Coventry are interested in Torres allegedly.
After yesterday I wouldn't be that bothered if he went

Trinity 74

1.) 27 Apr 2026 14:14:21
You might not be bothered, but I think Unai might. Torres' defensive work might not always be the best, but Emery likes his centre backs to be ball players and be able to bring the ball out from the back, and he is definitely the best we have at doing that.

2.) 27 Apr 2026 16:26:45
Agree he's not the best cb, but he's class on the ball and pinging passes. Don't know why we haven't tried him as a hybrid cm or dm.

3.) 27 Apr 2026 18:48:28
Wasn't pinging many at Fulham.

4.) 27 Apr 2026 22:27:24
Can't be great all the time, Dave.

5.) 28 Apr 2026 14:58:24
To be fair, he wasn't on his own vs Fulham.

The problem now is lifting the players.
Honestly, if we play like this I can't see us winning another game.
As for Forest on Thursday, I've given up already. They play without fear and dynamic in attack.
We have too many player below the level. Season over I'm afraid.
We got away with it last Sunday but I've seen nothing that gives me any degree of confidence.

Trinity 74

1.) 25 Apr 2026 21:34:57
Where are Forest and where are we? Not a great performance, I accept, but apart from a mad couple of minutes against Sunderland we were good. Season over? You're kidding. Are you really telling me that even performing below par, we won't beat Spurs and Burnley? You need to keep the faith and get behind the team.

25 Apr 2026 10:22:02
Didn't enjoy watching Sunderland vs Forest.
We are going to have our hands full with Forest.
They're pressing and closing Sunderland down really high up.
Last thing I want to see is Forest confidence.

Anyone know what's happening with the youngster Alysson? Not heard anything about him since before the international break.

Rumour from guys I meet before the game were saying that Emery will wait to see if we're in CL before deciding on next move.
Sort of makes sense and the rumour about Madrid seems to be very much part of his decision.

Funnily enough Trinity I’ve heard much the same thing. Apparently whatever we achieve be it qualification for CL winning the Europa League we are still going to be in difficulty financially and dependent on our level of success we will have to sell 2 maybe 3 current first teamers. In terms of incomings we will look at free transfers and players from abroad as the salary demands aren’t as great as established PL players. I was told we have offered contracts to 2 Bundesliga players and 1 La Liga who are free in the summer no names were mentioned and apparently the players concerned are keeping options open before committing to anyone.

As a consequence Emery is frustrated however the board have drawn up a list of potential replacements should Unai leave. I accept this is purely speculation and obviously time will tell whether any of this is accurate or not but you could understand if what was shared contains a grain of truth.

Winning trophies is the culmination and prize for all the hard work and good coaching. It's what every coach and player alike aspires to, surely.
Finishing 4th, 5th or 6th is meaningful progression but winning something tangible brings financial reward and greater media exposure.

Trinity 74

1.) 04 May 2026 20:15:37
So, playing in the CL doesn't give you more revenue and exposure to the world?
Winning a cup is what drives players, yes, agreed, but a club like ours needs revenue now.

04 May 2026 16:06:22
You’ve got to smile. The footballing Gods are certainly smiling on Forest at the moment, but you make your own luck by hard graft.
Think it’s written they’ll go on to win the Europa having watched today’s game. Fair play.
Would I swap a top 5 finish with winning the Europa? You’re damned right I would.

Trinity 74

1.) 04 May 2026 16:28:41
Yep, same as well, T74. They're gonna batter us on Thursday, and it's not gonna be nice. But I pray these overpaid bunch of pampered clowns can raise their game and put on a performance like we did against City, Arsenal, Bologna. Anything less, then we're out.

Players and manager owe us fans a performance to be proud of as a team, because over the last 2 years I'm not proud of this Villa team one little bit, because when the pressure is on we choke every time. I'm not looking forward to Thursday one bit.

2.) 04 May 2026 19:51:21
What a great fan you are, Jonny!

3.) 04 May 2026 20:03:05
Buck, you've found him out UTV.

4.) 04 May 2026 20:03:06
Supposedly!

5.) 04 May 2026 20:21:18
I'm fairly sure that he really follows the Small Heath lot!

Another cross into the penalty area and this time a penalty is given, correctly. This is a lesson to Mery and his coaching staff. You can pass the ball around as much as you like but putting the ball into danger areas causes chances and ultimately goals.

Trinity 74

04 May 2026 15:04:11
That’s what happens when you cross the ball into the box. Forest 1-0 up after 80 seconds.
Were toast on Thursday.

Some Villa fans need to get over their love affair with Mings. Yes, he helped our club to promotion but that is it. He possibly had the most touches for an outfield player yesterday. The opposition are happy with that because he is slow and ponderous. He’s not there to create, so why is he on the ball so much? He is and has always been a decent Championship player. Nothing more.

Our problems run deeper than one player, I know.
Abraham waited 60 minutes for a decent delivery into the box against a keeper who was subbed 25 minutes into a CL game for flapping at everything that came his way.

Then in the 96th minute, a cross, a header, a goal! Is anyone at the club looking at the opposition and changing the game plan to suit? No, just keep doing the same thing that we’ve been doing in every single game with no variation whatsoever.
It might work against European opposition but in the EPL it’s been worked out.

The only hope is Brighton, Brentford, Bournemouth or Chelsea fail in their last 3 or 4 games.
Think I’ll look at the odds for one of these to beat us to 5th.

Whack, Malen wasn't a waste of money. Selling him was a huge mistake. Check his stats.
As for the rest, pathetic bunch of strikers.
LotM, you cannot seriously defend what we've seen over the last 3 games.

Think it’s a loan unfortunately.

Yes, read that earlier. It shouldn't be a surprise that he's linked to top jobs in Europe as he's one of the best in Europe.
Be gutted if he left. Fingers crossed it comes to nothing and is idle media gossip.
One thing is for sure, he wouldn't have PSR concerns there.

Re: Guessand, signing him has to go down as one of the worst pieces of business we've done in recent times.
Not sure about JPM to be honest, really not sure.
This has been one difficult transfer window.

Yes, I heard that too.
Agree, the lad hasn’t done anything wrong. He’s been a victim of circumstance.
Feel sorry for him.

That style works well against European opposition, but it looks increasingly as though the EPL teams have worked it out.
How many crosses did we get into the box yesterday? I can't remember many.
One in the 96th minute resulted in a goal.

Forest scored 3 goals, which were the result of crosses.
Now, I'm not a highly paid coach, but do we look more like scoring with Mings on the ball or with some creative player on the ball? Who can that be? That's the question, but it sure ain't Mings.

I'm with V59 on this. I'd rather win the Europa and qualify than finish 5th.
Obviously, I want either to qualify, but to win a trophy and qualify by doing so. ??
Surely ??

I really do feel that when it comes to the business end of the season we are not good enough.
Rogers, Buendia, Torres to name but a few are just playing well below par.
Compare us to Forest last night.
Miles away.
Personally I just know we're going to come up short again this season.

I do remember us being 4-1 up against Leicester with 13 minutes left, and Mark Draper turned the game around and ended up drawing 4-4.
Off the back of that, we signed Draper that summer.
