It looks like bayern Munich want chuk.

{Ed002's Note - Carney Chukwuemeka (CM) Aston Villa will do all they can to keep the player amid interest from Manchester City, Juventus, Hoffenheim and Bayern Munich.}

1.) 03 May 2021 20:02:50
I hope so Ed I'm excited about chuk.

{Ed002's Note - I understand he is very well thought of.}

Rumours that owners want stevie Gerrard, what are peoples thoughts I think it would be a great appointment if true.

1.) 09 Apr 2021 10:00:31
Er, yeah, you know like, er, la - roughly translated as - not for me Jeff. Totally fabricated BS, more chance of my dream of signing Coutinho 😁.

2.) 09 Apr 2021 10:15:31
This strikes me as the press trying to drum up a story where in reality one doesn’t really exist. When our owners took over they were clear that we were going to have a long term plan to deliver the club success, we got promoted ahead of schedule in addition we got to a cup final, we maintained our premiership status and have kicked on from there why oh why when we are on an upward trajectory would we take the risk of changing coaches now? I could understand it if we were in free fall but we are not, don’t get me wrong I like Gerard’s approach to management but success in Scotland is very different to managing in the premiership and whilst i wouldn’t be averse to him managing our club at some point in the future that point isn’t now we should all get behind Deano.

On a separate point I see the likes of Leeds are being linked with Aguero when his contract expires, given he apparently wants to stay in the premier league what about us throwing our hat in the ring? And again before Ed 02 says he won’t sign for us and that’s more than likely true it would at least show the ambition of the club in terms of the type of signings we are competing for.

3.) 09 Apr 2021 11:40:07
Quite stunned that there should be any talk about replacing Dean Smith whether it be with Steven Gerrard or whoever
We all know that managers have a “shelf life “ but surely Dean has done enough to improve things to warrant more loyalty
Been a Villa fan long enough to realise that constantly changing the manager very seldom has long term benefits
Naturally there will come the time when we change our manager but surely not yet
We are moving forward at present and things are looking more positive than they have for a number of years
We need to be patient and stop expecting to achieve great things overnight.

4.) 10 Apr 2021 13:21:11
Spot on BigTone.

5.) 11 Apr 2021 12:21:21
Although I wouldn’t mind gerrard as manager I don’t think they would sack dean to replace with gerrard. If dean were to be sacked I’d be disappointed if he wasn’t replaced with a big name established manager with experience in either the premier league or 1 of the other big leagues in Europe. I don’t think dean can take us much further but I think stick with him for at least another season unless it’s a proven upgrade.

6.) 13 Apr 2021 01:15:41
I wouldn't take too much notice of that one to be honest and for the majority of fans I don't think it would go down to well. If Smith has a bad season and the club go backwards then it's a different tale, but for now I would suggest that it is a media generated story. UTV.

7.) 05 May 2021 10:38:59
villajohn, I suggested Aguero a couple of weeks back and got slated that his is injury prone and isn't worth the money.

21 Feb 2021 23:29:42
One of the reasons we're easy to play against is that we play the same every week and teams know now too have 2 defenders on him, trez, elgahzi, elmo, Davis, all need to be sold, barkley so lazy and is overrated, we so need another striker, winger, and that's without squad players that need replacing, we were always going to have a blip every team has, I do worry for Smith if this continues because old habits are creeping in our game again, Smith is a decent manager, but if we are to push for top 8 and top 6 in nxt 3/ 4 yrs is he the right man too take us there, I'm not calling for him to go but he doesn't have a plan a, b, c, and never uses his subs properly, and isn't ruthless he comes across to Nice, look at westham in the same position as us last season but this season like us improved but they have a manager who knows how too mix it up moyes is a very good manager, and has made great signings soucek, coufal, signings of the season in my view, where ever we finish we have made improvements and need to go again and improve more in summer 6/ 7 players need to come in squad, 6 out as well.

