Lots of speculation about who we should sign but with enough points in the bag now to avoid relegation I would like to see some of our promising youngsters given a chance before our owners splash the cash
There are some really talented players in our under 23’s who just need the opportunity to perform at Premier League level
Undoubtedly some will sink and some will swim but we will never know unless they are given a platform to perform on.
Then Dean Smith can decide if any of them are ready and maybe redirect transfer funds to specific targets
Just a thought.

Big Tone, you are echoing what many of us have been saying on here for months mate, very pleased you feel the same mate.
Unfortunately the Management don`t seem to feel the same, as you say now we are safe, there is no better time than the present, to give our more promising youngsters some valuable first team minutes.

I'm really looking forward to this window and next season, it's been a long, long time since we were in such a strong position. Financially we are stable and owned by two billionaires who appear to know what they are doing and know exactly what they want and are willing to back that with hard cash.

We have a good manager in Smith who has taken the club forward every season he has been here and if fans are willing to be a little more patient then we will have the strength in depth to compete at the highest level, we are short of that at the moment but this window will address a couple of those short falls although probably not all.

We are also a club going forward that mean business and we have shown that by holding on to our top stars, players from other clubs would also of noted this with gives us a much stronger hand in the transfer market, we are now an attractive club to join.

It is a great time to be a Villa fan and it's a relief to see the club finally being run in the right manner, hold on to your hats Villans we are in for a crazy ride but remember it won't all happen at once and there will still be ups and downs, but stay patient and support your players, club and manager and I promise you will have the ride of your life, glory days are just around the corner my friends. UTV

👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍.

I do like to read a bit of positivity Biggles, well said indeed. As Dave said BigToneAV, a few of us on here have been advocating trying the youngsters out between now and the end of the season. I think it would keep the regulars on their toes and help keep a high tempo on the pitch as well. It would be a shame if the season just fizzled out without trying something different. Nice to know there’s somebody else on board with the same view. 👍.

The old saying goes if your good enough your old enough and I truly believe that. Take Ramsey for instance changed the dynamics of the game when he came on on Sunday along with DaviesBut what does Deano do? Play a couple of youngsters and see how they get on? Or does he stick with the favoured? Either way he is flummoxed risk our slight Euro Hope's or does he go for broke? . Its a catch 22 situation I'm glad I'm not in the hot seat as he's the one getting paid to make these difficult decisions. Me personally I'd play 2 up top on Sunday and have Barry on the bench.

5.) 08 Apr 2021 21:45:14
I agree about the youngsters, nothing to lose this season. I personally would like to see young Barry feature up front with Ollie against Liverpool, he has already scored against them once and shown his ability so it would put the fear of god into them, also creating more space for Ollie.

Some of the youngsters may be ready for the challenge and others not, but either way the club have a very bright future and it won't be long before we have a constant influx of top class young stars breaking into the first team. UTV 👍👍.

Like your thinking Biggles, I just hope the people that matter at VP, take the time and have a look around the forums.

7.) 09 Apr 2021 08:41:48
Biggles you're far too optimistic mate 👍🤣🤣🤣🤣 love your thinking and positivity 😁 a refreshing change from the Dad's Army "we're doomed, doomed i tell ya "🤣🤣🤣🤣.

My memory tells me that in 1966 the group games played at Villa Park were free admission to season ticket holders. A neighbour offered me his season ticket so that I could watch the games but for some reason I declined it.
Not sure if my memory is playing tricks on me as I find it incredible that there would be free admission to international matches.
Can any Villans confirm whether this was true or not.

Obviously going to be a lot of speculation about who is going to be the new manager and I just want to see somebody who can produce the flair of the Ron Atkinson team and the endeavour and results of the Martin O Neil team
Can’t remember the last time that I said “We will beat these “ with inner belief and confidence
Don’t care who the next manager is so long as he makes us all proud to be Villans again and restores our optimism

Always sad to see a manager getting sacked but there is a certain inevitability about SG being the next candidate
Shame because I wanted to see him progress our club but in truth we have regressed under his tenure
When you lose the support of the fans there is only one outcome
No doubt the owners are on the lookout for a suitable replacement who will be able to get us playing with pride and passion once more and inspire a winning habit
We fans are loyal but fed up of lacklustre performances and continually fighting relegation UTV

I too would have been delighted to see him succeed and push us up the table but his failure to achieve this despite a good range of players with ability means his future, at Diddypool, is now out of the question.

