Looks like we are prioritising Jared Bowen over Harry Wilson. Will cost us a hefty fee but Bowen is a better player and the winger we have been crying out for.
1.) 24 Jun 2026 20:43:26
They're talking about £50M for Bowen. That's way too much considering his age. Would he improve us? Yes. But his heart is at West Ham. Not gonna happen, but I'd loan him for a fee, with an option, not an obligation to buy.
I'm pretty sure West Ham will come straight back up, then all parties could decide what's next. Maybe let them have Allyson on loan as a sweetener, unless Unai wants to keep him around. ??♂️

2.) 24 Jun 2026 23:10:32
I can understand us taking a 29-year-old on a free, but I certainly wouldn't pay £50 million for one. Wilson is a good-quality PL player, whose wage demands, I would imagine, will be less than Bowen's. If we are going to spend £50 million on a player, it doesn't need to be on Bowen.
3.) 29 Jun 2026 09:46:48
Just seen Andy Goldstein saying that a source of his has told him Bowen to Villa is gonna happen, permanent transfer. ??♂️

4.) 29 Jun 2026 10:10:25
From a business perspective, and let's be honest, football clubs are businesses. A move for Bowen makes no sense. £50 million plus for a 29 year old, who will have little or no resale value, is crackers to my mind. It does nothing to reduce the age profile of the squad, and to fund the move we are going to have to sell our best player in Rogers.
I could understand selling Rogers if we were to invest the money in up and coming talents and reducing the age of the squad, but not to fund a move for a 29 year old.
5.) 29 Jun 2026 10:22:42
It makes much more sense to go for someone like Soule, Nwaneri or Dju (if looking for someone left footed) for less than £30M. Flip of that is we bought Digne when he was around 29 & if he was to go on a free at the end of his contract, I'd say we've got our money's worth out of him. ??♂️

6.) 29 Jun 2026 14:24:22
But at the point we signed Digne we weren't in the financial mire we are currently in, and we weren't looking to break into the "Big Six". Whether we like it or not, until we can increase our revenue streams, and increase them significantly, we are likely to continue to be a "selling" club, unfortunately.
7.) 29 Jun 2026 16:08:11
We're not in the mire, Mings. We can spend as much as we want, just not allowed to cos of the outdated financial rules. There's no way West Ham would get £50M for Bowen unless it's a Saudi club; £35M a bit more realistic, & there's talk Bogarde being on his bike, which would be £20M+ of pure homegrown player profit. That's without us selling any of the fringe players like Bailey, Guessand & I'd even go as far to say Onana might be sold. Don't forget Malen has gone for about £25M, Enzo (I think) for £15M.
We haven't bought Elliot for £35M, which at the start of last season looked likely, or else why would we have done that deal. We've got others that could be leaving too, I don't think our financial situation is a tenth as bad as the media is making out. Only a few more days till guys become available on a free (like Mingueza), so let's just be patient. 100% we're gonna be stronger next season.

8.) 29 Jun 2026 19:29:24
Bowen too old for me. 50mil for a 29 yr old, no thanks. Mbaye, Rowe, Ikuhnda, Whittiker, Finn Azzeez, or Kubo for me, or Ademi from Dortmund.
9.) 29 Jun 2026 19:47:56
Jonny, how many of them players are left-footed right wingers? Those players you've listed would be bought for the left wing, which we're also supposed to be looking at doing?

Hi Lord Of, you say clubs are businesses yet our business isn't allowed to spend any money to improve, that is not what businesses who are successful do.
Perhaps the Premier League needs to start listening to supporters, and let the clubs who want to invest actually get on with it.
11.) 01 Jul 2026 22:13:15
They say 'speculate to accumulate', I suppose only if you finish 17th 2 seasons in a row & charge £10 for a pint at half time. ??

Champions league is still very much in our own hands. 2 disappointing home results should not take away from where we are at the moment, realistically 7 wins from 14 games with a couple of draws should be enough. We are getting one or 2 injured players back now with others in a few more weeks.
Still fighting on 3 fronts so plenty to be excited about and a win Saturday puts us firmly in control over Liverpool who Have a tricky game against city and could find themselves 10 points behind at ko.
I'm still not convinced Chelsea will overtake us and I'm expecting them to start dropping points again after the new manager bounce
Let's take some positivity into the tail end of the season as still plenty to play for . UTV

If EMI is to go and if fee of £40m is to be believed then I would take it and sign Trafford from city. Good young keeper maybe a risk now but will be excellent keeper in future
1.) 26 Jan 2026 16:51:20
No chance of 40 million we won’t even get 20 he’s 33, personally I don’t think he’s worth selling, we won’t get anywhere near his quality for the money we get for him
2.) 26 Jan 2026 23:29:38
We don’t need a keeper ‘for the future’ we need one that will equal Emi’s current performances so we continue to compete for the league and inEurope ?
3.) 27 Jan 2026 06:59:58
I like Trafford, but if Emi was to go (in the summer) I’d go with Henderson of Palace, but they’re saying the Porto/Portugal keeper is the 1 that Emery wants

4.) 27 Jan 2026 09:11:29
Costa would be my choice aswel.
5.) 28 Jan 2026 23:34:15
I prefer Starbucks.
6.) 31 Jan 2026 14:12:47
???
17 Jan 2026 17:38:43
Not sure how true but rumours are we are interested in Schade from Brentford now he would be an upgrade on Malen from what I've seen of him but depends on price I imagine, Tammy would be the cheaper option
1.) 17 Jan 2026 19:17:48
Apparently Brentford don’t want to sell and if they did the price would be north of £50 million and we habitat that type of money at the moment. It’s just click bait I’m afraid.

