Ref a previous post or reply mentioning Bogarde not being good enough, those who called me out surely you see it now

If you’re talking about Lamare, he probably should have gone back out on loan for another season. If you’re talking about Dirk, surely he twice won the BAFTA for Best Actor in a Leading Role and was knighted in 1992 and therefore qualifies as a national treasure ?

Hate to put a dampener on it all because we have every reason to be on cloud 9 now but I was talking to Stefan Moore last week who's still involved with the club and he said he's worried about us going forward.
Apparently Emery runs the club from top to bottom with around 50 staff around him, Stefans worry is when he eventually goes it's going to be a huge gap to fill across the board. Not for one minute did he claim Emery was leaving but if a Barcelona or Madrid come calling its hard to say no and Apparently he has final say on everything so when he does leave us he's taking the whole infrastructure with him potentially

Why the f**k worry about the future and put a damper on the good times at the moment and I'm accused of many things, but nothing as negative as this

1. Emery learnt from his time at PSG that he works better with control. It is why he turned down Newcastle and will likely deter him from the likes of Barcelona and Real.
2. Assuming we stick with him he won't leave until he has won something during his spell. Also one of the reasons he turned down Newcastle.
3. Unlike Sevilla and Villareal we won't sell everybody of any value every year. We have the finances to choose who we are willing to sell and for not a penny less than top dollar that will be reinvested.
4. Our owners are astute enough to have contingency plans.
5. Whenever he does leave, for whatever reason, there is always a chance we will struggle to hit the same heights for a while. This happens to a lot of clubs after a hugely successful manager leaves.

Proper positive RK

Emery knows how a proper football club needs to be run, hopefully both Swarez and Eden have seen what they have found, because they are who control it all, got to say I think they have got it all right so far, 15 in a row, absolute fortress, new record, emerys is going to get many more, should soon get the key to the city! ???

Sterling had one less goal/assist than Diaby last season. Our fans deemed Diaby a quality signing but Sterling is deemed not good enough for us?

Let’s be honest Diaby was poor last season, throw the stats at me all you want but I watch football with my eyes and he looked lost most of the time.
I’d say Emery and co have seen we can make a profit and took it and ran. Diabys stats suggest he was a top performer last season and there would be plenty more sniffing round him if that was the case.

Great but of business for me

The job emery has done is a double-edged sword, yes he's proven the owners have made the correct decision.
But as the astute businessmen our owners are they may well be looking saying hold on unai that £150m you wanted when you joined in November can go on ice here's £75m as you've took this group from 17th to potentially Europe so it can't all be bad from a playing staff perspective.
Not saying that's what's going to happen but let's not all hang our hats on a war chest for a complete overhaul

A. We will never get him in a million years

B. We'd all love him at the club if he signed, pivotal part of a world Cup winning team

Anyone that says he's not for us is deluded

To dismiss Emery leaving for one of the biggest clubs in world football seems so naive.

This notion that they are a mess top to bottom isn’t true, the fans aren’t keen on the owners yes, but these are owners consistently backing the manager summer window after summer window, 70k plus every week in the ground. Their biggest issue is the players they have and a run of managers who have failed to get the best out of a group of players that are no doubt talented but appear to lack the work ethic when the going gets tough.

Emery took us on a when we weren’t exactly pulling up trees due to our owners and Purslow persisting with Smith who we could all see was absolutely lost and clueless without Grealish and then employing Gerrard who was woeful also, striking similarities to Utd now.

Emery is not a fan and is a footballing man who likes a challenge, what bigger challenge than going into to what the biggest club in the country/Europe and doing what he has done here with us? Imagine that one on the CV.

I don’t think he’d go this season but if Utd were interested and held out until the summer I could see him moving on if he was given the same freedom with the footballing side as he has with us.

If by cynics you mean people who are concerned that we haven’t bolstered our squad in defensive areas then I’d say the cynics are on to something.
We needed to upgrade on Cash and we never we then lost cash and today just exposed the gaping chasm we have down that flank both offensively and defensively.

This was Leicester today exposing us, god help us when Bayern come to town.

Good 3 points on the road though but not much to shout about other than Onana chipping in again and Durans header.

Agree with most but I thought the young man at RB became out weak point when he came on, one on one he coped but he got caught out time after time with the diagonal a few times one which cost us the first goal and konsa gave him a talking to as he’d been on to him to be aware for most the second half.

Not a horrendous showing but think we are crying out for a right back and I’d genuinely take a punt on sterling, I don’t think Unai fancied Bidace and Sterling offers that outlet in behind and can arrive at the back post which if we had a player of that ilk today we score.

Overall not a horrendous but areas to improve obvious
