A superb first half should have had more than one. Second half solid, I thought Ollie got his mojo back, Digne had a superb game, great to have SJM and Tielemans back. I have to question Emery regarding Bailey, he obviously sees things that most of us can't. Hopefully this will kickstart our resurgence.
1.) 22 Mar 2026 17:33:51
Scotty, are you alright? I'm really worried, only kicking Bailey? Bloody hell. Get yourself down the Dr's for a check up.

I am in a bar in Tenerife that has had the Villa game and Forrest on two TVs next to each other, one game exciting teams trying to score and one team playing slow deliberate football. Guess which one.
We are such a boring lacklustre watch. We are playing a weak second rate team and nothing is changing slow tempo without a clue how to attack. Glad I have restaurant booked for 9 o'clock.
1.) 19 Mar 2026 22:43:54
Have a good holiday, Scotty, don't let Villa ruin it, mate. lol.
2.) 20 Mar 2026 14:39:36
Jonny, give your head a wobble, and take a day off. We won, we are in the Quarter finals. UTV.

Apparently Mings was one of our best players and his aerial height was vital. Obviously injuries aren't helping but our form is not good, both Man U and Chelsea are looking as they will catch us sooner than later. We need to deal with what we have and get on with it.
Wednesday is vital we stop the rot or Europe could become a problem. I see Bailey was woeful and gave the ball away far to often, obviously got to give him time but he was singled out in the press as our worst player, appreciate he came off the bench but hope we didn't get Bailey MK2.

Tomorrow is the time to reverse the disappointing performances of late, Ollie is apparently fit and starts, Onana is reportedly ok as well, so we need to show the teams around us that we are not easy to play against and that's definitely not the case.
I have a ticket for tomorrow's game and off up the A34 in the morning, I'm hoping for something positive and a strong performance, another defeat would show our competing teams that we are not up for the fight.
1.) 07 Feb 2026 13:29:41
Good post scotty I have to agree, time to roll up our sleeves. on the plus side Bournemouth at home will come at us so hopefully leave some space to get in behind them

I understand we have a ten million surplus from the Malen/ Tammy deal, taking in to account the younger kid.Wonder if we are lining up a big money signing and every penny counts, we will certainly know pretty soon???
1.) 24 Jan 2026 15:32:56
There's not a 10m surplus at all. 21m euros and Ozcan. Cash wise its about 3m if we're lucky.
2.) 24 Jan 2026 17:06:01
There are some loopholes around signing youth players so it’s possible that although we didn’t make cash profit on him it could contribute more than the 3 million towards psr.
3.) 24 Jan 2026 17:15:04
Dave I think that Sky getting it wrong again, they reported we go something stupid like 30 m Euros for the kid . UTV

It's really sad that all the good work Emery has achieved since he joined us, yes we have had some good and great times, but nothing has happened to get us to the next level. In my honest opinion, what's gone wrong? Transfer policy (and yes, financial control hasn't helped). Look at our signings that haven't worked: Guessand, Maettson, Sancho, Luiz, Elliott to mention a few. Our slow style just isn't working and nothing has been done to address it. Every team now sets up to make us look clueless and far too easy to play against. Whatever happens, Champions League or Europa League or Conference League, we need new players and a new progressive coach.
Of course finances will be an issue; however, Brighton, Sunderland, Brentford, Bournemouth have all found a way of getting quality at reasonable prices and, look, they all play far better football than us. I will be there
Thursday as I always have been. Sadly, another performance like Fulham, Forest and Spurs, the ground will be toxic and Emery won't survive. Looks like injuries have hit us and it will make a result on Thursday very difficult. The fans will help; however, I have no confidence in the players, especially the likes of Rogers, Sancho.