1.) 22 Feb 2021 09:30:48
4eva I agree with you completely re who we need to ship out and you can add Hourihane, Taylor and Engels to that list. With regards Deano this is only his second season at this level and it’s a steep learning curve, if someone had said at the end of last season we would be where we are now with only just over half the season gone we would have snapped there hands off. and to my mind that earns Deano some time however I do think he has to adapt to the requirements of the league so as a number of posters have already pointed out we need to have a plan b which we don’t seem to have at the moment we continue to play out from the back when teams employ a high press against us, if you look at City on occasions they can mix it up and play long ball as evidenced by Ederson’s assist the other day so for me it shouldn’t be a one size fits all. He definitely needs to make better use of the bench and be more ruthless when it comes to selection and I would like to see a couple of the kids at least make the bench and it was good to see that yesterday. I think we are ahead of where we thought we would be when our owners took over but again our summer recruitment is going to be vital in terms of the clubs progression if this time next year we are making no progress then I think it’s fair enough to start to ask questions about the manager but not before.

2.) 24 Feb 2021 01:27:18
Well said there. If and only if the team struggle next year after continued investment is it really fair to ask any 'big questions' of Smith. Until then he's certainly earned the right to be given time to develop the squad. Most people would admit we're probably a season ahead of where we were aiming with winning the playoffs when Smith took over, so we've had to progress even quicker which in itself is tough going. With such a positive start and being comfortable in the league I can understand the frustration some show about wanting squad players out, wanting more consistency and the fan mentality of always wanting more, but as a fan base I'd hope most would be able to look at the big picture, recognise the huge strides we're making as a club, get behind the manager and players and enjoy it. Just think where we were 3 years ago!

Sporting director gone good he was awfull.

26 Jul 2020 18:00:53
Get in well done boys UTV well done Smith aswell 👏👏👍👍.

1.) 26 Jul 2020 18:26:51
So proud. Did absolutely nothing wrong and would have been gutted if that fluke sent us down (although Reina should not have been that far out) .
I like Brentford but selfishly hope they stay down now so we can nab Benrahma and Watkins.

2.) 26 Jul 2020 19:05:58
Liverpool fan in peace
Well done you guys on securing your place in the Prem
Enjoy your summer 👍🏼.

3.) 26 Jul 2020 19:19:09
I agree 100% rk, I think we could still get them even if they come up, less likely I know, but wages and stadium + potential is far more attractive surely.
I also like Mbeumo, would be better than what we have and still only 20 yrs old.

4.) 26 Jul 2020 20:17:53
Mbuemo has definitely shown glimpses, powerful and quick with a decent eye for goal. I just think our financial position and our needs means he needs another season to prove it wasn't a one off as an unknown commodity.
Benrahma has been consistent and Watkins is versatile so would be definite value for money. Price if they come up is the issue, adds another £5-10mill per player for Brentford to let them leave.

5.) 26 Jul 2020 20:43:23
Thank you Liver_La, well done to you guys also, my son in law is a Liverpool fan.

I hope Grealish doesn't drop bombshell and say he wants to go like kane but as a villa fan he's given his best to villa, bet spurs fans are feeling 🤮🤮🤮🤮 right now.

1.) 17 May 2021 20:14:23
Be careful what you wish for 4eva as it wouldn’t surprise me, if the story is true that Spurs look to replace Kane with Abraham, and whilst personally I wouldn’t see that as the end of the world I know some on here would be bitterly disappointed with that outcome.

2.) 17 May 2021 20:42:11
Personally villa John I think he will stay 1 more season.

3.) 17 May 2021 21:14:30
I can’t see him leaving, city have to much talent in his area for him to be sure of starting every week, united won’t spend the money, neither will spurs, I see Liverpool and Chelsea the best options for him, mane looks like a player heading out of Liverpool he could be seen as a replacement, of all the possible moves he could get it wouldn’t surprise me if he went to Real Madrid.

17 May 2021 04:05:27
It will be interesting too see who we bring in we need at least 6 quality players a butt kicker in cm also a box to box mid,2 wingers, a striker, and squad cb.

1.) 17 May 2021 11:02:52
V4E it will interesting. getting top players in if you're a top 6 side is a lot easier than a mid table team. I think we need to lower our expectations in that respect.