Chelsea get £10M fine and suspended sentences for 74 breaches of the rules. Couldn’t make it up, precedent now set so Man City will get a slap on wrist and told don’t do it again.
So unfair when Everton and Forest got hammered with points deductions. One rule for big 6 and s*** the rest, what with this and PSR, why bother when you can’t compete fairly. It makes you sick.
1.) 01 Aug 2026 00:23:33
It is genuinely frustrating, mate. It doesn't look like changing anytime soon either.
Little old me is just happy we made it a whole week without selling anyone important. ?
2.) 01 Aug 2026 07:06:34
... And if it isn't sufficiently effective at keeping Aston Villa (and other clubs) at bay, some referees can always be of assistance to aid the Big Six. The only thing that would gain attention and cause a stir would be a boycott of all games against the Big Six.
3.) 01 Aug 2026 12:18:23
The problem the Premier League has is that if they hit City and prove them guilty, all clubs that have been relegated, lost out on a European place, or have been beaten in Europe by City will all sue the Premier League for allowing City to abuse the system for so long.
That would bankrupt the Premier League, which is why it's taking so long. They won't do anything.
22 Jul 2026 18:19:58
I’ve never liked Garnacho but he is better than Bailey and Guessand and even better than Sancho so I will be giving him a clean slate if he arrives. I’m sure Unai won’t stand for any bad behaviour from him so it could be a good move depending on loan terms and option to buy price.
I would have preferred Summerville but Saudi’s have priced everybody out.
Let’s not forget we have Allyson and Madjo to come in who are like new signings so could end up with a decent squad.
18 Jul 2026 21:48:06
You have to ask question of how can Chelsea afford it. No European football next season stadium capacity on a par with us but spend what they want. We see Spurs spending like it’s Monopoly money but just miss relegation 2 seasons running.
Simple truth is we cannot compete in this corrupt and unfair system.
1.) 18 Jul 2026 22:25:18
Was thinking this the other day. When the talk of PSR comes up on TalkSPORT, when Gabby's on, & he says about Spuds having concerts, NFL, boxing revenue at their stadium, I've been scratching my head trying to think if Chelski do the same. If they haven't, then how is it they can spend like they do?
UTV.
18 Jul 2026 20:55:05
Total sales now total 201 million, more than enough to keep PSR happy. Let’s spend wisely. In Unai we trust.
13 Jul 2026 19:26:26
Tielemans let his contract run down at Leicester and went for a free. Villa saw same thing happening and decided to cash in now. Good business in my opinion. He will be a big miss but as stated on here he does miss a lot of games through injury and his scoring stats are not the best.
All in all I think we have made the correct decision.
1.) 13 Jul 2026 21:11:24
Same aswell, shew he will be replaced, owners trust Unai, plus age of the squad is coming dwn, and seems like we are rebuilding the squad again. All good managers rebuild teams and squads. nxt few weeks will be interesting for Villa, plus also frobt sponsor could be announced aswell and arm sponsor.
2.) 13 Jul 2026 23:20:33
We didn't decide anything. United met his release clause, there was nothing we could do to stop it, only he could choose. I'm raging it's United, to be honest. He will be brilliant with Bruno.
I see people complaining about his release clause being so low. In truth, it probably reduced each year of his contract.
He was also a free agent, so he held the aces in the negotiations. Hard to see him go; he's the engine in our midfield. We improved when McGinn came back, but we weren't back properly until Youri came back and got back to match fit. We need a strong signing in the center to fill that void. Gussand plus cash for Wharton, anyone?
3.) 14 Jul 2026 08:32:58
I'd like to see us get Kone from Roma or Zaire Emery from PSG.
07 Mar 2026 12:49:59
Don't fancy Jackson tbh, although I'd heard we were having 2nd thoughts due to issues with his temperament.
14 Jul 2026 17:09:50
If it's a decent amount, we get who cares. Other teams will be getting way dodgier sponsors now betting firms are off the table. At least we didn't get Visit Iran lol.
{Ed001's Note - Iran isn't committing a genocide anywhere. Maybe you meant Israel?}
06 May 2026 13:16:21
VJ, you change your mind more times than Spurs change managers. A couple of weeks ago you were saying how good Emery was. Make your mind up, mate. I'm an Emery fan, but can see how he gets things wrong at times; he sees the bigger picture, I don't, so I'll judge him at end of season.
Can't wait to see some humble pie being eaten on here if we beat Forest. VTID
01 May 2026 11:14:42
Not sure I agree, VJ. We saw what happened with only a couple of our big hitters out. We need to beat Spurs to get some confidence back.
22 Apr 2026 19:50:05
Fair play, VJ. Welcome to the enlightened. Glad you are seeing how lucky we are to have him.
21 Mar 2026 22:42:57
Did you watch Newcastle play Barcelona midweek, VJ? No way would they turn us over like that.
