Don't know how true it is but a player we're supposed to be interested in if we can't buy dean smiths' first choice (or 2nd probably! ) is a loan deal of Kenedy from Chelski, left-sided as either defensive or attacking, that's the rumour, not sure he'd fit in and probably never happen, but nice to see their thinking out of the box!

D.ellisrules

1.) 18 Jun 2019 11:29:22
I would love that to be true. He had a big impact at Newcastle so i'm sure DS would get the best out of him. I think a loan to buy would be a smart bit of business and rotate him and jota.

2.) 18 Jun 2019 21:42:48
Kennedy isn’t a left back.

08 Jun 2019 16:57:44
Nice to see we're we might be replacing one piece of deadwood (mic ah richards) with Astley Williams, and now I hear Charlie Austin is on our radar as a proven premier league goal scorer, if we buy him then we're a bunch of boneheads-scary thing to admit, but Rondon would be a better buy!

D.ellisrules

1.) 08 Jun 2019 17:04:05
Bad business.

2.) 08 Jun 2019 18:00:40
Don`t believe everything you read mate, we are being linked to all and sundry at the moment, its like owning a satnav you have to use your own common sense at times.
And to be fair I think you calling the Villa hierarchy boneheads is very unfair after all that has been achieved by them.
Don`t become one of the few on here who complains about everything that the management do just because you don`t agree with it.

3.) 09 Jun 2019 06:53:29
Well Villa dave, the way I see it Ashley Williams legs have gone, and as for Austin, injuries and lack of pace for me means he'd not fit the way we play, but I've no problem if we sign him and he scores 20+ goals for us!

4.) 09 Jun 2019 08:34:31
So you are are calling them bonehead for signings that they haven't made.
However, if these signings (that they haven't made) become really good signings, you will be happy?
I'm!?

Gary Carhill being mentioned in the corridors at Villa Park, might do well with mings as a unit, but I wonder what does he cost in wages a week?

D.ellisrules

1.) 31 May 2019 13:27:16
We have just released 4 players over 30! Surely we will not buy another one, especially one who will demand 100,000 a week.

Just a thought, Leicester have released shinji okasaki, a good player who is honest and gives it his all, I think he'd be worth a punt, what do you fellas think?

D.ellisrules

1.) 04 Jun 2019 15:14:15
A good honest player as you say D ellis, but the wrong side of 30 for us I think.

2.) 06 Jun 2019 22:21:09
Chris
Let’s be realistic? If we have money then surely it’s realistic that Aston Villa could prize a player away from
Bournemouth and Celtic respectively. Look at the quality wolves brought in Jonny, neves, jota and jiminez to
Name but a few.

What are the odds on us getting sheff. wednesday in the play-offs-sods law says it will happen if we're lucky enough to get there-and nice to see brucey showing all the doubters on here just what a good manager he was and is.

D.ellisrules

1.) 18 Mar 2019 18:50:53
Low. 3rd v 6th and 4th v 5th means would have to be the final if we both got in. Leeds/ Sheffield United will be the favourites going into it.

2.) 18 Mar 2019 22:46:22
The final it is then!

Played one game less than us and are 1 point behind us, yes the shadow of steve bruce looms large, promoted from within and after a shakey start, and losing their best defender to bournemouth (and blanking us and his ex-boss), brentford seem to be clicking and ticking without any dramas, after today's game deano says he 'had to give' the players a rocket at half-time to gee them up, here's an idea 'mr. plan A-only'give them a rocket BEFORE the game you spoonhead! -as for why i mentioned bruce and brentford, it occurs to me that whenever bruce has been at another club with less money to spend and hence less choice of players, he finds a system that works with what he's got, so the squad mostly picks itself, comes to us and with so much choice, i think he got a bit befuddled, he'll do well at wednesday, as for brentford, the players are playing for the manager and the jersey, they believe, and again with a smaller squad their a tight unit, so here's a thought, trim the squad and bin the big names, sheffield united did that, fulham did that, leeds did that, norwich did that, seems to have worked for them going forward, i'm sure many will say ney, but what we're doing at the moment is spending big just to tread water, somethings' got to change, personally for me all this possession doesn't mean squat if there's no end result, get in someone like jokanovic, no nonsence, but again its just me then having the crazy thoughts!

D.ellisrules

1.) 24 Feb 2019 16:47:51
Alot of what you say is probably is probably not far off the mark, many on here me included wanted change after a poor start to the season. We definitely would have expected a new manager to change things for the better, obviously this has not happened, this is not to say it won't. This season should now be used to plan for the future and this is where we should judge Smith, if by the end of the season there is absolutely no improvement, (which based on current form is highly likely) then we would have to question if the future is bright.

2.) 24 Feb 2019 18:32:06
Good analogy scotty, problem with that is that he will still be using the same players he is having the problems with now.
He should really be given at least another window and up until Christmas to see how his remodeled side is taking shape.
I would think by then the team he has, would or should consist of at least 80%, maybe more of his chosen imports.
Then I think it is fair to say we can be a bit more judgmental.

