Donyell Malen is the most prolific stirker anywhere in Europe since his transfer on 18th Jan to Roma.
Unbelievable!
20 goals! £21m. What is he worth now? £50, £60, £70m?
Possibly one of the worst transfer deals Villa have done in the past 10 years.

One way of looking at it, none of us wanted to see either of them go but 71 million for Malen and Watkins wasn't bad business. in the perfect world Watkins would of left and Malen would be our main man now, we were unlucky with how the cards fell.

A decent enough performance last night. Some positives, Mbaye's pace, Hemmings pace, THB solid, Abraham scoring. Coventry are poor but you can only beat what's in front of you.
Negatives: Bizot, Bogarde and Mings. I know we shouldn't criticise too quickly but the change in our options when Suzuki came on was startling. Bogarde did not look good. Since his debut when he looked a promising youngster his performances have gone backwards. 3 times, at least, he gave the ball away either on the edge of the box or in the penalty area. Far too risky. Mings again tries to look too confident on the ball but his feet just don't seem to keep up with his confidence.
Manzambi started to look more effective and I'm sure he will get better and better. Allyson too, looked bright.
What is happening with Garnacho? Emery's post match comments suggest to me that he's already made his mind up and won't be featuring in many games, certainly not enough to trigger the obligation to buy. We'll see.

Villa have saved c£50m gross a year in salaries in players sold or loaned out this summer.
I’d be amazed if the net saving on salaries wasn’t close to £15m a year.
This was clearly an objective during this window.
Let’s hope the end product is at least competitive.

Missing out on Ordonez would be a big loss, in my view. Can't say I'm overly impressed by us being linked with 2 centre-backs from relegated clubs. Whilst we can't necessarily shop at Harrods, we should be able to do better than Poundland. ?

100% Dave. I know he's our player but I honestly believe any true football fan with a decent set of morals could not help themselves but admire him, his career and just the type of person he is.
not enough players like him anymore. he could of gotten a move after a year or 2 in the premier league he has always been a top performer at this level.

Dave, I watched the SJM interview, he is a great player, a brilliant ambassador and a genuinely honest guy. Not only did he get the first half analysis right,he also said in the interview,if the game had gone on ten minutes longer Spurs would have probably got a draw, bang on! Dave you are right he will definitely go down as one of our greats, the difference between him and all the other worthy greats,he is the complete all round super star.
Many of the other greats were great footballers and legends for their ability,SJM is just SJM, he is a great footballer and all round nice guy and we are so lucky to have supported Villa whilst he has been around during our struggles and highlights. He should be a player, coach and ambassador for the rest of his football career at Villa Park.

100% Scot, he is infectious and we need to keep him around the club, so many kids look up to him, my own included, he's always asking about ex players/ legends of different clubs when the camera picks them up and I have no doubt when he grows up and has his own kids he'll be telling them how much of a legend MaGinn was for Villa.

Looks like you may have hit the nail on the head, 74. Ordonez is off to Palace. The only thing I'd say is Ordonez is currently injured, so it would be 4-5 weeks before he's even fit again.
I don't know. What a transfer window this has been, and not in a great way so far.

VJ, I know it's not the start we wanted and right now things do not look great but you should be really careful what you ‘wish for'.
This season was always going to be difficult with the changes that have had to be made but Emery is one of the top managers in world club football.
It's disappointing, we all get it, but throwing about deadlines is fickle.