2.) 17 May 2021 12:58:42
Seen a link on news now saying we have a 260 million war chest at our disposal this summer, pretty hard to believe.

3.) 17 May 2021 13:44:33
News now won’t be the source, check where it came from and who wrote it, will tell you everything you need to know.

Not a chance we sign 5 or six players, I’d bet they’ll be 3 maybe 4 significant signings if that. The club from the manager to, Purslow out lined the plan after we were promoted, we’ll still be sticking to that.

4.) 17 May 2021 15:17:37
You only have to look at the numbers to know that that’s b####### whilst I have no doubt Deano will have a sizeable war chest I don’t see it being £260 million or even half that to be honest. Interesting that Wesley is supposedly being made available for loan, if that is the case then surely Davis will also be on his way either as with Wesley a loan or permanently which suggests to me that at least one striker will be coming in with Barry being promoted as a more permanent feature of the first team squad.

5.) 17 May 2021 18:00:53
Yeah, think that 260M figure is absolute BS but I do expect us to spend big in the summer - Could see 150M dropped on 4 or 5 players, think this summer is about quality additions. Think we will see a striker, RW, 10 and HMF come in, and perhaps competition at LB and CB.

6.) 17 May 2021 18:40:15
Hi v4eva
You are speaking my language.
We have needed an arse kicker for a long time. Gives and takes.
Frequently a through ball goes past our defence and gives a strike to the opposition.
How many points have we lost from a winning position?
Not saying the stated style of player would stop that but he could reduce the threat by just being there.
Sorry for the woke error I stated "he" when it should have they.

7.) 17 May 2021 18:59:15
TOV, i know you are old school, but with wise words that apply to the modern game. I am fed up of watching our midfield capitulate game after game, putting our defence under pressure. My gripe is that Smith and his coaching team have no idea how to address this issue which does not bode well for the future under his leadership.

8.) 17 May 2021 19:03:39
Tov we haven't had a butt kicker for along time now mate and its needed a kante type player or sum1 in mould of kalvin Philips quality dm he is.

9.) 17 May 2021 20:15:52
Last one we had was Jedinak, didn’t win a game without him in the first season in the championship.

10.) 17 May 2021 21:20:03
Would you guys be interested in someone like matic of man united?

11.) 17 May 2021 22:22:12
Dier for me, he ain’t no Mary Poppins, you don’t have to like him, and cheaper to have his name on the back of your shirt than some of the names mentioned, can slot into a back 3 or 4 too so gives us more options

UTV.

12.) 18 May 2021 00:37:10
Magic probably too old and Dier for me would be a massive step back, seen him a few times this season and although he performed for England on the odd occasion, fella couldn’t be trusted at all for Spurs this year, his performance that ultimately helped them get knocked out of Europe against the odds says it all.

16 May 2021 17:13:40
Don't worry guys in Deansmith we trust he's one us and everything will be rosey nxt season, I'm worried about next season personally we're going backwards in my opinion, and we will be in another relegation dog fight, we won't win another game bottom half finish and Leeds 1st season finish above us and wolves will aswell, fair play to Leeds play great football and have a world class manager unlike us.

1.) 16 May 2021 20:07:44
4eva that post looks like your arguing with yourself HaHa
Onwards&Upwards Villaforever.

2.) 16 May 2021 20:54:42
Wolves ain’t finishing above Villa this season 4eva. Next season yes I agree but not this season.

3.) 17 May 2021 03:59:50
Not a chance neve7 haha if we had a quality manager we would have been top 8th or 9th maybe but even with Smith in charge nxt season we will still finish above your lot mate 😂😂😂.

15 May 2021 17:32:32
Villa Jon, 4 potential stars, chuck, Barry, biddance, kessler, I didn't say they going to replace players I said they should get squad numbers and shouldn't be loaned out let them learn on the job its better that way in my opinion give them 15/ 20 minutes, we have a youth set up for a reason, I can't believe. More people on here don't want to see our pups in squad I know villa dave and markavfrance and few others agree, it's not like I'm getting carried away aswell you can clearly see there talented players.

