Bailey finally gone to Olympiacos. Good riddance.

Looking more and more likely we get Jackson from Chelsea, talk of £47m plus add ons. Hopefully we don’t get issues with UEFA. He wouldn’t be my ideal choice but not a lot out there for what we have to spend.

Looks like we are prioritising Jared Bowen over Harry Wilson. Will cost us a hefty fee but Bowen is a better player and the winger we have been crying out for.

1.) 24 Jun 2026 20:43:26
They're talking about £50M for Bowen. That's way too much considering his age. Would he improve us? Yes. But his heart is at West Ham. Not gonna happen, but I'd loan him for a fee, with an option, not an obligation to buy.

I'm pretty sure West Ham will come straight back up, then all parties could decide what's next. Maybe let them have Allyson on loan as a sweetener, unless Unai wants to keep him around. ??‍♂️

UTV.

2.) 24 Jun 2026 23:10:32
I can understand us taking a 29-year-old on a free, but I certainly wouldn't pay £50 million for one. Wilson is a good-quality PL player, whose wage demands, I would imagine, will be less than Bowen's. If we are going to spend £50 million on a player, it doesn't need to be on Bowen.

3.) 29 Jun 2026 09:46:48
Just seen Andy Goldstein saying that a source of his has told him Bowen to Villa is gonna happen, permanent transfer. ??‍♂️

UTV.

4.) 29 Jun 2026 10:10:25
From a business perspective, and let's be honest, football clubs are businesses. A move for Bowen makes no sense. £50 million plus for a 29 year old, who will have little or no resale value, is crackers to my mind. It does nothing to reduce the age profile of the squad, and to fund the move we are going to have to sell our best player in Rogers.

I could understand selling Rogers if we were to invest the money in up and coming talents and reducing the age of the squad, but not to fund a move for a 29 year old.

5.) 29 Jun 2026 10:22:42
It makes much more sense to go for someone like Soule, Nwaneri or Dju (if looking for someone left footed) for less than £30M. Flip of that is we bought Digne when he was around 29 & if he was to go on a free at the end of his contract, I'd say we've got our money's worth out of him. ??‍♂️

UTV.

6.) 29 Jun 2026 14:24:22
But at the point we signed Digne we weren't in the financial mire we are currently in, and we weren't looking to break into the "Big Six". Whether we like it or not, until we can increase our revenue streams, and increase them significantly, we are likely to continue to be a "selling" club, unfortunately.

7.) 29 Jun 2026 16:08:11
We're not in the mire, Mings. We can spend as much as we want, just not allowed to cos of the outdated financial rules. There's no way West Ham would get £50M for Bowen unless it's a Saudi club; £35M a bit more realistic, & there's talk Bogarde being on his bike, which would be £20M+ of pure homegrown player profit. That's without us selling any of the fringe players like Bailey, Guessand & I'd even go as far to say Onana might be sold. Don't forget Malen has gone for about £25M, Enzo (I think) for £15M.

We haven't bought Elliot for £35M, which at the start of last season looked likely, or else why would we have done that deal. We've got others that could be leaving too, I don't think our financial situation is a tenth as bad as the media is making out. Only a few more days till guys become available on a free (like Mingueza), so let's just be patient. 100% we're gonna be stronger next season.

UTV

8.) 29 Jun 2026 19:29:24
Bowen too old for me. 50mil for a 29 yr old, no thanks. Mbaye, Rowe, Ikuhnda, Whittiker, Finn Azzeez, or Kubo for me, or Ademi from Dortmund.

9.) 29 Jun 2026 19:47:56
Jonny, how many of them players are left-footed right wingers? Those players you've listed would be bought for the left wing, which we're also supposed to be looking at doing?

UTV.

10.) 01 Jul 2026 15:37:18
Hi Lord Of, you say clubs are businesses yet our business isn't allowed to spend any money to improve, that is not what businesses who are successful do.
Perhaps the Premier League needs to start listening to supporters, and let the clubs who want to invest actually get on with it.

11.) 01 Jul 2026 22:13:15
They say 'speculate to accumulate', I suppose only if you finish 17th 2 seasons in a row & charge £10 for a pint at half time. ??

