No malen in champions league squad. That's a shock, especially as it means bailey is in.

I'm a bit confused with the turkish lad supposidly signing. Left sided centre back or full back. Who's going, torres, mings, digne or maatsen

1.) 13 Jan 2025 19:12:49
Id say he’s one for the future, isn’t he only 18 or am I confusing him?

2.) 13 Jan 2025 20:13:54
I think your right Whack, and I think he’s a centre back

3.) 13 Jan 2025 21:04:02
He is only 18 but a 1st team regular in turkey

4.) 13 Jan 2025 22:12:19
Might be 1 for the future who knows if he's good enough he might play or we loan him out to get better

5.) 13 Jan 2025 23:24:12
Just read that he’s staying with his club on loan till the end of season

So skip forward a couple of weeks and everyone is fit, what's the starting 11

Southernvillain2

1.) 09 Feb 2025 22:01:55
Great question, so for me it’s

Martinez
Cash Konsa, Torres, Digne
Kamara, Tielemans
Asensio, Rogers, Rashford
Watkins

2.) 10 Feb 2025 10:02:39
Lord great shout, I would have Garcia in place of cash, and Mings over Torres other than that I'd be the same

3.) 10 Feb 2025 10:07:47
Lord and a bech of
Olsen
Disasi
Mcginn
Barkley
Malen
Ramsey
Bailey
Cash/Garcia
Mings/Torres

4.) 10 Feb 2025 10:21:44
A difficult decision and not one I have to make thankfully. I notice neither of you start Ramsey when, in my opinion, he's playing some of his best football currently.
Are Tielemens performances starting to drop off a little recently?
Also notice, no Onana on the bench SV2? Surely he gets in ahead of Bailey, especially as attacking options covered by Ramsey and Malen.
As I said, a difficult one to answer.

5.) 10 Feb 2025 10:43:54
SV, what about Onana?

6.) 10 Feb 2025 11:11:22
Trinity, I like Ramsey, his running with the ball and how he commits opposing players but oh dear me when it comes to finishing he is shocking, his goal yesterday was due to the keepers error, he has no finesse he just hits it as hard as he can and hopes for the best. We haven’t adequately replaced the goals from Luiz and Diaby, Rashford will help to address that I think that’s why I’ve gone for him.

7.) 10 Feb 2025 11:45:21
Sorry chaps forgot to include onana on the bench options. He wouldn't start for me

8.) 10 Feb 2025 11:48:28
Lord I thought the same on Rashford v Ramsey. Last night Rushford would have buried at least two of Ramsey chances hence his inclusion

9.) 10 Feb 2025 14:00:30
LOTM, agree that finishing is certainly not his strong suit, but compared to Watkins his goals to chances ratio must be better. Not suggesting for one moment I would drop Watkins. However if Rashford, Asensio, Malen and/or Rogers were scoring for fun and he wasn't it might be an option.

I don't think he was missed at all yesterday.

10.) 10 Feb 2025 18:09:16
Let's look forward to a fully fit squad and we can see what unai thinks. Trinity great comment on the Watkins topic. Hopefully ollie ups his figures or malen will certainly be up for the job I think.

Who thinks it's time for Rogers to be dropped. I call it the England syndrome. Get picked for England and you think you've done it. Happened to mings and konsa

1.) 27 Jan 2025 14:15:59
And our gk also has it aswell

2.) 27 Jan 2025 17:09:57
SV I couldn't agree more, however the problem is the complete lack of creative ability or pace on the bench. If we had a good bench Rogers would have been rested with a kick up the jacksey a couple of weeks ago. I can think of a couple of others who deserve to be replaced, however again nothing on the bench is going to improve the poor standard of football being served up at the moment. Too many games in a short space of time is definitely an issue, not a completely acceptable excuse, our slow style of play is definitely contributing to our current poor performances. Finance is obviously holding us back, however our transfer dealings over the last 18 months have been extremely disappointing, if not unacceptable. I can't see us getting anything near what is needed to improve our defensive woes. My take, we had it too good far to soon and are expectations are falling way short, having judged last season as a start to competing with the top four. We are so far off that Emery is going to need to get quality recruits in both attacking and defensive areas and adapt our current style of play.If it is Emery to take us forward I think it will be well in to next season if we are to see the changes necessary to get back to top four levels. It's disappointing that the player's that got us top four are at times playing like players in the bottom half, far too many mistakes throughout the team leave us vulnerable to both conceding goals and not finishing teams off when we are in control.

3.) 27 Jan 2025 19:19:08
My solution to this is go 3-5-2 Maatsen and García as wingbacks, getting crosses in to a partnership of Duran and Watkins, McGinn Onana Tielemans as the midfield 3, Kamara in a Danny Blind sweeper role as part of the defensive 3 ??‍♂️

UTV

4.) 27 Jan 2025 19:50:51
72 agree about Kamara in defensive areas, why on earth he didn't move in to the back four after Mings Injury, Digne wasn't up to it.

5.) 27 Jan 2025 20:11:43
Scot, I think you may be right about getting to good too soon. But now we got there we need progress. Playing this sit back slow play is not how we got to the cl last season so why the change. The majority of the players are the same. Dougie had as many bad games as good, the best thing diaby did was made bailey turn up. So I don't buy into the theory that we're missing them that much.
I agree with jonny about emi but at least he has winners medals to be arrogant about.

6.) 27 Jan 2025 20:21:10
It’s the style of play that puts us under pressure imo, when we move it quickly we look great, I can accept that we can’t go full tilt every game but at the minute we can’t even do it for a full 45 mins, the players can only take so much blame, if they weren’t doing what Emery wanted he wouldn’t be happy but in the games we just scrape a win he’s delighted with them so they are obviously doing what he wants but he’s that naive he thinks we can hold these 1 goal leads whereas everyone else knows that we can’t.

7.) 27 Jan 2025 22:53:27
Whack, you really have hit the nail on the head, we have been one of the worst teams in trying to defend a lead. We have lost so many points with our late goal draws. As poor as we have played recently three of the draws in to wins and we would be in the mix.

25 Jan 2025 21:32:24
Tomorrow's game has taken on more importance after today's results. We can't afford to drop any points or we'll be 4 points adrift of the pack. We need to go on a nice little run

Any news on Pau's injury

Southernvillain2

1.) 01 Jan 2025 14:16:45
I think it’s a metatarsal injury and it’s thought he could be out for up to a couple of months.

Lord, it will be sad but to progress we probably need to move. obviously being down south arsenal fans were gutted to leave Highbury but they're all settled at the Emirates, same with west ham and to a lesser degree spurs. I just wonder if we would actually fill it week in week out