1.) 15 May 2021 19:21:00
You misunderstand me 4eva I want these kids to be properly developed and have long and fruitful careers with the Villa, however given the rumours re potential transfer targets the question has to be are these talented kids better served by getting the odd 15-20 minutes game time here and there, or a full season playing for a championship side? If we sign Abraham up front with Watkins and Wesley available how much game time will Barry get? Similarly with us apparently after 2 wide guys when you add Jack, Traore, and El ghazi into the mix I don’t see Biddace getting a lot of game time either, the one who might be worth keeping would be Chukuewema but again that depends on whether we sign a high class 10.

2.) 15 May 2021 20:06:23
100% John, I'm in total agreement, it's not that I don't want them playing for Villa, I simply want to make sure they are developed correctly and when the chance arrives they are ready - Definitely think Chukwuemeka is the most likely to be more involved with the first team next season. Barry and Kessler look excellent but a full season in the Championship may suit them better.

15 May 2021 05:31:27
Well played to our youths hope they win the cup and hope some get called up to 1st team don't want to see them shunted out on loan why can't they learn at villa where there getting paid sometimes loans do nothing I really do believe we have in my opinion probably about 4 potential stars on our hands if we give them minutes and guide them, it could save us millions, what's wrong with having youth and experience it's a good blend,

1.) 15 May 2021 10:44:24
So who are the 4 potential stars and who do you play them instead of?

2.) 15 May 2021 15:23:40
Villa4Eva it's a recurring conversation with Villa supporters, I recall a few seasons back fans crying for O'Hare to get minutes as he was the "successor to Grealish", and when he did fans were on his back almost instantly, same with Ramsey this season and some fans questioning his ability. Fans in general are a fickle bunch and the club will be aware of this, I think the summer window will tell you a lot. If we don't sign a 10 then Chukwuemeka is absolutely in Smith's plans for next season, if Guilbert and Elmo leave then Kessler will get minutes, if we don't sign a striker Barry will get time to show is quality. If not, they will be loaned out to develop, none of our promising youngsters will be playing U23s next season. We need to relax, these players will be stars for Villa very soon, let's be patient and enjoy the fact we are in such a good place going forward.

3.) 15 May 2021 17:04:32
Interesting you mention O’Hare BK apparently he is in line to be Coventry’s player of the season and is attracting interest from bigger clubs.

4.) 15 May 2021 17:51:13
He did John, he's been very good this season - My point is more around how we call for youth to be included and them turn on them the second they misplace pass (and by "we" I mean supporters in general, it's not a dig at anybody on the site) . It'll be interesting to see what the summer brings, my gut is telling me we will see the majority of Kessler, Barry, Chukwuemeka etc loaned out to play week in week out at senior level but we will know soon enough once the signings arrive.

5.) 15 May 2021 19:01:39
Player of the season finishing 16th in the championship, happy for the lad but come on, he’s a good championship player, not what we need and wasn’t good enough when given the chance. As John BK said, people turned on him pretty quick.

We will see Ed you know best after all you do know everything you might aswell be on the board the amount times you tell people they will be no spending and all that bs, it's all you go on about 😂😊😂😂😂😂.

{Ed002's Note - Perhaps you should read what I have written. You clearly don’t understand FFP, you certainly do not understand anything about the Aston Villa finances, and you don’t seem concerned that the club sold the ground. The major asset has GONE. You might want to find somewhere else to share your inane nonsense - it is not wanted here.}

Ffp right like you always keep going on about il believe it when it comes out our chaiirmens mouth or our owners the 1s who know what is going on because there at the club, and plus if we were going to be hit by ffp it would of happened by now, plus it's flawed anyway city clearly cheated and got away with 8million fine, why a fine when you have done nothing wrong, anyway I trust the owners they know what they are doing, I'm sure you like just winding us villa fans up.

{Ed002's Note - Keep sharing the ignorance.}

Agree dave he's good but he's know, platt, little, Atkinson, Yorke, and Ashley Young all of them world class jack needs to do way more for me, his 2nd half of the season wasn't great thou but if he stays and we get more quality like benerama, and quality mid and 2 strikers he would be much better.