I was going to post as soon as I got home, but glad I read the posts below. I thought I would be on my own regarding Emery, obviously not. I genuinely hope he is not here at the start of next season, he has taken us to the next level and has to be congratulated. The slow negative football is not working, look at the last few games, Fulham, Forest and tonight absolutely no attacking intent three games without any attacking threat and it's been like this for far too many games. Our goal difference over the last three seasons has been the worst of all the teams around us. Concede too many and not score enough. That's Emery's tactics. Many will say look what he has done can't argue with that, however he has won nothing and doesn't like that will change. I don't enjoy watching our football and I can honestly say I would we happy to watch, Brentford, Bournemouth and Brighton and finish in sixth or seventh.
If we are not careful is where we will end up. I can honestly say I told my eldest grandson that after Sunderland we wouldn't win another game and sadly it's three on the trot and still think we won't win another game. We may still get fifth if Brighton, Bournemouth and Brentford all lose enough games to get us over the line, it definitely won't be off our own bat. Finally the football is absolutely dire and I can't see it changing. My views are definitely not just on tonight's performance, Emery obviously had an eye on Thursday's game so that's understandable, it's everything about our style of play that's frustrating me and giving my view that Emery's time is finished at Aston Villa, sad but true as I see things.
1.) 04 May 2026 12:13:39
Agree. Scotty's time is up. We have played this way for 2 years and it's not working. Who really enjoys watching us play? I know I don't.
2.) 04 May 2026 12:25:01
Not working. We've been in Europe 3 seasons on the trot, Worzel.
3.) 04 May 2026 12:48:43
That's true Daz, but we won nothing but some prize money, which we have wasted on players that didn't work. Like Jonny says, the football we play is terrible to watch, it's boring, and in no way entertaining, apart from a handful of games each season.
At the end of the day, if we don't either win a trophy this year or qualify top 5, I can't see NSWE standing for it after the position we were in after the Sunderland game. Do you think we will fill the stadium week after week to watch the football we have been subjected to this season? If Spurs and Chelsea click next season, we will never get near top 5 again.
This was our chance to take Spurs out of the equation for a season or 2, but he didn't look at the bigger picture, simply because he's not a Villa fan, he's paid to be here. We've played 2 games a week for most of the season, and part of it with a threadbare squad, and if you're telling me this team couldn't manage it once more and lift themselves for a European semi final on Thursday, then they don't deserve it.
30 Apr 2026 22:01:13
Is it because we haven't got the players or is it Emery's tactics or both.
1.) 30 Apr 2026 22:16:49
Nope, Its this boring, slow style of football we play. Its awfull, if we dont beat Forest nxt Thursday we should have some serious questions about Unai. It will be shocking getting beat by Forest who rnt even that great aswell. Season will be over and will wont get 5th even thou we have 8point cushion.
2.) 30 Apr 2026 22:51:28
You do more u turns than Keir Starmer
3.) 30 Apr 2026 23:29:50
Haha quality Lord and very true. You'd think a few on here would've realised by now the error of their ways, but clearly not. Give a blind man 100 darts and he'll hit the bullseye at least once I suppose.
4.) 01 May 2026 03:17:15
So you 2 will be happy playing like that and getting beat by a poor Forest side. Questions should be asked if we go out as well. Can't get beat by Forest, that's shocking. When are these players gonna turn up in big games? They're bottlers, the lot of them, and the manager for playing negative football.
It will be 9 years that Unai hasn't won a trophy as well, while Glasner's gonna win his 3rd with Palace. This Villa team is so annoying. Oh well, if we blow it, we mess it all up, we do it together. But the summer won't be nice. At least we will be in top5 though, I can't see us messing that up, can we.
5.) 01 May 2026 10:35:52
I don't think anybody is saying we are/should be happy with a poor performance... but there's a big jump from criticism of performances to hinting at the manager needing to go or throwing toys out of the pram, suggesting we're in for a relegation fight. There's just way too much short term reactionary thought and lack of perspective on here sometimes.
6.) 01 May 2026 10:47:37
Nope, for me, if we dont win this, then Unai has taken the club as far as it can go under him, and id go all out for Iraola, Glasner, or Hurztler. Glasner gonna win his 3rd trophy with Palace on less of the budget of wot Unai has, and they play better football as well.
7.) 01 May 2026 10:55:44
Well it's just as well you aren't in charge, VJ, isn't it? And as for being a poor side, Forest are unbeaten in 9. That's not the performance level of a poor team.
8.) 01 May 2026 12:03:27
Then why are they in a relegation battle.
9.) 01 May 2026 13:06:40
Well, when we didn't get a win in our first five games, were we a bad side? I don't think so. Forest are on a good run, and whilst we were poor last night, it's only half time, and how many games have we won from going behind this season? The answer is plenty.
30 Apr 2026 21:54:35
We got exactly what we deserved. What did Rogers, Watkins, Buendia do positive? Absolutely nothing. Sunday and next Thursday will be exactly the same. Why? Because that's how we play.
25 Apr 2026 15:10:29
Goalkeeper didn't even have to make a save, disappointing show all round and the worst is I'm not at all surprised it's exactly as I expected and Forest will be rubbing their hands.
1.) 25 Apr 2026 16:22:03
Dave, Man U will be very excited. UTV.
15 Jan 2026 18:00:34
Dave it won't be the first mistake we have made recently
12 Aug 2024 16:33:45
With your there as well LOTM,
04 Jan 2023 16:08:37
Pity England wasn't a full time gig, Maguire would be in permanently. Man U defence with Maguire at the heart have been poor for a while, why would want a slow centre back.
27 May 2022 11:10:46
Its pretty much ball park what i thought, i think Elghazi will struggle to get anywhere near 10 i also think with ings wages, teams likely to want him will want to pay around 10 so he can maintain his wages.Ings still has time to run on his contract so he may want to sit tight, we would have to drop our valuation to get his wages off the books.
26 May 2022 19:49:24
Whack,Loti we are up to 15,how much do you think this lot would fetch?
03 May 2026 22:59:35
We are far too easy to play against, and Unai Emery changes nothing. Every team lately are rubbing their hands because it's so easy to play against.
03 May 2026 22:57:46
59, we are with you. Many of us have been saying this for a while.
30 Apr 2026 23:05:36
Dave, unfortunately, we only seem to be able to pile misery on ourselves.
30 Apr 2026 21:59:51
And Rogers.
30 Apr 2026 21:57:02
Whack absolutely bang on. Weak and predictable, just like the last six games. Nothing changes, and I'm sick of watching Rogers doing absolutely nothing other than give the ball away. Emery is sleepwalking into failure, and it's so frustrating.
