You might not be bothered, but I think Unai might. Torres' defensive work might not always be the best, but Emery likes his centre backs to be ball players and be able to bring the ball out from the back, and he is definitely the best we have at doing that.

Agree he's not the best cb, but he's class on the ball and pinging passes. Don't know why we haven't tried him as a hybrid cm or dm.

The problem now is lifting the players.
Honestly, if we play like this I can't see us winning another game.
As for Forest on Thursday, I've given up already. They play without fear and dynamic in attack.
We have too many player below the level. Season over I'm afraid.
We got away with it last Sunday but I've seen nothing that gives me any degree of confidence.

Rumour from guys I meet before the game were saying that Emery will wait to see if we're in CL before deciding on next move.
Sort of makes sense and the rumour about Madrid seems to be very much part of his decision.

Funnily enough Trinity I’ve heard much the same thing. Apparently whatever we achieve be it qualification for CL winning the Europa League we are still going to be in difficulty financially and dependent on our level of success we will have to sell 2 maybe 3 current first teamers. In terms of incomings we will look at free transfers and players from abroad as the salary demands aren’t as great as established PL players. I was told we have offered contracts to 2 Bundesliga players and 1 La Liga who are free in the summer no names were mentioned and apparently the players concerned are keeping options open before committing to anyone.
As a consequence Emery is frustrated however the board have drawn up a list of potential replacements should Unai leave. I accept this is purely speculation and obviously time will tell whether any of this is accurate or not but you could understand if what was shared contains a grain of truth.

Sadly, he's just not that type of person. We'd love to believe he is, but he isn't. If he were, he'd never have left in the first place. Of course, we'd give up everything for that moment with Villa, but he wouldn't.

Probably wouldn't have given up everything he's won with City for the Europa League. If something crazy happened next season and we won the Champions League, I'd say he definitely would. Offer him 100k a week when the transfer season starts, and we won't be long finding out.
I love to see him come back, if he were to stay fit and perform well... but it's a flip of a coin as to which Grealish we would see.

He's not an Unai player. Dean Smith used to turn a blind eye to some of the stuff he did, whereas Unai has very high standards and wouldn't put up with it.

What a night, what a performance, what a team, what a manager.
No words to describe the feeling today.
Having already achieved Champions League qualification, not winning last night wouldn’t have been the end of the world, but winning a major trophy and the way we did it was very special.
My boys have now finally seen us win a major trophy. That will never be forgotten.

Watched the Utd vs Forest game. Started in a relaxed mood but that changed the moment the referee ignored the VAR for the clear and obvious use of the arm to control the ball.
I have never been so angry during a game which I have literally no interest in.
That decision will surely confirm what most football fans believe, that there is a serious bias in favour of the Sky 6.
Embarrassing decision but more worrying is it was tantamount to corruption.
Any fan of any club that was on the receiving end of that decision would be seriously peed off and for good reason.

Just seen the challenge in the Old Firm game, how on earth are players being sent off for hair pulling but not clear dangerous tackles like that?
Don’t get me wrong, the pulling of hair is obviously a card but surely the sort of challenges we’ve seen over the past few weeks going unpunished is shocking.

Obviously he has to try and spin it and look at the positives.

Interesting interview though.
His faith in Rogers is, to my eyes, baffling. Played more minutes than any other player but his contribution per minutes played is questionable.
Maybe he just doesn’t trust anyone else?

Yes, read that earlier. It shouldn't be a surprise that he's linked to top jobs in Europe as he's one of the best in Europe.
Be gutted if he left. Fingers crossed it comes to nothing and is idle media gossip.

I thought we would rotate more today, but in the end it was neither one thing nor another.
Can't understand why he persists with Rogers when he's clearly struggling.
Why didn't he try Tammy and Watkins up front and take Rogers off?
One thing I do believe is Emery sets us up to play a very European style, which works well in Europe, you have to admit.
Less so in the Premier League.

Scotty, it's so frustrating.
Rogers must have received the ball 15 times in the final third in good areas and either falls over, gets tackled, or gives the ball away. Half of their attacks came from him.
Should have been subbed at HT. Bring Sancho or Buendia on.

I get so angry watching Villa with Mings in the team. You can hear him shouting and calling the shots, but he needs to keep his big mouth shut and do what he's paid to do.
He even lets the ball bounce instead of attacking it. Should have sold him 2 - 3 years ago. No sentiment in football. Not good enough.

Far too many mistakes.
Why didn't he take Rogers off? Half of Burnley's attacks came from him losing the ball.
Sick and tired of seeing the same mistakes every week.
Great as Thursday was, this was the best chance to cement CL football.
Win, take the pressure off the final.
But no, we have to gift teams goals.
Can't rest anyone next Friday now.