Champions league is still very much in our own hands. 2 disappointing home results should not take away from where we are at the moment, realistically 7 wins from 14 games with a couple of draws should be enough. We are getting one or 2 injured players back now with others in a few more weeks.

Still fighting on 3 fronts so plenty to be excited about and a win Saturday puts us firmly in control over Liverpool who Have a tricky game against city and could find themselves 10 points behind at ko.

I'm still not convinced Chelsea will overtake us and I'm expecting them to start dropping points again after the new manager bounce
Let's take some positivity into the tail end of the season as still plenty to play for . UTV

If EMI is to go and if fee of £40m is to be believed then I would take it and sign Trafford from city. Good young keeper maybe a risk now but will be excellent keeper in future

VillaShew

1.) 26 Jan 2026 16:51:20
No chance of 40 million we won’t even get 20 he’s 33, personally I don’t think he’s worth selling, we won’t get anywhere near his quality for the money we get for him

2.) 26 Jan 2026 23:29:38
We don’t need a keeper ‘for the future’ we need one that will equal Emi’s current performances so we continue to compete for the league and inEurope ?

3.) 27 Jan 2026 06:59:58
I like Trafford, but if Emi was to go (in the summer) I’d go with Henderson of Palace, but they’re saying the Porto/Portugal keeper is the 1 that Emery wants

4.) 27 Jan 2026 09:11:29

I thought a better performance last night although Coventry were poor but defence still worries me. Especially in 1st half we looked nervous at the back but I think bringing Suzuki on in 2nd half helped as we were much better and looked more comfortable and controlled the game, his distribution will give us goals this season.

Hemmings is on the way to become a star if he continues as he is and will be our next Morgan Rodger's. I'd love to see Madjo unleashed on that spurs defence Saturday if he's fit.

VillaShew

1.) 17 Sep 2026 14:52:14
Shrew, having the worst midfield available, last night didn't help, Borgard bereft of any confidence and Barkley to slow and a liability when facing his own goal. UTV.

Question for VJ you say replace Emery in November if no improvement but who with? I can't think of any available managers I'd want. I bet if you read the posts this time last year they would be the same, Emery out, disgraceful, going down etc etc and although I don't think we will win 10 on bounce we will improve and climb the table.

We played some shocking football last season and still finished 4th.
Have faith in Emery and the system because without him things will be worse.

VillaShew

1.) 13 Sep 2026 17:16:51
Eddie howe would be the 1 for me if results dont get better did just as good as job at Newcastle like unai.

2.) 13 Sep 2026 17:27:51
????? Eddie Howe.

3.) 13 Sep 2026 17:40:35
Howe is rubbish, his teams only look good when they only play once a week against a knackered opponent.
Each time Newcastle qualified for Champions League, they were firmly in the bottom half the following year. They couldn't even say they did anything worthwhile in the Champions League as a defence either.

If you think we've had it bad with injuries under Emery, we would be playing the youth teams most weeks with Howe.
His football isn't really all that exciting either, his teams may try get it forward quicker but it's very rarely through play that is actually good to watch, it's mostly schoolboy 'kick and run' stuff.

4.) 13 Sep 2026 17:53:57
Won a cup,2 champions league finishes aswell really rubbish that is lol.

5.) 13 Sep 2026 19:16:53
Won a cup and 2 champions league finishes. mmmm sound like anyone else
Also chuck in Europe 4 years in succession.

6.) 13 Sep 2026 18:46:21
Emery won a cup and 4 years of the trot in Europe with a team that wasn't even his. Now he's building his own team cut the age of the team down promoted youth(Which you wanted) bought in younger players and you still have the audacity to moan clueless absolutely clueless.

7.) 13 Sep 2026 20:26:27
Name appearing on Twitter - Cesc Fabregas.

