Quote from a knowledgeable BBC sport journalist."While PSR may be limiting the club's ability to spend, tying down the core of the squad is arguably more important than signing the next £100m player".
Couldn't agree more.

I genuinely now think the quicker we get rid of Emery the better and he can take all the new signings with him.Football is dire tactics inept every team find us so easy to play against and yet Emery does nothing, boring predictable football equals failure.

Something isn't right recruitment and player sales so off signing players and not playing them or loaning them out is nuts sign them to play them or don't sign at all, Enzo and kosta should be in and around this squad easy

2.) 18 Sep 2025 13:36:41
So Scot who would you replace him with?

3.) 18 Sep 2025 23:51:37

We have a team full of internationals, most of which were top performers for their national teams this week, is it our coach and style of play that stifles them? I am definitely leaning towards that view.

With the Europa on Thursdays and Sky fixture changes looks like we are going to play an awful lot of Sunday games, unfortunately I'm old school and have always loved my Saturday afternoon football, of course we have to adapt to change, however I have other interests that I enjoy on Sunday, so I'm really disappointed with too many Sunday games.

There are other non European playing teams that play mostly on a Saturday Scot if your intrested just a thought??

Everyone knows someone's neighbour, aunt, brother cousin who can tell you about the inner workings of players details usually these are rubbish. I have just been told from what I know is a reliable source, that Ramsey's family are not happy with the way Jacob has been treated. They are saying that he has been given little choice in remaining at the Villa. Villa seemed to have been clever by offering him a new contract, his wages were in the mid range at £70,000, the increase offered would have left him still well below most of the top earners. I am speculating that he may have been told that he wouldn't be a regular starter and it all seems to add up that his future wasn't at Villa and obviously the transfer fee helps with our PSR. I can not know if what I was told is totally genuine, however it all adds up to the final outcome that he's going and I'm sure he's not happy. I personally wish Jacob all the best and hope his carer flourishes in the future as long it doesn't come back to bite us, I'm sure he has the right to gloat if it does.

I hear what your saying Scot but it’s a 2 sided coin, if he hadn’t had those injuries and had 2 storming seasons instead and city or Liverpool etc came calling I wonder would he still want to stay at villa or would he do exactly what Delph or grealish done?
I wish him nothing but the best but no matter who he is or how long he’s being here he’s not more important than sustaining the upward trajectory we find ourselves in the past few years.

2.) 15 Aug 2025 08:31:14
If we're honest, is he anywhere near a £100k+ a week player?
His camp can feel hard done by all they like but he hasn't earned more than offered.
He hasn't been fit for 2 years and by his own admission he hasn't made progress so why does he deserve to be paid more.
He is not a top player like Ollie or Emi and his work off the pitch doesn't hold a candle to Digne or SJM.
To be honest, I won't miss him like a Milner or a Grealish. He's not special and just comes across pretty poorly in a lot of clips I've seen.

3.) 15 Aug 2025 18:35:43
I wish Ramsey all the best also but for me when he was on the coach when we was all welcoming Villa to VP when he said "Bloody hell it's only the Conference" Put a bit of a cloud over him for me.

4.) 15 Aug 2025 18:49:09
Daz you are 100% I was only thinking the same thing yesterday, it was a huge day for us and for a villa boy he was very blasé about it, yes it was only the conference league but it was a stepping stone and also an emotional day for most villa fans who went through the heartache of relegation. not saying he’s a bad lad but most of these football players are motivated by money and not glory like the old days

5.) 15 Aug 2025 19:43:35
Whack, is he a Villa boy? Not that it matters.
The physio will be a lot less busy with Ramsey and Bailey going (if he does) . Not their fault but some players are held back by injuries.

I sign up at great expense to follow my team and yes through thick and thin, however I don't think what was served up Thursday and today is any where near value for money, the excitement has disappeared recently. People say a win is a win, you can't argue with that however football is an entertainment industry and personally I'm definitely not being entertained, I might be on my own but I genuinely think things were much better in Emery's early days.

Wolves could have quite easily won the game today unless Emy was at his best.So if the majority on here are happy just to look at the league table that's their choice, sadly I want exciting football.

1.) 30 Nov 2025 16:35:00
Fair comments. Today's performance was a grind. Local derbies can often play out like that. We did look flat and huffed and puffed without much end product. That said, we won, and there have been numerous games in recent seasons (Utd 0-0 at home last year, also the 1-1 vs ten man Ipswich) where we didn't take three points from this sort of game. Today we did. If you can't win pretty, win ugly.

I think we played some decent stuff on Thursday. Our issue is plain to see, we're missing a striker who can finish off chances within 18 yards of goal. We have that striker in Watkins but it isn't working out at the moment.hence why the Jan window is important to us.what loan magic can we come up with. Thursday went flat when we took Youri, Malen and Rogers off as they were ripping YB apart at will.

The gold standard this season, in my opinion, was Bournemouth at home. I'd love to see us play like that every match. But when we don't, I just want us to win.

2.) 30 Nov 2025 16:54:45
You have never once praised the team when they've lost, regardless of the circumstances. Stop pretending like you would be happy with us getting draws or 3-2 losses because we played exciting football. Tell us how your reacted to the 5-5 draw with Forest in the Championship (doesn't get more exciting a game than that) .

If it's impossible to make you happy without getting both every week then I'd at least rather get the win. It's easier to find games of enjoyable football from a team that knows how to win. Teams like Brighton, Bournemouth and Palace go through some god awful spells when they stop getting results but you don't see that every week.