Our defence too often are scrambling around like a foal on ice because they always look out of place. The opposition attack Mings knowing he will do something silly, usually a pass back to Martinez, as he can't play a right foot pass. He should be an old fashioned No 3, left back where Dignes plays, with a solid No 5 then Konsa on the right.

Case and Dignes are really half backs, No's 4 and 6, where they can play exactly as at present but must learn to get back to make a 5 at the back like so many top European sides., A simple 2 in the middle then 2 inside forwards and a main line striker.

Too frequently our full backs are absent. If one is up the other must stay back.

More mobility by all the players is essential.

Let Olly or Danny stay up and we can still have 9 defending when required, which they often are.

PS Pochetino would be my ch

Was relatively pleased with our performance yesterday although the result was disappointing
Got the feeling that this squad will produce more good days than bad in the weeks to come
Ramsey opened my eyes as to just how good a player he really is
Yes there were mistakes made by others but overall I enjoyed the game
Some exciting pieces of skill from Bailey, Bert looking sublime at times and Ollie’s determination and desire to score goals give us so much to look forward to in the coming weeks
Add to that the return of our Argentinian duo
and we Villans have plenty of good days ahead.

Good summary big Tone! I was impressed with Ramsey too!

2.) 12 Sep 2021 15:50:02
Don’t know how this will work but a proper midfield 3 like we had yesterday got the best out of McGinn and Ramsey, Ramsey had to go off because the ref was itching to send 1 of our players off being on a booking already, what do we do now? 4-3-3? 3-5-2? In a 3-5-2 are we going to play Bailey left wing back and god help us El Ghazi at right wing back to accommodate Ings and Watkins up top? IMO 4-3-3, same midfield 3 as yesterday and Watkins left, Ings middle, Bailey right, even though that’d be my 1st choice line up, there’s a lot of talent knocking on the door to break into that team, we’ve got a good squad there fellas, I can’t even find a starting spot for our record signing, never mind Traore, Carney, Sanson, El Ghazi etc. good times ahead of if the team spirit is good and no sulking if they’re on the bench

UTV.

Really pleased with the win against Barrow
Well done to all concerned
Only sour note for me were both involving Anwar El Ghazi
The pannenka penalty was showboating and his shushing actions towards the Barrow crowd after his second goal lacked humility
This wasn’t against Barcelona or Bayern but lowly Barrow
Yes you are a decent footballer Anwar but please show some sportsmanship and respect for those who have not been blessed with the level of talent that you have.

What were barrow fans chanting? I couldn't hear it properly but something related to Grealish?

Can you blame him after that?
It is like no matter what he does we are after him.
Be happy that he scored, let him celebrate the way he wants. He was handled disrespectfully when he disabled his twitter account, He has come a long way after that.

2.) 25 Aug 2021 18:07:26
They were chanting, he left because your rubbish, pretty standard and we’ll hear it week in week out, just banter, nothing personal to el Ghazi either.

3.) 25 Aug 2021 18:14:23
No idea what the fans were throwing at him but absolutely no problem with the player giving a little back. not exactly the most offensive gesture the 'shhh' opposition fans after a bit of banter. Someone also earlier referred to the fact that he was high fiving Barrow fans as he walked off, so all good. No story here other than his goals, assists and a Villa win.

4.) 25 Aug 2021 18:52:55
Thank you Chris for the details!

He susshed them up real good. Nice banter all around then.

5.) 25 Aug 2021 19:04:00
Let’s hope he has the same attitude when we’re playing someone our level👍.

Quite stunned that there should be any talk about replacing Dean Smith whether it be with Steven Gerrard or whoever
We all know that managers have a “shelf life “ but surely Dean has done enough to improve things to warrant more loyalty
Been a Villa fan long enough to realise that constantly changing the manager very seldom has long term benefits
Naturally there will come the time when we change our manager but surely not yet
We are moving forward at present and things are looking more positive than they have for a number of years
We need to be patient and stop expecting to achieve great things overnight.

Good call that Odessa
Like to see Chuckenweka involved at some stage too even if it’s only a 20 minute cameo as a sub.
Really need to phase in some of these youngsters before they get disheartened.