3.) 24 Feb 2019 20:13:31
Disagree if things carry on the way they are untill end of season get rid and bring in guss hiddink or bigsam who does a good job every where he's been or even vangaal. we need a manager who the players respect and a manager that can handle the pressure and some1 that has been there and done it like leeds who appointed bielsa and wolves with nuno who did a good job with porto . that way then we might have more faith in the manager and trust him, deano is a nice bloke but not cut out for the villajob, yes there not his players but he should be getting more out this crop of players, he started off good but its gone stale now personally if he did go at the end of season i'd give bigsam the job he'd sort this club out and kick there bcksides . either way it going to be a tough couple of seasons ;nxt season no jck, tammy;tz, mings, maybe mginn aswell so its going to hard replace jck, and tammys goals, unless our scouts unearth sum gems, with right manager we could flourish and especially with our youth set up, but untill then we will be mid table team at best.

4.) 24 Feb 2019 20:43:00
V4 a feel your passion and understand the frustrations, I was in exactly the same camp, however the sensible voices do make a good argument to give deano a full transfer window, if after this we can then say we gave him a chance. We are a basket case so let's not react too quickly. This season is gone so let deano earn his corn and show us what he has got, if he fails and we have given him a fair chance then there can be no complaints from him or the fans.

5.) 24 Feb 2019 21:06:25
True mate.

6.) 25 Feb 2019 12:47:59
Great shout, scotty and you A4.
Fingers crossed, let's hope it all works out, I love apple pie not too keen on humble pie though.

To all you fellas saying write the season off and promote the u23's-you got more chance of us ground-sharing with the noses, with the talent we have, you're saying their not good enough like deano! -any manager worth his salt would adapt and crack on, and why hasn't he tried the u23's, because he doesn't trust them and being honest, they'd be a liability, any player with some vim would be forcing their way into the team-grealish for example? -their lazy and content to wait for something to happen rather than MAKE it happen with graft, look at forest today, got a draw but by all accounts should have won against preston, its the MANAGER that makes it happen, its plain to see our manager can't coax players to play a full 90 minutes,63% of possession today and what have we got to show for it, and don't start making excuses that if tammy or whoever had scored it would have made the difference, teams know how to exploit us, deano has been found out and he's too arrogant to put his hands up and change his system, we are becoming a club of mediocricy, deano's days are numbered, the new owners aren't schmocks, wouldn't be surprised to see him gone before the season is over-thats showbiz.

Posted before but can't seem to get my password sorted so hence a new name on here, for what its worth i don't think dean smith will ever be a massive success with us simply because he's also a fan-one of us, its a rod for his back, we'll always hold him to a much higher standard, at the time we should have moved heaven and earth to get chris wilder in, but that's done and dusted, as for the players not being good enough, don't talk tosh, scott hogan at brentford was a tasty centre forward, he comes to us and under bruce stagnates, he then gets in the manager who inspired him AND still he's a shadow of himself, grealish will never fill his full potential unless he moves, and why? -because we're living in cloud cuckoo-land about who we are and where we are, a manager worth his salt would walk into us and realise we're a basket case, 'all the gear and no idea', instead of getting the players there to fit his system, any quality manager would find a system to fit the players until the season is over, so that for me says that smith may be a half-decent manager but he's too arrogant and complacent to adapt even just for the short-term, i'm not saying bring in a devisive manager, but one who will make the players want to play for him, not be their mate, again for me a manager like chris wilder, someone who'd make players bust a gut for the full 90 minutes, not bring in players who think their doing you a favour every week, putting in a half-arsed effort for 10 minutes but trousering 30 grand plus a week-thats called fraud to me, but each to their own, it will be interesting to see what o'neill does at forest on bugger all money, my guess is a damn sight better than the spongers we'll end up with, and just to put the icing on the cake, gary monk at the noses, i HATE to admit it, but he's doing a cracking job, and out of interest how much has he had to spend? -our arrogance betrays us, we're too lazy and complacent for our own good, we're at our rightful level now, get used to it unless the preverbial rocket up the posterior ensues, i love this club, i don't love what we've become-fundamental change is needed before its too late to wake us up out of this lethargy.

Fair points there Villadave, remember mings was at a premier club and still wasn't a regular in Bournemouth's team, so maybe Eddie howe thought his overall game wasn't enough, of what I've seen of mings he's prone to making rash challenges, but we all see things differently, for me Kongolo is a class above mings but again, just my opinion, if we get mings I hope he's a monster for us.

On Tyrone mings, he looked good in the championship but we're stepping up another few levels and the one thing of concern is with how he deals with players with outright pace, not sure there, neither was Eddie howe, as for Kongolo, the fact he was prepared to go from a top team to Huddersfield for game time and in a team that had no recognised good defenders says to me he likes a challenge, showed he could play and wasn't a prima donna, to me that says he's worth a punt, a few have said there are similarities to van dyck with him, so I'd rather that than similar to Elphick!

Would have kept Hutton, think he'd have done a job as a squad player off the bench, but alas-good luck to the big man though, I heard Barcelona are looking for some shrewd buys.

I believe wee Mr. Crankey wants some sheckles from us before he deems it acceptable for him to move on, I believe a quote used was 'loyalty bonus' due from the terms of his contract! -he's a card! -or maybe another 4 letter word beginning with "c"?