3.) 30 Nov 2025 19:13:39
Here’s a question for you Scotty would you settle for a less entertaining brand of football which qualified us for European football regularly or more entertainment but mid table finishes?

4.) 01 Dec 2025 10:58:57
I would never settle for less entertaining football and why can't we have both, it's amazing what some fans will settle for, next people will be telling me me remember the third division and championship times. Things have moved on, we have had money, we have a top class coach and quality international players, it's not unreasonable to expect regular exciting football .

As I said if fans are happy to look at the league table no matter what is being served up they are fully entitled to their views it's not the way I look at football, unfortunately I respect others views but am not afforded the same courtesy by some on hear.

5.) 01 Dec 2025 13:05:29
I’m torn on this one scotty, I’m not overly impressed with the performances but delighted with the results, I do think we need to create more chances which might improve Watkins confidence, that said I think we might have to suck it up for a season or 2 while we get established as a regular European side, hopefully finances improve over the next season or 2 and we can attract 2 or 3 more top quality players, some tough games coming between here and the new year, teams that will come at us like Bournemouth did and that in turn will create space, these teams that just sit back and defend seem to be the teams we struggle against so I’m expecting some big performances in the next 5 or 6 games.

Emerys favourite word is consistency and at the minute that’s exactly what the players are delivering so I find it hard to complain (too much) .

6.) 01 Dec 2025 16:25:37
Whack as usual I agree with most of your comments, however my views are about my expectations which aren't to be confused with complaints. Our expected goals (XG) are one of the worst in the premier league and it is something that doesn't seem to be addressed, our slow build up and style of play is contributing to our poor striking performances and this is a fact not a complaint.

7.) 01 Dec 2025 18:54:51
For me it’s European qualification every time. European qualification means greater revenue, it enables you to invest in better players which should result in a better product so for me it’s a no brainier.

8.) 01 Dec 2025 20:43:05
We don't really have money, the rules guard against over reliance on owner investment.
We are 8th/9th in terms of revenue, 5 teams are double out revenue and we're only really on terms with West Ham because of European revenue.
Our revenue is not massively above the likes of Brighton and Fulham, one plays nice football without consistent results and the other plays functional football which has had them over performing their squad on paper.

Expecting both, like we have a team of Galacticos, is why your opinion is respected about as much as flat earthers and anti vaxxers.

9.) 01 Dec 2025 22:02:32
I think we are entitled to both

29 Nov 2025 21:27:52
I think Emery will continue with his patience with Ollie and he will start tomorrow hopefully with Mallen.I just hope he has finally seen enough of Guessand considering how poor he has been, most fans certainly have had enough. Tomorrow might be more difficult than many will think, we need to up the tempo and speed up our forward play.

scotcaffu

1.) 30 Nov 2025 09:02:47
Dave Emery has to try Ollie and Malan as a two, honestly believe it would free Ollie up . As far as Guessand is concerned, Obviously Emery likes the fact, he’s big strong pacy and gets back defensively. His problems start when he gets forward, he can do the odd good thing, but his brain and feet just don’t appear to work fast enough. UTV

2.) 30 Nov 2025 13:58:18
I called it from the start he is awful.

23 Nov 2025 16:46:55
A wins a win especially when we were not at our best. Rogers does what Rogers does, true quality one minute, missing far too often. I thought Martinez redeemed him self after his early flap. I thought it was one of our poorest passing performances this season, which put us in far too much unnecessary defensive problems.

Malen gets better every game unfortunately the same can't be said about Ollie. A good win on Thursday should keep up the momentum in the league. Great to see our league position and especially with our poor start. As I said a Win is a Win well done Emery for changing things at half time.

scotcaffu

1.) 24 Nov 2025 22:14:41
Agree Scot, most managers wait till the 60 min mark to change things but when we have a strong bench what’s the point in waiting and wasting 15 valuable mins, great that making subs is no longer weakening the team. hopefully we can beat our neighbours now next weekend

Couldn't agree more. We obviously would benefit from upgrades in certain positions but keeping the core of this squad together is invaluable.as is keeping our manager, regardless of the inevitable panic next time we hit a bit of poor form.

10 Nov 2025 10:49:53
International break again, wish it came after our next couple of games, everyone's mojo is back, sadly most of our squad don't get a rest, hopefully they all come back fit and raring to go again. Confidence is an amazing thing and it's sky high at the moment let's hope we are up and competing at the European levels again.

1.) 10 Nov 2025 14:55:24
Hopefully Ollie benefits from not going with England and if he does have a niggle it clears up

Pity England wasn't a full time gig, Maguire would be in permanently. Man U defence with Maguire at the heart have been poor for a while, why would want a slow centre back.

Its pretty much ball park what i thought, i think Elghazi will struggle to get anywhere near 10 i also think with ings wages, teams likely to want him will want to pay around 10 so he can maintain his wages.Ings still has time to run on his contract so he may want to sit tight, we would have to drop our valuation to get his wages off the books.

Trinity I'm able bodied and I'm only just recovering from that performance. My two grandsons both echoed your views about Watkins and Guessand, how on earth did we pay a stupid fee for possibly one of our worst signings. If Ollie had an open goal he would probably miss.

Why don't we ever put teams to bed when we have such control of the game, tonight could easily have been a draw. If we play this slow complacent lethargic play against Wolves don't be surprised if we struggle to get three points.