8.) 13 Sep 2026 20:27:03
I'm moaning cos of the displays that were producing on the pitch and like i said if it carries on and we still havent won a game by november we should get rid, its different this time around we havent got those players to turn it around them days are gone i reckon i'll happily eat humble pie if I'm wrong but its different this time ur eyes dont lie i know its 4 game but we have been woeful in every game if people cant see that then i dont know wot there watching,so people would rather get relegated and keep unai at Xmas if we were still in bottom 3 and still got no wins.

The way we are playing dont see who we beat were awful maybe Coventry, Ipswich and fulham, lets hope then we pick up points u must see something others don't and a few on here even pundits ex players are worried about villa, i have my doubts cant see us winning many matches the way we play.

9.) 13 Sep 2026 21:58:20
Looks like Pukka Pies are gonna be busy again.

10.) 13 Sep 2026 22:02:10
Howe only won the league cup, the same cup Dean Smith narrowly lost a final to City in when our only fit striker was Mbwana Samatta.
None of the big sides take that competition seriously, even in the final they regularly play a rotated team.

11.) 13 Sep 2026 22:09:55
Jonny, Emery has enough credit in the bank and proven track record to carry on. However I do agree that fans should be, as you say be "worried" this time. Like every home game I was there yesterday and lots of things were evidently wrong. Individual performances were way off the acceptable.

Buendia gives the ball away almost every time he gets the ball and will never be the answer. Mcginn struggled holding on to the ball. Our attacking threat is virtually non existent. Our midfield the engine of every team lacks quality,Kamara just doesn't look fit and with it.

Our defence looks vulnerable to pace and our central defence lacks pace. Our build up is so low that teams can get in to the low block before we can advance, no wonder we can't score. Our tactics show no sign of making changes to upset the opposition when we are struggling, everything is too samey.

Our attack is blunt, again the reason we can't score. Jonny is absolutely correct, if fans aren't worried,I think this time round they should be. At the end of yesterday's game there was only a couple of players at the final whistle that played in the final, so it was always going to be a struggle, however I don't think many would have expected it to be so far off the mark.

Our signings haven't had enough time yet, even though some think they should have including me. We will lose some of the squad to the international break so this will not be ideal for Emery to get them where he wants the team to be.

I Hope (but doubt) he puts a strong team out against Coventry to get the new boys time to gel and get us ready for Saturday against Spurs.

Emery nominated for coach of year at Ballon d’Or awards. Probably go to Captain Scarlet though. Still it’s recognition for a tremendous season.

Bloody hell it’s started already, anyone expecting a polished performance is deluded.
A point today but should have been more, we have so much talent yet to take the field and some of comments are laughable.
This season is going to be tough with more downs than ups but it’s necessary so we will be in a good shape to challenge the big boys again.

In an ideal world we would have added quality to an already decent squad but due to circumstances mainly out of his control Emery will have to start from scratch. Have patience and then see how good this guy is.

VillaShew

1.) 06 Sep 2026 10:53:58
I don't think it's by any means deluded for fans to expect more than 1 shot on target out of all that possession and shots. Shew. Hull parked the bus, like so many bad teams have done against us in recent seasons, and once again the team and manager did the same thing for 93 mins. Garnacho was brought on so he could fall over and lose the ball pretty much every time he got the ball, Tammy was brought on to not have the ball crossed into him.

People didn't expect a miracle, but they do expect highly paid professionals to see what everyone watching the game could see. It's not the end of the world to get a draw, but we have to do better against teams like this because it's costing us every season, not just this season.

I agree whack when we equalised I felt we were most likely to win it, Mbaye was looking good on the ball and we started to look more confident but injury put pay to that and with 10 men it was only forest who were going to win.

Re Abraham I've been really disappointed since we signed him but this season he is non existent and will definitely be 3rd choice once Madjo is fit, bit worried in Europe though as he will only make up the numbers and give us nothing.

Unfortunately Unai's hand was forced, and I don't believe he would want changes to be so drastic, but it is what it is. I'll be happy with top 10 and getting out of Champions League group stage this season.

If it's a decent amount, we get who cares. Other teams will be getting way dodgier sponsors now betting firms are off the table. At least we didn't get Visit Iran lol.

{Ed001's Note - Iran isn't committing a genocide anywhere. Maybe you meant Israel?}
