€60m seems a lot of money to spend on this lad.
Whilst he was touted as a real threat to Villa before the Final, the reality didn’t quite live up to the hype.
Time will tell and I sincerely hope he lives up to the price tag.

You really do have to wonder what’s gone on with the recruitment over the past 4 years.
I’ve also read about Louie Barry’s contract and salary. £35k a week !!!!
Which idiot(s) drew up that contract?
These are the sort of deals that have caused us to be in the PSR/SCR problem we’re in.
There will be many more good.
I hope we can sort out these contracts and don’t make these mistakes this summer. We really can’t afford to.

I wonder what the transfer window holds for us.
Is anyone braced for some disappointment?
With all the talk of Scr and a UEFA fine (partly suspended) does this mean we will be playing with our hands tied again?
Personally, I think we’ll see some departures before we do bring in new faces.

UEFA certainly don't want English clubs getting stronger and winning anything. With how savvy Villa usually are with rulings, you can't believe they have put themselves in this position to receive such large fines. We have hands tied by Premier, then even more so with UEFA. The SCR, and previously FFP, were supposed to be there to prevent clubs from failing financially.
What it's actually doing is preventing open competition.
Whether that was the hidden agenda is open to interpretation.
One thing that is undeniable is that the EPL, SKY, and TNT make a lot of money selling the televised games around the world, and the interest is now in place for the so-called big 6.
Why would they want to jeopardise that massive income by diluting the product?

Villan59, we will have to see outgoings, as our transfer business has to align because of UEFA's punishment meted out last year. So, if we spend £100 million, we have to sell £100 million, so I think we won't be buying players in the £50-60 million bracket, or if we do, then I think it's fair to assume Rogers will be off.

Our 1st choice 11 as it stands (if no one of them leaves) pretty much picks itself. Emi, back 4 of Digne-Torres-Konsa-Cash, mid 2 Kamara-Tielemans, Buendia-Rogers-McGinn behind Ollie. If none of them leave, who out of them would be edged out by a signing that would start? To my mind, it's only Digne-Cash-Buendia that are 50/50, could be improved on in a starting 11. Been mentioned on here for left back that Jakob of Galatasaray looks decent at the World Cup, valued at around £10M, Mingueza, right back on a free, that would free up the big money for Buendia's position.
Someone like Godts or Mbaye, both who would cost £30-40M, would even go as far to say Curtis Jones could play that role. I'm just saying players who would start. I know we need options off the bench & to cover any outgoings, but I'm saying £50M only makes our starting 11 better. ??♂️

Villa will be fine, players will come in and be sold as well. I do think, though, we should look to sign younger players and promote our youth, and let Unai develop them and mould them into top players.

Interesting stat, in 3 years, Tielemans has missed 36 competitive games which is almost one whole season and we’ve still qualified for Europe 3 consecutive seasons.
2 ways of using this stat obviously but one season in 3 is still a lot.

With Digne looking like he's going back to France, does this now take pressure off re: SCR/PSR?
Not really the way we want to do business, but until we get the stadium up to 55k plus, and the commercial side is bringing in regular massive amounts of revenue, it's the only way.

My No. 1 low is made up of several lows really.
1 point from Brentford, Everton, Spurs and Leeds at home.
Absolutely terrible in isolation.
But we qualified for UCL by finishing 4th and won a major trophy, so those lows are massively countered by that.
