he did what he reasonably could within the bounds of not getting sent off.
That being said, there was no reason to get the yellow. In their half, far enough away to pull out of the challenge, utterly stupid.

I personally would have thrown Taylor on at half time to maintain a level of defensive commitment but we didn't really need it.
While he hasn't scored yet in the league, Watkins is already proving a bargain. His all round game is exemplary. Not the tallest yet the ball just sticks to him like glue.

24 Sep 2020 21:07:16
Like lots I paid a tenner to watch tonight's game, it was a comfortable evening against a very much weakened Bristol side. I didn't see that much to excite me despite 11 players trying to prove that are good enough for a premier league start, not a chance apart from traore. When Watkins came on he looked the only bit of class on the field which is good for us in the premier league. Traore will take time to settle I just hope he is not a Trez, ELGHAZI, Bolaise, time will tell. What did I expect, exactly what we got second string players doing what they do best play second fiddle and that's where I see the problems we don't have quality in depth. So while some of you are spitting blood, tell me anything I have said that is way off the mark. I like the look of our potential starting eleven on Monday but I really worry about our options off the bench, you can't rely on just the best eleven, you need a minimum of a good fifteen and we just don't have it.

scotcaffu

1.) 24 Sep 2020 21:48:47
Sometimes the glass can be half full you know.

2.) 24 Sep 2020 22:03:28
Scotty, with all due respect mate, what else could they have done.
The beat what was in front of them, and beat them well.
I thought it was a very relaxed, and assured performance, apart from Taylor and El Ghazi.

3.) 24 Sep 2020 22:07:31
3 nil win away from home from our second string team, can’t ask for that much more, 11 subs won’t have to play by themselves, max 3 of them get a run with our better players, Man city and man united second team all struggled, I think more optimism and positivity needed mate, we have 4 new players all look better than what we had last year and most likely will add another couple before window closes, if anyone said today we would have a comfortable 3 nil win tonight we all would of said “sure I’d take that” our second string last year was awful we are improving.

4.) 24 Sep 2020 22:17:58
Dave I agree, however tonight will not either define or decide our season, I am merely looking at our future in the premier league and let's not get carried away playing a second string average championship side like Bristol. Just remember Taylor and Elghazi, who have both been critized by a number on here after further poor performances and that's my whole point, these are our back up and as I see it, like other weak players will continue to be so until we get some quality back up.

5.) 24 Sep 2020 22:42:36
Scotty, I can see your point and concerns mate, but I think we are and will be a different proposition this season, so a bit of patience is needed.
I am looking forward to the season very much, and I think we are going to surprise a few teams.

6.) 24 Sep 2020 23:07:12
Dave I sincerely hope you are right, and I also am looking forward to the season, but I can't yet watch the through claret tinted glasses.

7.) 25 Sep 2020 13:12:36
First away clean sheet in over a year against a previously unbeaten Championship team, with Elmo (looking like a natural) at centre back.

I think there were loads of positives: Steer, Elmo, Freddie, (for the most part) Hause. Lansbury was excellent. Marvelous was solid. Ramsey looks class. Traore is clearly a very, VERY good footballer. Davis has arguably his best game. If Anwar could finish, that game finishes 7 or 8 nil.

Then you’ve got Trez and Watkins, who come on and combine for a goal straightaway.

It’s ‘only’ Bristol City, but that was such an assured and composed performance from our second string, I took lots of heart from it myself.

Ally I don't think you could even describe it as kicking. Bosssie and yorkie were both legends on and off the field (lock up your daughters) sadly if bossie was just starting off he wouldn't even get a game, you have to be a sweeper these days and bossie didn't have that ability with his dire kicking and distribution .
